The real problem with Fimi, as a company, is that they don't know how to keep their products in stock and how to coordinate their product offerings. For example, when they came out with the X8-Pro drone, the TX10A transmitter (RokLink capable and offering 15km video transmission range for the X8-Pro as well as HDMI-out to feed video to large external monitors) was not available anywhere for a very long time (a year or more). Rather, only the older TX10 (not RokLink capable) was in stock everywhere at the time. And now, the TX10A transmitter is finally available everywhere, but the X8-Pro drone is now out of stock everywhere, and appears to be replaced by the new X8-Tele drone. Problem here is, the X8-Tele drone only has a 10km video transmission range (obviously a big step in the wrong direction) and uses SokLink transmission technology which appears to be incompatible with the TX10A transmitter, and there is no mention of a compatible version of the TX10A in the works. The X8-Tele drone does now provide a dual camera system with 30x zoom capability. Frankly, I'd rather have the greater transmission range of the X8-Pro/TX10A than the super zoom capability of the X8-Tele. And to be perfectly blunt, they should have increased the flight range on the new X8-Tele offering to at least 20km, in order to compete with DJI's new O4 video transmission system which provides 20km. So, why not just be happy with the little RC controller that comes with the drone?....because my cellphone screen is not bright enough to be used outdoors in the sun, even with a sunshade. And of course, the TX10A transmitter offers lots of other benefits beyond the 15km transmission range and the bright integral display screen, such as all the extra assignable switches, knobs and buttons for shortcuts and advanced functionality.

Give it time...if we have it in the USA (hopeping its not banned) They will probably come out with a tele v2 or Pro with the updated hardware. The chinese like to make use of older stock hardware. I myself was looking into getting the Tele however that shorter range stopped me too. I'll be content with my x8 v2 for now. Other than compass calibration woes, its been a great drone. I cant seem to get it calibrated properly even though I've tried many times over. I suspect it might have a weak compass module. Despite that it still flies just fine with the obligatory "compass interfiled" prompt.

My x8se 2020 is still going strong. The only weakness of all the versions has been the gimbal. As you pointed out, adjusting the gimbal gain to minimum in colder weather cures most of the jello and stutter. I use my Mini 3 Pro for most flights now, but if I need to do a waypoint flight, or the wind is up, then the old x8se gets the call.

Doesn't matter its a beast drone as it's brother the v2.. My suicide drone that goes above and beyond everything I've given it.. I've the v2 caught in winds that would of blown me away and it still comes back when ya think it's impossible... I had gusts of wind from over a kilometre away that were over 80ks and iad never expect it back but its the terminator and wins against the odds... Hehe... Love it

@@MiltonPapa Be careful doing high speed 180 turns in high wind. One of my front legs developed micro fractures from doing so, which I didn't notice until after I got a vibration warning & it auto landed. I had to use a magnifying glass to see them.

I was going to point out that vibration. It was just visible a couple of times early in the video. We used call that the Jello effect, but you explained it well. I believe this Christmas I might be getting myself a Fimi X8 Pro as an updated medium sized drone to take my DJI Mavic Pros place. I can already drop stuff with my Mavic but I do like the megaphone and especially that price! By Christmas if there are bugs they will be found and corrected by then. Who knows something else might come along. There might be a new Vtol or Plane I want more. This past Christmas I bought the Potensic Atom 3 Axis for a Sub 250gram drone. (Great drone too) Potensic has updated it a couple of times since and it now has a zoom and a timer function. I believe they improved the gimbal level for some people too. I was fortunate and never had a problem with gimbal level. Good stuff as always my friend!

Pretty good review Steve. How you stay out in that cold is beyond me. For a sub-market type bird, it looks like that one has a lot to recommend it. I thought the colors looked good in normal mode. The 4K 30 is the only drawback I can think of so they may have a winner this time around.

I still have the se 2020 model and it stays in the air for 30 minutes so i wouldn't doubt the plus battery has 45 minutes. I got mine for around $300 and it still works perfect I love it. I would definitely like this model I need to check the price out after the video.

THANK YOU CAPITAN DRONE! I know there have been people outside the continental US that have done reviews on the pro, but glad you were able to get around to it. For under $700 tight now USD with two batteries, this drone is head and shoulders above anything else in it's class. For the US level 8 wind rate, is snow and light rain resistant, the larger sensor, and seems to do just about everything the Air 2 S would do. Is it perfect? No.. If you really want high speed slow motion in 4K then yes DJI would be better. Will this do just about everything and anything your average non consumer drone pilot would want? Yup. It's top end speed, and other features are all in line with other drones on the market. I thought they had a low light software option similar to the Autel. Maybe I was wrong on that.

Great vid. Did you test the minimal focus lenght of the camera? I cannot find it in the specs. Can it make a sharp video of an object which is 0.5m from the camera?

Not tested because that is an option rarely requested. There is a reason drones rarely have the ability to close focus and that is because the lens is design for landscape photography.

No. The Mini 3 is great because it is small, portable and under 250 grams. This means you can travel to many countries and use it in different countries with no problems.

Nice review. I would have liked to have seen you check out the colour presets - those are messed up with the X8 2022 version. Auto white balance does a decent job, but shows noticeable changes as you pass over varying terrain. Sunny and Cloudy are way off, and we have to use Fluorescent, which is pretty close but not perfect.

Sounds like your white balance is on AUTO. Setting the white balance or exposure or frame rate or aperture on a drone is only effective if you keep the camera pointing in the exact same direction, so most people leave everything on AUTO and it is up to the intelligence of the camera to continually change the settings, which then results in what you’ve noticed.

When taking stills, you should bring the camera farther than a few meters as otherwise the focal distance of the drone will reduce the quality as that is not the intended use case. In addition of course you should zoom the pictures to 100% native size to show the actual quality, as by just fitting a 8000x6000 rectangle on a 16:9 video (often just 1440p or 1080p for actual users) won't show the real quality while the cropping/digital zooming capability is very valuable to looking at the photos from any screen. Considering I've had to wait for my Fimi to warm up before it agreed to fly, the drone/batteries absolutely do have temperature sensors on them, you can even see their output in the battery monitoring UI. It is interesting, though, that they don't automatically adjust the gimbal gain depending on the temperature. I'd guess it might also have some side effects

I don't know what you think but to me that camera is beautiful. Both video and picture quality looks top notch. It's funny when the obstacle avoidance wasn't bleeping I thought ahh finally that is usually so annoying. I could see it being helpful if it didn't stop so it alerted you when you were close to something but it stops you so it doesn't need to blare. Yes Fimi seems to be on their game.

Thanks for making the video. I think this may be my next UAV! The weight is a bit of a downer, It doesn't make the cut for some countries entry parameters. I'd like to know more about the video settings. Is it possible to lock the shutter speed and ISO, or does it auto adjust? Does it have any type of LOG or flat profile intended for editing and dynamic range? I'm still al little nervous though, I was on an extended shoot in the desert (50 degrees celcius). My little Anafi handled the heat for some tricky shots. My assistant brought a FIMI along with him and it dropped out of the sky after about 1 minute in the heat, Yikes! Cheers!

For under 250 gram weight, have a look at the Fimi Mini 3 that I reviewed recently. The X8 has plenty of manual camera settings. Not many people use Manual settings on consumer drones for obvious reasons, so there is not much to gain unless taking a photo in bad lighting.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I'll definitely have a look at the mini 3. Consumer drones are quite useful for capturing angles that just make scenes feel really dynamic and dramatic. As long as the motion blur matches, the rest can be lined up in software. If the exposure, shutter and ISO are jumping around, the video is usually too jarring to use, even as a quick edit. It's like action camera shots. Sitting through a long series of blown out fisheye shots is terrible, but editing some intriguing angles into a full edit can really raise the bar. Do you plan to buy and review a Fimi X8 Tele pro, when that's finally available?

What would be intersting for me is the automatic modes, maybe you have tested it out, when its following you, and the object awereness detects something, can it just continue and fly aroud it and keep following you or the ovject you marked? When bought the drone, it said that there are many defects. In this case, it's really annoying because I don't know if the unfamiliar drone is defective or how to use it. Rather than introducing the features, please take a closer look at the drone and let us know the pros and cons, the shortcomings, and the parts that are likely to break down.

The two most important things in a flying camera (camera drone) are fly-ability and camera quality. This appears to satisfy both of those. I did find it interesting that Bangood has the option of two batteries but not for a US plug, only an EU plug. Maybe it comes with an adapter. For under $700 w/2 batteries, it looks like a viable option, especially if it doesn't have any geofencing. I couldn't see what amount the discount code allows because I'd have to log in first and I didn't want to make an account at this time.

Ever since DJI forced all mini 3/4 flyers to operate with remote ID on regardless what battery was being used has gotten the cold shoulder from many. That was the whole point to the mini series to fly without remote ID. But since they gave people the option to fly with a bigger battery they now force remote Id with it being permanently on. They could have easily let people use the “honor system” with the ability to turn on or off the ID pending battery size…Thankfully this far superior full size FIMI drone lets users manually turn off the remote ID.

@@johnegan9063Sounds like you’re uploading the Low Res version to KZbin. If you record in 4K your file is large on the micro SD card. If you upload that large file to KZbin then KZbin shows a 4K video. If you goof up and upload a 720p video, you get 720p. How can you goof up? Well, you could do something silly and upload the files off your phone or even worse you could upload the LRV files off the micro SD card (those are low res 720p files of anything you recorded). You’ll figure it out.

So I had a quick question and was hoping to get it answered, I currently own a DJI Mini 2 and am considering upgrading to air 3. I currently live in the United States, and if I register it there and I travel internationally, maybe to Europe, would I need to do or register something to fly there. I don’t know anything about drone registration because I haven’t had that issue with mini 2 but if I want to upgrade.

Drone regs work like this. You buy the drone in the country you live, you register the drone with your government. You can travel anywhere in the world with your drone… BUT… in order to fly in another country, you then fall under the regulations of that country (same as driving a car). This means you need to brush up on the drone regs of the country you wish to fly your drone in so that you don’t do something you’re not permitted to do.

I believe you simply need to attach the module, power on the drone, open the app. Make certain you’re using the correct app and all firmware updates are done.

Yes. In the review I had the basic battery and not the high capacity battery, which simply means it does not come with the high capacity battery and you have to buy it separately.

How does the obstacle avoidance work on a tree with no leaves? I would expect it to work on a solid object as it did, but Im much more concerned about not being high enough to make it over a tree, especially during an emergency RTH function.
