We have fond memories of this one- my wife and I bring up "Danny was morose" often- too bad it falls short of the better episodes. Yes, Rob is quite the obnoxious mansplainer here, but it sets up the best scenes: reading the stories for Buddy and Sally, and the visit to the publisher's office. The closing scene is lame. Btw, John McGiver went on to play an, um, interesting character in Midnight Cowboy.

Why, because married people should never have disagreements? And if there is a problem you should automatically give up? It's attitudes like this for our sky-rocketing divorce rates. There's a lot of value in making things work, even when the relationship isn't perfect. And, if we were assuming theirs was a real relationship, I'd actually say it's a pretty healthy one. They have silly disagreements from time to time, but they love each other, are committed, and always make up eventually. That's real life.

There are some #DickVanDykeShow episodes which are not easy to stomach. And this is one of them. BUT ------ aside from that, if you listen closely, you may discover things you had no idea about. As in @19:04 min., "How are things at #FireIsland?" Do YOU know what Fire Island is known for? "Hi, Rollie, this is Ollie. How are things at Fire Island? ... And, Rollie, tone it down. The last chapter you sent was way too sexy." Google, and educate yourself.
