I am a Type A person now in a body that doesn't cooperate, due to chronic illness. So I know how frustrating it is! Lists and crossing things off helps me. And like you I am too hard on myself. My mother-in-law also likes to remind us of things that need to be done around our house, bless her. 😁 I like to watch cleaning videos for the motivation, and to remind myself that a lot can be done in 10 or 15 minutes. I use my washer and drier as a timer for projects. Get the close dry before the next load comes out. Get the sink and kitchen cleaned up while the next load washes. It’s a fun race for me. Gets the laundry done and the house picked up at the same time

Motivation and satisfaction! Plus, I feel like the people I watch could be my friends in real life, so I get a sense of camaraderie from watching, too. My real life friends aren’t as into cleaning, decluttering and organizing like I am so it’s a place I can go when I’m in the mood for it. Make sense?

Today I did all the dishes, scrubbed the sink, put away the clutter on the counter, wiped down the counter and pushed the button for robot to vacuum! I don't know how to watch a video and clean along; although, I will turn on a movie I've watched and clean with it in the background. Gotta love Stephen for pitching in. He really is supportive. Forgot to mention Old English Furniture Oil. It'll restore your antique wood. There's also an Old English scratch cover that is wonderful, wear gloves as it will stain your fingernails. I think the bottle I have was bought 50 years ago, lol. It lasts forever!

Sometimes I just watch but I often clean alongside while watching. I'm 55 years old and have a degenerative back problem. Being up and cleaning hurts, especially after about 5 minutes. Sometimes I can keep going through the pain when I'm watching a video. I used to think it was just a good distraction but then I read that watching a video releases endorphins so it actually helps to relieve the pain! So cool! That antique desk is absolutely beautiful. So if you want to rehydrate it, this is gonna sound crazy, use mayo. I’m not kidding. Slap mayo coat it on and let it sit. The longer the better. I let it sit on my grandmas furniture for 3 hours. After you wipe it up real good and give it a good polish. Done. It’s amazing. It also helps pull the wood color up in stained spots. Trust me. It’s crazy I know. It works.

For that gorgeous vanity, they make thick clear plastic furniture top protectors. (Like how our mom's or grandma's used to use glass on top of wood surfaces to protect them, but with plastic!

I follow other cleaning/organizing ladies and while I commend and am envious of them, you are the more realistic person with an amazing sense of humor. Shannon, I would get a piece of 1/4" glass cut for the top of the make up desk. Take a picture of the top to take to a glass business and ask them how to measure it, especially the rounded front or mabe make a paper template. They will grind the edges all around and slightly round the corners. The glass will protect the top for years and is easy to clean.

Bless you I could never leave anything for the next day. The reason I watch mostly is to get me up and moving. Today I’m healing from surgery so I guess to give myself the excuse of it’s okay just not today. It was bad that while I was coming out of surgery all I could see was the future tasks I had to do folding laundry that I didn’t have yet😣😣I think I could for see what was to come . You came on at the right moment!! I’m in the process of doing a whole house clean as we are welcoming home our two children and their one girlfriend this August. Your videos are watched for the motivation and the calming effects that you bring in my chaos! However I would do more watching if I had you on during my cleaning sessions so I try to watch you before them. Sometimes I do it as a reward and watch them after instead of my dark chocolate treat the I say I can have!! I love your videos so much!! The one hour timer really helps keep me motivated. And girl, navy is your color!! That Texas shirt made you glow! Hopefully helpful hint - I lay a hand or dish towel down on my makeup dresser. I use it to wipe my brushes on, and it catches any dripping foundation. Just toss it in the washer when it gets too soiled! Helps to keep the wood on my dresser protected as well. 😊

I don’t “clean along” with videos because I move around too much and make too much noise to really watch. I watch to feel solidarity with other women who struggle physically to accomplish what their brains desire! You are sincere and hilarious, another reason to watch. Your bed frame is gorgeous and those sheets are so cute; I think you should always start with the bed area and try to keep bed and bedside stands kinda sacred so you can rest well. Also, you clearly love your “get ready” desk, so keep after that even if other things get let go. I hate how energy is such a precious commodity-PCOS suuuucks!!

Nice job!!! I love how the effect from the first big purge spawned several more sessions. Hey so many times I have to put the “shoulds” out of the way and do what’s going to help my family the most or me if I’m needing motivation/a better space for my husband and myself to feel relaxed and enjoy spending time together in- I so often didn’t prioritize our room until we had to move our medically fragile daughter in with us so I’m a a lot more aware now of the cleaning especially (dust, allergens, etc.) and now she’s in here there’s so much less space to just junk up so I have to be more on top of my stuff too- God’s blessing from a challenging situation.

I watch these type of videos for all three of those reasons sometimes just watching someone else clean their space gives me satisfaction other times I watch so I can get motivated other times I listen and halfway watch while I do my cleaning and decluttering and go back after I’m done and watch the video in its entirety but you always crack me up and makes me want to come back and watch not just hear you but your voice is soothing to me I feel like I’m cleaning with a friend
