For me it's pretty obvious that Cloud loves Aerith, and Aerith loves Cloud, expecially with the resolution scene. Some (and most unfortunatelly for me) loves Cloti, Tifa in general more than Clerith and Aerith. They ship Cloti bc they're childhood friends (I won't argue abt why they weren't childhood friends) and bc they found each other in the life stream, they had sex (based on people interpretation) and bc they live together. Some people even hates Aerith bc she's flirting with Cloud, while Cloud obviously loves Aerith. Some other (like me) prefers Clerith, loved the chemistry between them, the way Cloud was more confortable, free to express himself and he was smilling. I personnaly loved his reaction after seeing Aerith in this dress, and the resolution was speaking for itself imo. But I won't change my mind, you don't change your, so believe in what you wanna believe, let me believe in what I want to, and enjoy the game. After all nothing is pretty canon here.

I've just realized why Tifa and Cloud have such a slow and hard time developing their romantic relationship for so much of the story. It's because their feelings for each other are so interlinked with the tragedies from their past. So the both of them are avoiding confronting their feelings for each other in order to avoid confronting their mutual trauma and memories. While this is more evident with Cloud since he is literally avoiding learning his true history and the gaps in his memory (gaps that directly involve Tifa in many cases) Tifa is also afraid of both digging through her own feelings and pushing Cloud, one because she has her own traumatic memories of death and loss, and also because she is afraid of potentially losing Cloud as well. But in the end its so true that they wanted to be together, it's so obvious with the way they subconsciously interact in the remake with things like touches and verbal/visual cues. I hope that the remake fulfills Something for them more satisfactorily than the ambiguous answers the original provides. I love Aerith, but I believe Cloud's love for her had room to develop while he was avoiding his love for Tifa, since their relationship is so complicated due to their history and personal issues. With Aerith things were simply easier, not to mention she reminded him of his tragically deceased mother, so he allowed himself to fall hard for her. It's difficult to say what would have happened if Aerith lived, but it's my personal opinion that Cloud and Tifa were meant to be together. I really wonder where the Remake will take all of this.

That's a respectable take, but I don't think you're quite grasping the concept of the fake and real Cloud and just how fractured his mind actually is. It's not just that Cloud has amnesia he literally has a fake persona that's in control of his body. While the real Cloud is trapped inside his own mind. He created this fake persona because he couldn't cope with the fact that he couldn't make it into SOILDER like he had promised Tifa and also the fact that his best friend Zack had died. So he lied to himself about who he truly was and built this fake persona. The problem is that Cloud can't connect his true feelings to this fake persona and basically is a passenger in his own body. We never see the real Cloud and how he feels in OG until Tifa repaired his mind in the Lifestream. But in Remake Nojima's changed this to where the real Cloud appears in brief moments when he's with Tifa. There's a noticeable difference in the way he way he acts towards her after he remembers the promise. Tifa isn't forthcoming about how she feels about Cloud because he's not the the same Cloud she remembers. He does things that she knows the real Cloud would never do. Like trying to murder Johnny in cold blood for being a talker. It's not quite that the two of them are trying to ignore how they feel. Cloud can't say anything because he's trapped in his own mind and Tifa can't confess her love to Cloud because he feels like a stranger to her most of the time.

And as far as Aerith goes. For many years, Cloud and Tifa have been holding favor for one another. Facing the impending final battle with Sephiroth, they at last confirm together their feelings of desire for one another.- FF 25th memorial Ultimania Vol. 2, pg. 23 Cloud never fell for her otherwise that would mean Tifa had lost his favor at some point. @@Soldier3rd With all the PTSD flashbacks of Tifa and everything, they've set up for a lot to be unpacked and developed for Cloud and Tifa. I imagine for new players who never played the OG, they'll be wondering what that's all about, what the backstory is. That first flashback with little Tifa when Jessie asked about their relationship I thought was one of the most brilliantly done parts of the game as it shows and sets up so much, with the POV from Cloud looking at her, looking away as he sees the other kids with her, Tifa thinking he's ignoring her because of her. And then to later show the Promise scene, showing he just wanted to be 1 on 1 with her, and that it wasn't her he was avoiding but rather the other kids. That's definitely something I'm looking forward to being developed upon.

WELP Smiley It’s not your fault and I don’t blame you, but you have an incorrect perception of “she and her group didn’t like Cloud at all” due to being only able to perceive the rather poor and inaccurate English translation. What Cloud says is "本当はみんなといっしょに遊びたいのにどうしても、仲間に入れてって言えなかった" (hontou haminnatoisshoni asobi tainoni. doushitemo, nakama ni ire tette ie nakatta). It translates to "I really wanted to play with everyone, but I couldn't tell you/I couldn't ask to be included." It's not that Tifa “and her group didn’t like Cloud at all,” and it’s not that they didn’t let him in the group, it's that he himself wasn't able to tell them he wanted to play with them as he has always been socially awkward. FF7 OG is notorious for mistranslations, and I have to say that the Remake has its fair share of bad translations as well, with localization often sacrificing intent of the source dialogue too much, leading to somewhat inaccurate perceptions, especially for those who can only understand English unfortunately. I also don’t know where you get that she was “kinda scared of him,” she never says anything like that and the Ultimanias don’t state anything like that. All she says is that him asking to see her was sudden and she was a bit surprised, not that she was scared of him. If she was scared of him, why would she dress and primp up like that to go see him at a location that’s described as having romantic connotations. Why would she go see him at all.

Zack has a soft spot for Aerith, so of course Cloud acted like Zack in a way till the very end with Aerith. Despite Aerith liking Cloud, Aerith likes the "mixed Cloud" (Zack+Cloud). In exchange of living in Zack's memories, Cloud's real memories of his true self is suppresed badly that Tifa lost her significance in Cloud's personal life. No one can argue this; Tifa knows the "real Cloud". That's why Cloud embraced Tifa so tightly, because his true self is in there somewhere. I don't mind for Cloud to be with Aerith. I know then that the real Cloud has die inside, replaced by Zack's memories. I bet Cloud will have constant nightmares and flashback of how he failed to keep his promise with Tifa, sending him deep into depression while with Aerith.

No doubt! She kept her secrets too much about she and Cloud in her deep down. Can't wait to see how Square Enix shows it to us on this version with high-tech. (the lifestream of Cloud - the one which is very important part in this FF7, follow with Under The Highwind's scene) After all, Cloud always had feelings for Tifa and they were longtime childhood friends together. The local boys always followed Tifa around everywhere but Tifa always liked Cloud. When he was leaving he boldly stated to her he was going to join SOLDIER. He did this as a way to make her notice him more. Cloud was trying to impress Tifa, his childhood love. She then made him promise to be her Hero. To come to her rescue if she was ever in trouble. But ... Tifa never want it from Cloud, she was very disappointed after heard Cloud will leave Nibelheim, cause Tifa don't need Cloud to prove anything about himself to her, Tifa already like Cloud after they felt in Mt. Nibel. Otherwise, Cloud could be very surprised by the way Tifa make a promise between them. He just unexpected that thing from Tifa. The only thing he was fear that Tifa will not come to meet him at the water-tower. That's why the story of FF7 was perfect with the sociological-psychology of the humans in this game is very deep material . This couple is a real canon for whatever.

Actually in the original FF7 game they weren't exactly close as children as even though they were neighbors he never was included in her circle of friends and felt left out. He never even went inside her house, and if so only once but she doesn't remember as she was stricken with grief over the loss of her mother. However, people seem to think that just because she wasn't that close to him as a child that somehow disqualifies her from being a good match for him, as if you must be in love with your childhood friend all your life in order for you to be soulmates, which is just ridiculous. She gave him a sense of purpose and something to strive for, even if she had her own life back then. What I didn't like from what I saw in the remake was the flashback of when they were children with her calling out for attention from him, making her sound needy and essentially making it look like she was in love with him as a child as well, which just isn't true to the original story. Maybe they'll disprove that vision later, which would actually be amazing as it would add to Cloud's disillusionment and discovery of his true self, but I sadly doubt they'll do that with what I've seen from the female characters in this remake regarding Cloud. She's independent but kind, caring and attentive, and is an incredibly important person to Cloud, as I would say the same that Aerith is an incredibly important person to Cloud as well. While I think both Tifa and Aerith are great romantic interests to Cloud, I do lean more toward Tifa myself.

Is not that could have happened in this Remake is true? , that at that time Tifa really called him, and because Cloud is indeed shy and makes excuses that what they do is very childish. In this Remake SE expands the story, even a little flashback from their childhood even while in Midgar. As I recall, Cloud and Tifa's childhood memories were only during the Lifestream scene. I guess that's what happened, Tifa did call Cloud during the Cloud Flashback I mean, how is Tifa's cheerful, friendly and caring attitude towards others, being able to stay quiet with a neighbor who is the same age as her side of her house without trying to talk or trying to get Cloud to play ?? She must have repeatedly called and invite him to play with her, It could be in the wrong OG and Remake is trying to fix it

​@@Soldier3rd In the lifestream in the original game, little Cloud tells Tifa, "Tifa always used to have her own group" and "I really wanted to play with everyone, but you never let me in the group." When saying that he thought her friends were stupid, she was surprised, because she didn't know he thought that. He admitted it was because he was insecure and the stupid one because he stayed distant thinking he was better than them but still wanted to be admitted into the group. You can even KZbin the videos of the lifestream sequence to check. That is why in the remake I was annoyed by her acting like she was already asking for his attention when she wasn't, because that is really just their wishful thinking displayed in full in this remake, and all the females in the remake are fawning over Cloud like more wishful thinking, because while Jessie did have a crush on him in the original, it was by far more subtle than the Jessie in the remake. Just because Tifa admits she didn't know him that well as a child, doesn't mean that love can't grow afterward, as they already had a common ground to start from. She actually may have only started to really notice him after he left to become a soldier, but I still don't think that makes her any less of a great partner for him because you don't have to be in love with a childhood friend from the start in order to fall in love later.

I never did ship Cloud & Tifa romantically in the original game way back, but seeing how they are now in this remake I am definitely shipping them that way this time.

Always supported Cloud and Tifa together as I support (and still do) Zack with Aerith. I was grateful in VIIR Aerith actually SAYS that "he was the first one I ever loved" I was like FINALLY! Don't get me wrong, I fell in love with this game back in Dec of 1997. It's just been a very long haul watching the hate for Tifa (and for Aerith too) build over the decades. I was hoping once this was finally released it wouldn't be so bad? Granted, I haven't seen bad yet (not like I have 20 years ago) but I'm sure I'm keeping a safe distance from it too. I just hope that with further installments of VIIR that we really get to see Zack and Aerith's love flushed out more. I feel strange even thinking that Aerith is truly head over heels in love with Cloud when (and this is me going back to OG) it was clear the infatuation with him stems from how much he reminded her of Zack. Idk, it's a lot different this time around in many aspects. I just hope they continue to flesh the characters out more. I have to say that I do love Aerith's character in VIIR a hellovah lot more than I ever did in OG. So IDK, we'll see where it goes

I couldn't agree more. But in my opinion, She stop deluding herself into thinking that Zack's coming back and slowly accept that he is gone. And i feel bad for her, she deserves to move on from zack. Because she is indenial for so long, that she accept the fact that Zack runs off with another girl than him being dead so it will less painful for her. And She stops recapturing their moment thru cloud. And loves him for cloud that she stated that "i want to meet you, the real you". BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN SHE NEVER LOVED ZACK, IT JUST THAT SHE WILL ALWAYS TREAUSE THEIR MOMENTS AND THEIR MEMORIES TOGETHER ALONG THE WAY AND AT THE SAME TIME, THE PROCESS OF HER MOVING ON AND HEALING! LIKE THE TOXIC!CLERITH SAID (according to maiden who travels the planet which is not canon to ffvii compilations). BECAUSE AERITH IS NOT A BITCH AND SHE IS NOT SELFISH!! i don't get it why they do that to someone that they claimed to love (whether its fictional character or real person) AND YET, they demonize their character... To those who don't know Cloud.. Spoilers ahead.. Cloud’s mental illness Psychology has always been something that intrigued me. To me, I can relate to Cloud’s depressive episode. So here’s a list if anyone is interested about what Cloud is going through post-ff7. Here’s an idea so people can understand the weight of what mental illness does to people and relationships. (Trigger warning) Post Traumatic Stress: Symptoms Intrusive memories Recurrent, unwanted distressing memories of the traumatic event Reliving the traumatic event as if it were happening again (flashbacks) Upsetting dreams about the traumatic event Severe emotional distress or physical reactions to something that reminds you of the event Negative changes in thinking and mood Symptoms Negative feelings about yourself or other people Inability to experience positive emotions Feeling emotionally numb Lack of interest in activities you once enjoyed Hopelessness about the future Memory problems, including not remembering important aspects of the traumatic event Difficulty maintaining close relationships Examples: “Tifa, I’m not fit to help anyone…not my family, not my friends…no one.”-Cloud to Tifa in ACC. …. “See? I knew I’d be no help.” - Cloud to Vincent in ACC. …. Cloud’s relationship with Marlene, Denzel and Tifa also suffers “Forget it Cloud! Why don’t you ever think about us?!” Marlene to Cloud in ACC. …. “I guess I was the last straw…” Denzel while looking at the family photo. …. “It can’t be done!” Marlene shouted. All the adults were surprised and looked at Marlene. “You’ve told us that story before and Cloud just gives the same answer!” It didn’t go well. But we were together. It was because we were family. We lived in the same house and we were living by uniting our strength. Maybe there wasn’t much conversation or many smiles, but we were family, Tifa thought to herself. No, it was what she made herself think. -After Cloud’s strange behavior starts. Changes in emotional reactions Symptoms Irritability, angry outbursts or aggressive behavior Always being on guard for danger Overwhelming guilt or shame Self-destructive behavior, such as drinking too much or driving too fast Trouble concentrating Trouble sleeping Being easily startled or frightened Examples: It was night, and they had closed the bar. Cloud was drinking alcohol even though he rarely did. He drained his glass. Tifa thought about it before going over and filling his glass. “Shall I join you?” There was something she wanted to talk to him about. “I want to drink alone.” Intensity of symptoms PTSD symptoms can vary in intensity over time. You may have more PTSD symptoms when you’re stressed in general, or when you run into reminders of what you went through. For example, you may hear a car backfire and relive combat experiences. Or you may see a report on the news about a sexual assault and feel overcome by memories of your own assault. Examples: Client Name - Elmyra Gainsborough Delivery Item - Bouquet Destination - The Forgotten City Tifa put the slip away with the others as if nothing happened, but she was trembling severely. Transporting mail around the world meant he was traveling around his past too. She knew that Cloud was in great pain because he couldn’t protect Aerith. Cloud was trying to overcome that and live on. But, going back to the place where he parted from Aerith might mean that his sorrow and regret was going to tear his heart again. The above is also what is known as a grief trigger. A grief trigger is when you see, hear, smell, or come into contact with something that reminds you of the traumatic event. When this happens you can spiral into grief and depression. You can be doing fine for months or even a year before you encounter this trigger. For Cloud, his trigger was seeing Elmyra and going to Aerith’s grave. Depression Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. A bleak outlook-nothing will ever get better and there’s nothing you can do to improve your situation. Loss of interest in daily activities. No interest in former hobbies, pastimes, social activities, or sex. You’ve lost your ability to feel joy and pleasure. Self-loathing. Strong feelings of worthlessness or guilt. You harshly criticize yourself for perceived faults and mistakes. Pretty self explanatory this is how Cloud acts in ACC. He thinks he can’t do anything, he’s just willing to give up and die and let Geostigma take him. Cloud is also cherophobic. Cherophobic: A person who is afraid of being happy. Mostly, cherophobic people doesn’t want to be happy because they feel like something bad or tragic will happen sooner after they become happy. Examples AC Prologue:“Nojima: Cloud never had a candid personality to begin with, and although he started living with Tifa and even started working, he obtained a peaceful living he’s never experienced before, and this conversely made him anxious. And in the midst of this he contracts Geostigma himself,and rather than being able to protect the people dear to him, he instead was forced to face his own death, and so ran away.” …. Nomura: Even though he found peace, Cloud has lost a lot of people dear to him up until this point. Not only that, but looking at Cloud’s history, this is the first time he’s experienced a ‘peaceful’ environment in the true sense of the word. Cloud is a character who will always keep thinking, regardless of what’s going on around him. …. “- So, why has Cloud separated himself from his friends? Nomura: Cloud is scared that the peace he has now might shatter, so he is living on his own. - Why? Nomura: In the past he meet Zack, his best friend, and Aerith, someone who was important to him, but he lost them, so wonders if his present peace will also shatter one day... Since something might happen while he’s around, he left everyone behind and is doing delivery work on his own. …. The happier he is now, The more Cloud is tormented by painful “memories” of the past. FFVII 10th Anniversary Ultimania Cloud Strife Profile The more he realizes how happy he is living with Tifa and the children, the more the fear of losing that and regrets toward the past trouble Cloud… FFVII 10th Anniversary Ultimania Cloud Strife …. Nomura in Distance: “The happier Cloud is, the more lonely he becomes.” …. Cloud was suffering from MENTAL ILLNESS. He had PTSD, and what do you know? One of the symptoms is being unable to maintain close relationships. This doesn’t mean two people are incompatible or dysfunctional if one of them has PTSD. It’s hard on EVERYONE. Cloud’s relationship with Tifa wasn’t even the first one to change. It was Marlene who noticed Cloud had changed. Cloud’s relationship with everyone suffered. He shut off everyone, including Tifa. Tifa, who from 2 years ago has been the only one Cloud opened his heart to.Now he has closed off his heart even from her. ~AC Prologue Book Tifa is the only one he opened up too, and now he’s even closed her off. Do not undermine mental illness because it can’t be cured with romantic love. Being in love with someone does not put a special safeguard around you from ever being emotionally traumatised. I think that this is the true reason why many people are still stuck on them, plus the overall indication that Tifa has known Cloud for a lifetime and has been with him through everything, having them compliment each other in a very fitting way.

Shipping wars will never end but Cloti is winning part 1. I know Clerith had their moments but Aerith is showing more of pushing Cloti than actually in love with Cloud. The Flower Pushing Cloud to rescue Tifa from The Don even tho Tifa told Cloud she can handle things on her own Telling Tifa to follow her heart leading to Cloud I mean its all right there. Furthermore, you have one of the last scenes where Cloud is saved by Tifa and the camera focused in on him grabbing her arm hard....there was no need for that as he was firmly in position but SE did that for a reason. A sign of their friendly bond deepen into something much more....just think if that was Aerith and all the Cleriths would be thinking marriage plans. And for those who say oh they are just friends than damn just look at the train jump and the way they eye each after....or the way Cloud looks at her after Tifa wakes from the Plate collapsing or the esy he looked mad when Barrett mentioned someone else getting flowers for Tifa. If she was just a friend to her than why would it bother him? She's more to him than he will openly admit atm In closing I could post more examples but really the 2 that stand out showing they are headed for romantic intentions are the Flower as Aerith put it "Given to Lovers when they are reunited." The answer to the infamous love triangle (With textual evidence) In FFVII there is a love triangle that has caused 20 years of ugly ship wars between Cloud x Tifa (Cloti) shippers and Cloud x Aerith (Clerith) shippers. Who is Cloud Strife in love with? Answer: Tifa Lockhart. Let’s jump in and examine this, shall we? ***Side note: I will not be bringing up Aerith’s relationship with Zack as this is about Cloud’s feelings and who he is in love with. I will also not be examining every shred of evidence or interaction Cloud has with either girl as that would make this much too long*** 1. What is a love triangle? A love triangle is usually a romantic relationship involving three people. While it can refer to two people independently romantically linked with a third, it usually implies that each of the three people has some kind of relationship to the other two. This is true for FFVII, as the creators have confirmed the love triangle exists and is not something created by fandom. And having 2 heroines, Aerith and Tifa, and having the hero waver between them, at the time that was something new. ~Kitase, FFVII 10th Anniversary Ultimania pg. 11 In Aerith’s description in the booklet that accompanies FFVII, the love triangle existing is also reinforced. Her unusual abilities enable her to use magic, but she seems more interested in the deepening love triangle between herself, Cloud and Tifa. We are told in the same book that both Tifa and Aerith have feelings for Cloud. I made a diagram. Both girls have feelings for Cloud but who does he have feelings for? Kitase’s words say that the hero, Cloud, wavers between the two. This indicates that Cloud may have feelings for both of them. Cloud may be romantically attracted to both women. Before drawing this conclusion we must first remove personal preference and also remove player bias. In the game it is possible to lower both Aerith and Tifa’s affection so low that Barret is the date. This would mean Cloud goes on a date with Barret, and the Low Affection of the night under the Highwind is shown. Since both the date at Gold Saucer and the night under the Highwind are variable based on player actions and biased, it is important that we remove this bias and focus solely on the facts presented to us in ultimanias. A canon version of the story does exist where we are told “These events happened even if you, the player, did not play accordingly.” Let’s start with basics, Tifa and Aerith both have feelings for Cloud, but he is unaware. Both Aerith, who is forthright, and Tifa, who is demure, have feelings for Cloud but he is none the wiser to them.~pg. 37(pg. 39 in revised edition) of the FFVII 10th Anniversary Ultimania This is interesting as it shows that during the date it had not sunk in that Aerith and Tifa are romantically interested in Cloud, despite being on a date, and in Aerith’s case offering a date as payment and even asking what her compatibility with Cloud is while he is present. Cloud being unaware of either girls feelings is significant as it shows he was completely clueless when Aerith blatantly flirted with him. Keeping this knowledge in mind: Cloud doesn’t know either girl likes him. 2. The Date Let’s talk about which date is the canon date before talking about the contents of either date with the heroines. Despite the entry for Aerith’s date on the “For The One I Love” page in the 20th Anniversary Ultimania stating the date is under player control, and with a deviation on page 225-it is obvious that Aerith’s date is the canon one. The date with Aerith makes the most sense narrative-wise. Aerith is the one who promises the date, Aerith is the one who reminds Cloud of the date, Aerith is the default choice if Tifa and Aerith have the exact same affection rating. This may not be good enough for some people as “default does not = canon” but there are sources that show Aerith’s date as canon. First let’s examine the For The One I Love page: ***Many ignore the entry for FFVII here and instead use the opening paragraph of the FTOIL page; but since it is a broad statement that explains what is on the page and it has already been proven the love triangle does exist with the hero wavering between 2 heroines, I feel no need to analyze it as it offers no insight to the answer of the LTD.*** At the Gold Saucer, Cloud receives an invitation from one of his companions. Who comes around with the invitation is dependent on Cloud’s behavior. ~ pg. 394 of the FF 20th Anniversary Ultimania File 2: Scenario And on pg. 225 there is a deviation that talks about the other dates possible, and the content of them. Deviation Who is the date companion? Cloud’s companion for the date is determined by your choices in the progress of the story. Whichever character amongst Tifa, Aerith, Yuffie and Barret has the highest value in the “affection rating” will be the one to invite Cloud out for the date; here are screenshots representing each. The course of each date is the same, but, as you can see, they each develop in their own way depending on the companion. [Screenshot caption of Tifa’s date] Tifa tries to reveal her feelings to Cloud, but can’t say it in the end. [Screenshot caption of Yuffie’s date] Yuffie quietly moves over to Cloud and boldly kisses him on the cheek. [Screenshot caption of Barret’s date] Barret arrives on his own at the idea that Cloud has his eye on Marlene. But in the main body of the story summary, Aerith’s date is present. The canon date is Aerith’s, pg. 225 merely serves as extra information, detailing the contents of the other dates. All this page is telling us is that there are multiple dates, but only one of them is the canon outcome. “But if Aerith’s date is the canon one, why does it say on the For The One I Love page that it’s up to the player? Why doesn’t it say the Highwind scene is variable on the same page?” I honestly don’t know why. I also don’t know why Aerith, Tifa, Yuffie, and Barret’s date are all included in their profiles as if all of the dates happened within the story narrative. Many have asked this question to write off the canon status of Aerith’s date. If we look at some other sources it sheds more light on the subject. The Promised Date at the Gold Saucer The “1 date” reward promised when she enlisted Cloud as her bodyguard. She invites him on the date during the night spent at the Gold Saucer; participating in a play and riding the gondola, they have a pleasant time, though it is brief.~ FF 25th Memorial Ultimania Vol. 2, Aerith’s profile pg. 29 Let it be known that Aerith is the one who promised the date, not Cloud, as I have seen many say Cloud promised to date Aerith. In actuality, Aerith promised a date as payment. On Aerith’s Final Fantasy Art Museum trading card collection, the line she says during her date with Cloud is present, along with parentheses detailing when this line was said.  「ね、クラウド。私、あなたを捜してる」 （最初で最後のデートでクラウドへの想いを語る） “No, Cloud… I’m searching for you…” ( Said to Cloud during their first and last date) In the same collection there is also the card “Sanctuary of Amusement card” #111 that states the date that takes place was “promised” The Gold Saucer, the world’s largest amusement park, run by its macho director, Dio. Cloud’s group visited this place many times between fights. The encounter with Cait Sith. Chocobo Square, where so many close races unfolded. And Enchantment Night, when the promise of a date was fulfilled … In the palace of desire that floats on the sand, the faint memories of two people are still held … Aerith is the only character out of the 4 who promised a date to Cloud. Aerith’s date is the canon one. If we look at Kaitai Shinsho (Dismantled) there is a diary entry that confirms Aerith’s date is the canon one. Oh, Cloud … I enjoyed our date at the Gold Saucer. The view from the gondola that night was really beautiful. I’ll never forget it.~Kaitai Shinsho pg. 164 Now that we have established that Aerith’s date is the canon one, let’s look at what we are told about the content of Aerith’s date. We’ll revisit the above quote featuring the date about how Aerith is forthright about her feelings, yet Cloud remains oblivious to them. During the date, Aerith voices her feelings for Cloud. ~ FF 20th Anniversary Ultimania File 2: Scenario pg. 225 Aerith reveals her feelings to Cloud during the date and he remains oblivious to it. At the end of the date, Aerith seems to be unsure of how Cloud feels about her. During the story, Cloud canonly goes on a date with Aerith. During this date, no mutual feelings were shared. Aerith voiced her feelings to Cloud, who remained oblivious. The realization of each other’s feelings are absent. But just because Cloud is unaware of Aerith’s feelings does not mean he does not feel the same way about her. The date which is frequently used as proof of Cloud and Aerith’s love, comes up short in actually proving Cloud returns Aerith’s feelings, and lacks any moment of realization or confirmation of feelings. 3. Under The Highwind Just like the dates, the Highwind scene is also variable, but as opposed to have 4 different outcomes the Highwind only has 2. And, just like the date, it appears on the For The One I Love page. It also has a corresponding page number that shows there is more than one scene. While playing the game, it is easy to get Aerith’s date and the high affection version of the Highwind scene with Tifa. Just like above I will be addressing canon before speaking about the contents of the scene. On the For The One I Love page this is the entry:

VII - The night before the final battle Thanks to Tifa, Cloud regains himself, and before the final battle with Sephiroth, he confirms with her feelings that can’t be expressed in words. ~pg. 394 FF 20th Anniversary Ultimania File 2: Scenario Unlike the date, this entry does not say things are up to the player. It tells us what happens during that night. But, a deviation exists which is proved that since more than one scene exists, this scene can’t be canon. Let’s treat this the same way we did the date. We turn to the corresponding page, and just like the date, the canon outcome is shown in the main story summary (story playback.) And when Cloud and Tifa remain behind alone, in their final hours, they reveal their feelings for each other together. ~pg. 232 FF 20th Anniversary Ultimania File 2: Scenerio And just like pg. 225, there is a deviation that cites the differences between the scenes. Deviation There are 2 versions of the conversation before the final battle. The conversation between Cloud and Tifa before the final battle will differ depending on Tifa’s degree of affection. If her affection value is high, the content of their conversation will be deep, showing that they strongly care for each other. Also, in the scene where Tifa is embarrassed to discover the next morning that the team were watching her and Cloud, her reaction when her affection is high is greater. In other ultimanias, the difference between the scenes are also talked about. If Tifa’s affection regarding Cloud is high, when the two stay behind at the airship, they will confirm their feelings of desire for one another together. This line is said by Tifa at the conversation’s end. Immediately after saying it, Tifa forms a striking smile that summarizes everything. ~pg. 27 of the FFVII Ultimania Omega, in Tifa’s profile The only version in which Cloud and Tifa confirm their feelings for each other, happens in the high affection version. In the story playback, just like Aerith’s date was shown canon, the high affection scene is proven canon as well. Using the same sources that prove Aerith’s date canon have also proven the high affection scene with Tifa canon. On Tifa’s Final Fantasy Art Museum trading card collection, the line she says during the high affection scene is shown, with parentheses detailing when it was said. 「 想いを伝えられるのは言葉だけじゃないよ……」 (決戦前夜、クラウドと2人きりで) “Words aren’t the only thing that tell people what you’re thinking” ( Night before the final battle, when she and Cloud are alone.) And the 25th Anniversary Ultimania that proves Aerith’s date canon, it also proves the high affection scene canon. For many years, Cloud and Tifa have been holding favor for one another. Honestly, I try to respect all ships in general. But tbh I really find Aerith irritating, her personality just kinda bothers me I'm not sure how to explain it. Regardless I think Tifa and Cloud make a better couple, Tifa respects his boundaries more than Aerith does and on top of that Tifa's known Cloud longer. The way I see it, Aerith is a little too pushy about things. Of course some may argue that Aerith was just trying to push Tifa and Cloud together a little more.. Idk. Personally I dislike when people meddle with other relationships, even if they're trying to move things along in a positive way. It just makes things feel unnatural. Anyways, I find Tifa and Cloud's relationship so endearing, it really brings a warmth to my heart. It's quite obvious Cloud cares for Tifa and vice versa. Yep that's the complexity of Cloud and Tifa Relationship, and that makes it even more interesting, For AC, it was Tifa who made Cloud don't give up and with the help of Aerith and Zack were finally happy, , and in AC Cloud away not because Tifa could not comfort him or make him comfortable, it was because he deliberately moved away so Tifa was no more injured because of his death. Because their relationship was better and happier clearly seen in the novel "Case Of Tifa" at the beginning of the story until Cloud was hit by Geostigma, and why Cloud didn't talk to Tifa after being hit by Geostigma because he knew he couldn't lying especially Tifa, so he kept away himself from Tifa and his family, but even so he also really could not stay away and not related to Tifa. Because it was proven he still kept every voice message from Tifa, because clearly he could not get away from her and maybe miss her. And for this Remake it is clear that Tifa has not seen an important role for Cloud, in this Remake it is more like character development for the Cloud itself. Maybe in Part 2 Remake later we can see the important role of Tifa, while Aerith plays an important role in all GAIA lives, Tifa plays an important role in the Cloud

The video and the title downplay the love triangle the game has, by just saying it's ONLY her that understands cloud, while throughout the most of the game Aerith was there for most times cloud had his "headaches" and understood something was off, while Tifa "hey, you ok?", Aerith did the same and even held his hand and told him things will be ok and more than just that. They actually flirted quite a lot (something he doesn't really do with Tifa) So I think it's clear it sets up a triangle to let people choose who they prefer (when there's a scene in the remake where Cloud actually confesses himself to Aerith). It's fine to ship characters if that's what you're into, and I see that the majority of people think it's "obvious" Cloud loves Tifa, but I'd argue that he is conflicted when it comes to love (since he has lost Zack, his mom and his home) he probably isn't ready just yet to say he loves anyone. And if we're able to give our opinion on who he (Cloud) loves I'd say it's Aerith in the OG timeline, and yeah she's gone after but the memory of letting her down and the regret he gets is for having let her down plagues him and the people he cares about (Tifa included), and even in AC it's maybe implied that tifa had try to get through to cloud romantically but he became distant perhaps because of his memory of Aerith. And the excuse of his memories being Zack's memories doesn't make sense, because Cloud meets her and he doesn't know her or have any feelings for her immediately, but after awhile these feelings develop into their own thing, and the only thing Cloud has of Zack is the sword, clothes and some of his memory not including anything about Aerith. And after a couple of years a person moves on so saying she still loves Zack doesn't make sense either since she can feel people dying. After she was gone in the original game, Cloud began seeing her in his mind and she gave him comfort and peace when everything was tough. I'm not here to annoy anyone (that ships Tifa or whatever) this is just how I see things and it's hard to deny the love triangle, but I just thought I'd give my opinion even though it doesn't matter.

But I also think that Aerith loves Cloud, and when she says that he can't love her, she just says that as to not hurt him but he doesn't back down. How did Cloud confess to Aerith? All he asked was for some agency in that decision. Besides, people always quote just the "You can't fall in love with me" part and not the "Even IF you think you have, it's not real" which touches on Cloud's core character secret (that's not all him at the moment). It isn't crazy to think Cloud would like to have a say in something so personal, especially after (at this point) only knowing Aerith for a day. Can something develop in the future? Sure, but looking at how little more they showed after their resolution scene, it will be inreresting to see how the developers portray them in part 2.

I’m really tired of correcting people but here we go again tifa never ignored cloud in the og it’s actually mistranslation(not the only mistranslation too) he was the one who excluded himself when he actually wanted to join them also if you played the remake you will see how tifa called for him but he was the one ignoring her and she said “Are you ignoring me again?” And that’s another difference from the eng localization. I’ve never played the original game, so that’s probably why I don’t have a bias like most people and are blinded by it…….but Cloud only showed an interest in Aerith literally the entire game…. How people think Cloud and Tifa are romantic together is beyond me. Other than him holding up the drink and saying “beautiful”. There was literally no other circumstance where they showed any affection towards each other. They strike me more as a brother/sister relationship than a romantic one.

Cloud and Tifa brother and Sister? Pffft. Did you know that Cloud expected to have sex with her or at least a makeout session (officially confirmed)? It was "Alone at last" - scene. Just here for the comments and wow what? People really cant accept the fact that a guy and a girl can just be very good friends and not have any romantic relationship. Tifa is only there for Cloud as a friend especially since even though Cloud has a very hard shell he doesnt like to be alone and who tf would he open up to then? The Avalanche members he met at the start of the game or Tifa? Who he has known for a long time even if they werent great friends back then. And yeah there is the promise but I really find it hard to believe that Cloud wouldnt try his hardest to save anyone in the party including Tifa. Aerirh on the other hand is the one that melts his hard exterior which is brought up with the remake. There really isnt anyone with who Cloud opens up more than with Aerith. And yeah he opens himself a bit to Tifa too as she does to him but not nearly as much and honestly thats just what friends do. The resolution scenes as well are so obvious. Mind the fact that Cloud's resolution is with Aerith and with her he actually feels hurt for her saying to not fall for her and actually asks her if he had a say in it because he already is while with bith Tifa and Barret he doesnt talk that much but provides comfort for both of them. Also Aerith's death is the one that scars him deeply and even though in the end Tifa is still there he just cant move on from Aerith and just keeps going in pain and suffering I'm sorry Cloti lovers but Clerith is just so obviously canon from everything we know and its hard to ignore it. I love Tifa but you cant deny it. Like come on the theme song of the remake is Cloud talking about Aerith

He never really even comforted her when she was in distress compared to Tifa. AC in a nutshell was about Cloud being guilty that he couldn't SAVE Aerith AND ZACK.(He would have been guilty if he failed to SAVE Tifa from Sephiroth too, so what's your actual point?), him letting go of his past (Sephiroth), searching for an absolution and be forgiven so he can happily live with Tifa. Since he thought that he didn't deserve it. He was away like a week because of geostigma too. He didn't want the rest if HIS family to get infected and see him suffer. Have you seriously even read the description to AC? In the end Cloud was forgiven on every way and continued to live happily with Tifa (and the kids) he even told her to close the shop/bar so he can spend time with her and their family. Just get over it and go to your own Clerith videos to share your delusional theories with other Cleriths. Tifa and Cloud the true canon who ended up happily together like they deserve. It shouldn't hurt anyone. Plus Tifa is the only one of those 2 who has seen and KNOWS the REAL Cloud (since childhood) and because of that she also understands him. Aerith never saw the real Cloud. Aerith's mission/role basically in VII was to SAVE the planet, Tifa's mission was save Cloud and find the real Cloud (which she did because she was the ONLY one who could do it) and put him back together, stay by his side til the end of time. That's why she was even created. To be Cloud's true woman, true love.
