I love how despite being a joke character, in a fight, Gilgamesh is as far from a joke as they come. The guy can leave you face-down in the dirt really quickly if you give him the chance. It's one of the reasons why I'd love to see FF Gilgamesh face-off with Fate Gilgamesh....and not just to see how Fate Gil would react to meeting his FF counterpart, but to see just how insane a fight between them would actually be.

Excalipoor was the biggest testament to Gilgamesh's skill ever. Dude ended up with a weapon that dealt literally 1 DAMAGE, and still turned it into a killing machine by attacking 2000 TIMES in the span of one second. Definitely the Bladesman of Legend.

The pain, the torment, the absolute nightmare that is all the protorelic missions and this? This is your reward? Worth it? Absofuckinglutely it is. 10/10 fight. And I'm not actually sure that theres any other fight in FF thats remotely close to this

Why did this guy get so many fights and a half an hour of music, unbelievable sidetracking of resources for a waste of space arc that did no service to the game or story. This character was a throwaway from *the instant* he was introduced and they just can't let it die. Zombie production.

Do you even know who the character is? I don’t even play the games, but I know of him, and that’s the same reason why the devs spent so much time on him. He’s an iconic character across the series, and you can even tell the team had a blast making this, with the attack names, voice lines/acting, and even the aesthetic of the environment. If it was “zombie production” as you said, even the dev’s would be getting old of it, and that would show in its design. And being a “throwaway” is usually the point of side-quests, though he does have story relation as Sephiroth summons him earlier in the game (I forget why cause I never played the game). If you truly believe what you just said, you may want to rethink it before the actual Final Fantasy fans get their few remarks.
