The engine wasen't in good condition.. i owned one about 10 years ago.. a modified th04, 3" exhaust 410cc injectors larger intercooler and a modified apc gave it almost 300hp at the wheels.. it made more to the wheels stock then this one did..

+SWEetYo2B Yup, and the truth of it is that it was not made to go fast in a typical drag race but in the *REAL WORLD* when you are rolling along on some back country twisties or even in city traffic when you keep it just below boost and roll it on, it flat fucking flies. I've owned BMW 535is modded and my 900 Turbos will smoke it with a stage one mod (2.8 FPR + APC tweaks). I've owned 8 900s so I know just how smoothly and deceptively fast they accelerate up to 110 or so. Especially below 45 degrees F. On the way from Seattle to Portland this weekend a BMW 750iL driver got a good shocker when we were dead even (in my '92 900T) several times and once I pulled him. He never ran me.

+SWEetYo2B Also I saw no mention of 2.8 or rising rate fuel pressure regulator in this test, which is how you make a SAAB 900T go fast in the first place. See my comment above to SWEetYo2B. Exhaust helps but you gotta be pushing something more through it from the get go. I would say that based on owning an SPG 900 and several 900Ts that I can damn near approximate the SPG 185hp (crank) with the 2.8 fuel pressure regulator and non-surgical mods to the APC box with a goddamn screwdriver. Yes! Do a diesel challenge! Personal recommendation - ship in a BMW e46 330d from Europe! They go for about 2000$ here, of course the price will double before it gets to Australia, but get yourself a wagon and you will have a practical, 7liters/100km consuming 3.0l straight-6 135kw 390Nm little smoking monster! Doesn't seem like a lot of kw, but trust me, because of the torque, that thing pulls! It is very reliable, so You won't need to order parts overseas often, for example, the specific engine lasts over 1 000 000km before anything has to be done to it. That's why all of eastern Europe is flooded with them. If you have the opportunity, do get yourself one, the e46 model by many is called the best BMW generation of all time. Aaand You haven't done any BMWs, or a lot of European stuff really. Here we don't count Swedish cars as European, they are Swedish :D And a VW Golf or Polo is as representative of Europe, as a Dodge Dart is of USA. Besides, in Australia, I bet such a rare car would have resale value! Anyway, thanks Marty and Moog for a great series :)

+TheSuperSwain In Australia, when you first get your license to drive by its called the "P Plate" because you have to stick a P onto your car somewhere and there are a few restrictions on the cars you are allowed to drive, like no V8 etc

+PoisonedGas no v8, can't put in turbos charge or supercharger in them, can't have high horse car or, can't have and if caught you have to get the car insures again they make sure you have to fix it up or you can't drive it Let face it there a lot of car resistance in Australia, can't have an low car and a loud car, and cop get a lot of hate towards them laws, because car crashes, I don't agree with them but we can't do nothing about them😢 At the end of the day I'm the one who want to right about the car laws in Australia

+LegacyMuse SAAB is one of the greatest parts of my life. I own 4 currently. But SAAB ownership can be a pricy and exhausting emotional rollercoaster. Just a fair warning. Also, starting in '89 GM started to leave some of their fingerprints on SAAB models. Seemed like each year, they got a little less SAABy. For me, older is better. Not necessarily in quality or reliability, I just really hate GM. (most SAAB enthusiasts feel this way). The classic 900 (like wassabi) is an awesome car. Or if looking newer, the 1st gen 9-5 is a great car. I own both.

Colby McKamey I agree. I currently have a 97 900 turbo with some upgrades and a tune, and it's an amazing car. SAAB fixed a lot of the issues that make GM cars bad, but there are still signs of low quality in areas. My dream is to have a good 99 turbo someday.
