I love how whenever Cloud and Tifa are alone in the game they're always staged far away from one another. They might have fleeting touches or moments of closeness but when they talk there's always distance. Then in this scene Tifa finally reaches out for him and he drops his mask to reach out to her too. He's not just hugging her back to make her feel better, he feels just as awful on the inside and needs comfort too, hence why he holds her so hard that he's hurting her. Really beautiful way to develop a relationship between the two while leaving room for further exploration in the future parts imo.

Hm, I always assumed that he doesn't always know his own strength due to the experiments, thus I thought he hugged her too tight purely by accident. That or maybe he just isn't used to this type of affection. Or perhaps it's a bit of both, who knows. It's definitely true tho that they are both rather awkward & reserved, slow to show their feelings to others. They are kind of perfect for each other in that regard, as they've both been thru some shit & could both help each other by sharing their repressed feelings with one another. That being said, I have always felt like this was the Canon pairing & that this was the real love interest for Cloud. As much as we might hate it, Aerith is dead & gone, & now it's Cloud & Tifa's chance to be together & start a life with one another. Of course the Remake could change all that. I kind of hope that it doesn't, as I am a big fan of this pairing. As cruel as it may sound, Aerith can stay dead for all I care.

Very well said. They're both victims. They both went though horrific and traumatizing events when they were younger. Keep in mind he still also has the mind of a 16 year old because of the trauma he went through. Mentally he had been stunted a bit. But needing comfort would be normal. Barret wanted Tifa to hold on to that anger like he said before heading to sector 5 to see Marlene. Cloud though let her cry on his shoulder genuinely wanting to comfort her because he does understand how she feels. Even told her that it's okay to cry. Maybe not in those words exactly but, it helped her feel better really. She literally thought that it was stupid to cry with him tell her that wasn't true gave her major comfort. He let her cry it out. Knowing she needed it.

Even in the original I was more in favor of Cloud and Tifa. After crisis core, it was hard to ship Aerith with anyone but Zack. (Every time Aerith flirts with Cloud I’m a just like “No!” I get it Zack went MIA on you and it’s been years but if only you knew! He was coming for you! He was so goddamn close!) I think Aerith and Zack are more like what we expect the main male and female protagonists to be in a typical game. Whereas Cloud and Tifa get larger doses of realism to their characters and relationship. Relationships in real life are messy, hard, and complicated. Love doesn’t happen overnight and the qualities that make for a good date are not always the ones that make for a good life partner. Mental health is a real obstacle (I would argue both have ptsd, depression, and some form of anxiety) in a romantic relationship. Lasting relationships require work and liking someone is just the start. The rest is learning to accept flaws, having trust, improving communication, making compromises, mutual support, and commitment. I don’t like Cloud and Tifa together because they are the two male and female leads standing at the end of the game but because of the relationship they were given throughout the game. I’m also liking the new voice actors for Cloud and Tifa. Tifa’s new voice seems to match her character, she sounds more mature and weighed down by life. She sounds calming but also tired. Tired of all this death, violence, and tragedy. I’m not too sure about what they plan to do with the storyline but they are taking the characters in this game and turning the dial way up.

I whole heartily agree with this point of view of Tifa and Cloud's relationship being a lot more realistic and complex which is why I do prefer them together because they grow close despite of it all. It's not that idealistic romances don't happen in real life too but it's really not as common. It's even more realistic in the original game as I feel like this remake from what I've seen tries to make it more of the fantasizing romance in the way they portray the female characters toward Cloud. Tifa is seen calling out for attention from Cloud when they were children in the flashback vision as if she liked him already, when in the original game they actually weren't that close as children and his subconscious in the lifestream even says that he wasn't invited to play with her friend group even though he wanted to be despite thinking her friends were immature. Maybe it was because he purposefully stayed away due to his own insecurities as he admitted himself, but it also could have been because she didn't quite notice him as much back then. People seem to think though that childhood friends must be in love with each other as kids to be soulmates which just isn't true. However, it makes for a more romantic story I suppose which is why I didn't like that they changed it that way in the remake. I am hoping that they somehow disprove that vision to further Cloud's disillusionment and finding of his true self but sadly I doubt they'd do that with how they are portraying characters like Tifa and Jessie toward Cloud. I also seem to recall in the original that while Tifa did cry at a few different points in the story, she tended to hide it from Cloud by turning around, having her back toward him or running away to hide her weakness. She didn't go crying on his chest like in this remake, but again, since it's more romantic and touching, they changed her character. While it's definitely not a bad thing to show your moment of weakness openly, it was one of her character flaws I suppose to try and hide it. She was just trying to put on a strong front, because she is strong, both mentally and physically. While I do enjoy touching and/or romantic gestures like that, I was disappointed that they changed her character to make her sound more favorable as a partner to Cloud by essentially making it more of the idealistic romance. Aerith and Cloud are definitely more of the idealistic romance, which isn't necessarily a bad thing which is why I agree that both Tifa and Aerith are great for him, but I prefer Tifa with Cloud.

@@Rasereda I do agree with you're point but, here's what I remember from everything about the original game. They had to cut a lot from the original. Midgar was smaller at the begining of the game and the team admitted to that. That was after playing just that part a long time ago when they began working on the remake. So maybe they wanted to put in a scene like this in the original but, were restrictions with what they had at the time. For me personally I welcomed this because it finally showed her that she had a breaking point and just wanted to cry it out. So when Cloud came out he heard her out and even let her cry where Barret told her to hold on to that anger. That wasn't really healthy for her or anyone in the real world. Even Cloud let his guard down and dropped the tough guy attitude to console her when she really needed it. Considering this is just the first part I have a feeling we may see more like this in the next game. My only hope is that if what Nomura said is true that it'll still continue the original beats at least with major moments amplified. I'm curious about the alternative timeline though since Zack is alive. I know spoiler it's been out a while. How are the small moments like this going to play out. The major point should play out the same way but, small moments like this...has me curious though.

Johnny Badass all about perspective. Yes Nomuras style showed itself at the very end but, at the end of the day here’s the facts: .. the game technically ended the same was as the original minus the plot dump, the characters are continuing as normal to Calm as we expected game 2 to start, and from what we’ve seen *SPOILER AHEAD* the changes the deaths that the plot ghosts made are potentially in a different time and the two don’t interact. If you want my final speculation, I think that the Sephiroth we saw in this game is the Sephiroth from Advent Children, who is manifesting through Jenovas cells to try and make sure that the events that will eventually lead to him being unsuccessful in ending the planet don’t happen. Remember: Sephiroth is supposed to be up at North Crater, so all the incarnations we saw of him were technically just him manifesting using the Jenova clones. If my hunch is right, then they haven’t strayed from the Story at all and are sticking to cannon extremely well.

Well to me it more or less was the parts of Zack that made him like Aerith, i think at this point Cloud may love Aerith, but only cuz of his Zack side. Not to mention there are two big things that might point out to Cloud's identity crisis, first being on the playground were she mentions Cloud is a lot like the first guy she loves (Zack) and the big one is this quote "Whatever happens you cannot fall in love, even if you have it isn't real." this is already hinting that the feelings Zack had are now in his mind Real Cloud loves Tifa or atleast the real Cloud leans on Tifa. I'm also amazed how desperate that some people twist Aerith's words and play it in favor for them.

Ugggghhhhh! I love this scene!!! The crazy thing about Cloud, is how dense he is and how he's an emotional brick wall. As someone who is exactly the same, I try to keep other people together even when I feel just, broken. So when Cloud hugs Tifa back, he squeezes her until it hurts because he hurts, he would never tell her that, but to watch someone who even Cloud thought was tough fall apart like that, and after watching a whole plate fall on the section. That hug wasn't for Tifa, it was for him.

In my opinion I would say that Cloud never had a romantic interest in Aerith. He grew fond of her because his memories are intertwined with Zack. Or more so he thinks he is Zsck in some way. He always wants to protected her because it was someone Zack knew and cared deeply about. If you think about it Cloud also is extremely upset about her death, but not because he loved her, but because he failed to protect her just like he did with Zack. Basically bringing my opinion from Advent Children.

I can't say much about the original, never played it but i know the majority of the story and its kinda impossible to not hear about final fantasy 7 if you do any sort of gaming considering the games acclaim. As a woman myself I can clearly see how sexualized she is but i dont see anything wrong with it, tifa is awesome. She's sexy as all hell, kicks major ass, and there's moments where she's just adorable. It's true she looks amazing but I feel she wouldn't be as well loved as she is if that was all that's to her. Also, when answering questions from her or about her, try to give the answer that best suits her (e.g. there's a question from Chocobo Sam asking you to describe Tifa; answering "she's in great shape" boosts Tifa's affection and may lower Aerith's).

Not knowing this even existed, I went back and got this scene myself expecting some differences. Interestingly enough, the dialogue before and after this night doesnt change. I think the writing favors aerith's dream sequence, what with cloud's previous mini speech to elmyra and the whole "shes calling out to me" the morning after. I dont have a dog in this 'shipping' war or whatever, but when I got aerith's scene the first time, I wasnt surprised because cloud seemed to have her on the brain ever since she was taken. Not that this tifa scene doesnt work, but the other felt like it fit seamlessly with the pacing it was going for.

I am absolutely CloTi but many times I think she deserves better. If he's not going to treat her with the same affection he treats Aerith, (and it's not just about touches, but emotional availability) then he doesn't deserve to have her.

I feel bad for Tifa. Shes always fighting for the relationship or asking questions about Cloud and Aerith. Tbh when Cloud hugged her, the view of flowers and water made me think he was remembering Aerith will die and be buried as well. His mind always goes back to her and even Tifa brings her up in her own scenes.

I feel their relationship has plateaued at friendship and I feel sorry for Tifa because, well, her situation is what I actually see more often than not. @@MrBennywan I'm sorry but I have to disagree. In my opinion, Clouds relationship with Tifa has no basis. They just seem like two friends plateaued in their relationship. And in real life, for me at least, it wasnt my relationship with my best friend of many years that sustained, but the man I got to know within 2 days who I am with for the rest of my life now. I dont think Cloud is ready for a relationship with either of these ladies as he has a lot of issues. But I do believe the moment he met Aerith, the best was brought out of him organically. From my own experiences and those around me (although it's silly cause this is a game lol), Tifa has stronger but one sided feelings. Cloud likes Tifa, but is more organically in love with Aerith.

I dont think having a childhood crush usually lasts very long in most real life situations. Cloud isnt the same kid he was when he left his villiage either. I think he still cares for Tifa but grew more feelings romantically towards aerith. He seems sidetracked in his mind too, like hes thinking of something or someone else instead of Tifa in this scene sadly.

@@lunaelrikuThe game is rated T for Teen, so a kissing scene isn’t asking for too much since that literally falls in line with the explicit content that’s capable of being shown with that rating. I was talking more so about Cloud and Tifa having sex. If they do it in Remake like they did in the OG, then it will definitely be alluded to but never fully confirmed or specified because of the game’s particular rating. Thusly, Square leaving it up to the gamer’s interpretation of what really went down between the two of them. Who knows though? Square could make Parts 2&3 rated M due to the content that has yet to be shown in the story (Sephiroth’s slaughter of Nibelheim etc.) just like they are doing with FFXVI and it’s M rating. However, given how they want FF7R to be their more accessible and commercial Final Fantasy game, that probably won’t happen. It’d be dope if it did though.

I think you have to choose to go to tifa first in the sewers. There's a couple other things that might impact it but just pick options tifa would like when you play and you'll get it

It's one out of 3 different scenes locked behind choices. Every player won't play this games enough times to see all 3 scenes, and therefore it's hidden. What would be the case of hidden for you?

@@MrNinosan hidden, would be something that everyone misses easily like the quest where you find the keys in the door in the factory in sector 7. Or a weapon that's hiding behind nps or boxes. That's, hidden. This is more like, optional, because you got Aerith, Tifa and Barret, choices aka options that reflect upon your decisions during the game. In which there's a HIDDEN, affection system if you haven't played ff7. So I guess the scene where you have a date with tifa at the gold saucer, is hidden right? I mean, the word hidden is bait way to get attention and views, whatever works for you I guess. I mean, 3 weeks you got 31k views...if you changed the title before uploading 3 weeks back, I bet you probably won't even get 6k views.

Guys this is just my opinion pls don’t attack me but I really just think aerith and cloud are so much more suitable for each other. I like their chemistry way better I just feel like tifa is more like a friend to cloud. And aerith and clouds story together is way more interesting and it makes the whole game a lot more enjoyable.. i love tifa as a character though, she’s energetic, caring and beautiful. I just think aerith is better cloud..
