Final Fantasy VII Aeris's Theme Sankyo Orpheus Music Box

It’s difficult to put into words how I feel, I am simply overwhelmed with emotion. After many years of searching, the search is finally over. My life is now complete.
Number 82, of the limited-edition Sankyo Orpheus Final Fantasy VII Aeris’s Music Box. Proudly displayed next to her cousin, the Sankyo Orpheus Chrono Cross Radical Dreams Music Box.
Only 100 were specially selected, numbered and license by SquareSoft in 2002. The clarity of the 3-part Sankyo movement is breath-taking, it is truly an exceptional piece of craftsmanship.

With the FF7 Remake out now, and all the small music boxes they're releasing. I sure hope they'll make a second run of these. It's the only way I'll ever get to have one.

There a few places where you can commission a similar one. It might not as nice because Sankyo modules are super expensive but it will be pretty close.

They’ve just started taking pre-orders for a new version of this box, on the Japanese Square-Enix site. (Well, at least, I’ve learned of it a few hours ago) The wooden box is slightly different, the external cover is now engraved, they’ve changed the name of the character to reflect new spelling, etc, but the mechanism looks identical)

It has always been my dream to own this. I remember seeing it advertised on the back of a games magazine in the late 90s and since watched as the price has sky rocketed over the years. Can you give me a hint what you paid for it? It’s a hard item to put a price on as there as so few known to exists and those that do are priced way too high. Would love to know how much one actually sells for. Also can I come round some time and have a listen? Promise I won’t steal it 😜

Yeah for a replica lol an officially licensed og version can’t be bought for that price and was last sold for 50k. I actually have a low numbered music box, #21, and I wouldn’t dream of parting with it for less then 6 figures

The announcement was made a few months ago and preorders are still live, release quarter one of 2025. Looking forward to hearing how the new movement compares. Hoping they make use of the additional notes in the remake.
