this movie is in my top 5 cinema experiences of all time. Despite the issues with the plot, the cinema was packed and the death sequences were so fun, the audience reactions made it a great night out. This was definitely one that needed to be watched with a mass audience to fully enjoy.

I have a bit of an explanation. I would say the "premonition" feels "longer" because it's "in the mind" of the protagonist. Like when you're sleeping, time seems to flow much slower than reality. Heck, there's been times when I'd be asleep and I felt I've slept for 2 hours when it's only been 10 minutes. That and the scene obviously wants to establish all the characters before the big meltdown. I give it a bit more leeway since unlike FD1, these characters don't know each other versus a group of classmates/friends board a plane. Kinda be like if we went to a movie theater and we out of 7 other people get established as part of the survivors for this "final destination scenario". So, the crash happening in reality is a "lot sooner" because it's in reality instead of someone's mind.

In the opening sequence when the coffee spills on officer burke, if you look closely at the base of the cup you can see a black disc... this is a vibration plate. It helped to create the illusion that the coffee was shaking way more than it should. it also made sure the cup would tip over!!!

What irritated me on this is kimberley wouldn't have drowned at the end anyway because in her premonition she dies last after Evan making her first in line but when her friends die the cop saved her meaning death skips her and at the point she's drowning the cop is actually in line to die before her as death never came after him to be skipped.

Was clear after the first one the studio and producers want to exploite it, and getting more budget they sure increase production quality but focusing on the deaths spectacle making it more elaborate and cinematic but less grounded to the point of almost a cartoon, however even if they were careless about the rules and concepts established before this movie was the one that really put final destination as a horror franchise and maybe is the most memorable

Back in the 90's there was actually a huge problem with unsafe log trucks on the road around here that were killing people. There was one incident about two hours away from here where a log truck lost its load going down a side road and crushed 14 members of a family who were on a hayride on an adjoining road below the surface road.

I feel Final Destination 2 is underrated it's not all much talked about compared to the other ones and 2 arguably have the best opening scene of the franchise but this a true sequel the third and fourth movies goes into their own stories but this one is heavily connected to the first movie and I feel this movie have the most suspense in it like the concept of New Life can defeat death formula.

This might be a very odd comparison but this movie and the first one are in the same league as Crank 2 (2009) is to Crank (2006), there is a 50% chance people prefer the second movie over the original, because it embraces the things that worked with the first movie. I'm open for disagreement.

Well after Jaws came out, a lot of people did take it seriously to the point where people in real life started killing sharks right and left because of that fear. Jaws is still an iconic film, but perhaps they did too well with instilling that fear in sharks and the open ocean. Although the movie also had the opposite effect, where people were interested in learning about, and saving sharks. I wouldn't be suprised if these FInal Destination films had that same affect on some poeple who have been in real life situations, or are overly paranoid about bad things happening, such as this pile up. But at the end of the day, like you said Iain, they are made to play on your fears, and not to be taken seriously.

With the time disparity, think about it this way. She was in a daze for how long? We’re not sure. Also, the time that they hesitated on the ramp also takes up a good chunk of time in which they all would’ve been on the road already. Finally, it may seem as a longer sequence because it keeps jumping between cars showing different events so what seems to be a two minute sequence is really maybe like 10 seconds just being shown over and over again from each other’s perspective until we are shown progression in the form of the cars going by each other.

Why would death give them premonitions if that takes away from his plan? I have to agree with Iain, because he's bored. I mean think about it, you have been doing this job since the development of organic life on the planet, that gets boring after a billion years. After some time a lifeform comes up that becomes aware of it's surroundings, and starts creating a civilization. Death is like "Not only that I can fuck with them, but I can also use the fruits of their labor to make them die in very outlandish ways. My job just got a lot more fun 😀"

Idk about the UK, but in the US, flatbed trailers intended to transport any round objects (trees, pipes, etc) have to have security braces along the length of the trailer, which kind of look like metal ribs, specifically to prevent things like this from happening.

The biggest problem with the pile up scene is the SUV finally getting hit by the semi that kills her friends, it's literally IMPOSSIBLE. If you pay attention to where Kimmy pulls in front of the ramp, you can clearly see her SUV is behind the Concrete dividers, even before Officer burk gets up to the window. You can see the concert dividers through the trucks windows. For the semi to hit the SUV means it would have needed to go through those dividers, and concrete dividers are heavy. That truck is not moving them, they might move a little on impact. But what would have actually happened is the semi is speeding towards the SUV slammed into the divider in the way, and bounced off back into the freeway

Love your reviews, dudes! Definitely helping me get through my work day. Had a suggestion for you when you finish the Final Destinstion series (can't wait for thr slamming of parts 3 and 4). Its an obscure action movie called Mean Guns, starring Christopher Lambert, Ice-T and Debra Van Valkenburg (Mercy from The Warriors). It's one I remembered as a preview on my Long Kiss Goodnight VHS. I especially think Gary will eviscerate it. Even if you don't review it, give it a watch.

Not following established rules and canon is a huge failing of a lot of the writers today that are handling franchises. It's really amazing that Hollywood has still to catch on to the fact that people do care about that stuff, since they're always trying to determine why films are not as profitable as their predecessors.
@FinalStigma
@FinalStigma 3 жыл бұрын
No, you can't blame the whole of Hollywood for it. Often times, it's just the individuals at the executive-level who force the script writers & directors to rush their movies that you should blame. Occasionally, you do get people like Kevin Feige, the producer in Marvel Studios, who would threaten to quit his job than to compromise, which ultimately led to Disney making him the president of the studio.

Final Destination 2 is the most played Final Destination movie EVER out of the 5 films this movie comes on TV constantly all the time either on the Syfy channel or movie channels like STARZ or Cinemax but 2 been constantly coming on TV for years more than the other 4 sometimes Final Destination 1, 2 and 3 would be the only three shown and the other two be ignored but 2 always comes on TV. I love Final Destination 2 it's the perfect sequel and heavily connects to the first movie like a sequel should be and I like there's a rule of new life can successfully beat death like having a baby or like in 5 kill a innocent and take their life see I love those concepts in the movies I like that Clear return cause we didn't know what happened to her after the first film sad Alex was killed off due to Devon Sawa wanted more money he should have still returned cause Ali Larter returned still but it was still a good movie without him I also kind of didn't like Kimberly is more of a psychic than Alex either but she had Clear to help her with everything Rory has the best death his death made me jump when I first saw this movie but FD2 is a great sequel to the first I believe Kimberly and Burke are dead cause Death will always be after them there's no way they can still be alive.

All the other character freak out except Officer Thomas Burke. He is cool and not worried at all, acts as if he wasn't in the accident. They shouldn't have added his death scene then it might have worked better. Expect Kimberly and Thomas, all the character are unlikable.

I go back and forth on my rankings, but after my most recent re-watch of the series I rank them 1, 3, 2, 5, and then 4. The only one I really dislike is 4, and it's mostly because the acting is just atrocious. I'm tempted to put 5 in my number 3 spot just for that ending alone. It was just an awesome way of tying everything together, and I can't think of a better way for the series to have ended, but a movie is more than just it's ending, and with as bad as the rest of the movie was I can't rank it higher. I know a lot of people really like the 2nd one, but I end up liking it less and less each time I watch it. The death scenes do look great though. I don't know what happened with 4 and 5, if it was the 3D or what, but the CGI in those movies just looks terrible. Even though part of me wants more sequels I ultimately hope they leave the series alone. It's just not possible to end it better than 5 did.

I thought I was the only one who saw the scythe in the grille of the truck. I thought it was a "belt" wrapped around it of some kind

The reason the beige car with the Mom and kid in it explodes is because it's a Ford Pinto.

You guys keep mentioning how the deaths are unrealistic, it's Death's way of being aware that Hollywood is filming :p

I enjoyed fd2, but it really took some wind out of the series with the lack of rules, consistently and attention to detail. I always thought it was a pretty mean-spirited film as well.

This the only FD film that's actually connected to the first film besides 5 I like the rule of having a baby or new life can successfully beat death but Alex being killed off was devastating but he has the weakest death of the franchise being killed by a brick isn't brutal maybe cinder block would have been a bigger deal for his death but FD2 is Jeffrey Reddick favorite of the franchise it was good to see Clear return but unfortunately die I like how suspenseful this movie is.
