This is one of my favorite childhood games (actually saved change from my lunch money every day for a month to buy it, and it’s the first game I ever bought myself 😆) and one of my favorite comfy runs to watch. Also to Platypus, hope you’re having a better week, fam. Congrats on making it through.

I always loved taking Yunie through Auron's and Wakka's grids for the hollow little sound effect alone of her little rods ing literally everything, because swole Yuna is best Yuna. I may have HA HA HA HA HA'd here at home.

In my first playthrough of the game my Yuna became disgustingly overpowered by accident because I kept using aeons for everything and she was the only person getting xp half the time, by the end of the game she had like 3/4 of the sphere grid filled and I was killing everything just hitting them with her melee attack 😭

RE: overkill The amount needed is weird. Some enemies have it weirdly low(like the Tonnberry has 13,500 HP, but only needs 4,000 damage to overkill) and others weirdly high(chests have 1 HP, but need 99,999 damage to overkill). There's a handful of enemies you just can't overkill(like the sinspawn ammes at the start of the game; the crane which you can't inflict damage on; or Yu Pagoda who's overkill value is higher than the break damage limit cap for some reason).

This was a good run, and I'm glad runners have the choice to not sit through hours of cutscenes anymore, but I'd be lying if I said this mod didn't kill the magic of ffx speedruns for me (at least in a marathon setting)

Fun trivia, if you could one shot the Flan as Tidus, you skip the Lulu tutorial. Does it save time? Technically if you could do it without the massive grind, but realistically no.

Everyone who doesn't agree is a coward?

FFX is one of my favorite childhood jrpgs but even I can admit the combat system is just decent. A lot of it is picking the correct character for the correct enemy type. Square peg goes in square hole. Bosses are more interesting but that's generally how most random encounters go. I don't think it makes me a coward to admit that other rpgs have more engaging combat.

Btw, the canonical pronunciation is "Tee-dus", and the only reason I know this is in Destiny Island from Kingdom Hearts 1; kid Wakka says the name if you talk to him enough.

Yeah, Squeenix also said that Cait Sith is pronounced just as is and that isn't correct. They took Cait Sith (Ket She) from Gaelic and Irish folklore and I don't care what they "confirmed". It's wrong. They gave us an Irish cat that speaks in a Scottish accent that pronounces his own name wrong. BTW, they pronounce it Ket She in FF XIV.... Also Japanese is Ketto She. Tidus being called teedus in KH holds no water with me. Speaking of water "tidal" is not pronounced as teedal.

See I always though he was Tidus (Tie-dus) cos the main chars in the Sony FF games had a theme, you know Cloud, Squall, Tidus. Then there's Zidane to ruin the whole show 😕 but that's what I always thought anyway.
@RyanJohnson093 ай бұрын
@@apostolicpaladin It makes more sense for English speakers to go with Tide-us as it very much fits with the water theme but in Japanese Tida means the sun so for a Japanese audience saying it Tee-dus makes more sense. Tidus being the sun, he has the sun crest and sigil to power up his ultimate weapon, his light hair, his clothes and Yuna being his opposite with Luna in Japanese meaning the moon and Yuna has the moon crest and sigil for powering her ultimate weapon and the flower on her dress is the hibiscus which usually blooms at night so it's a nice parallel and I guess makes sense overall why a lot of people say either Tide-us or Tee-dus depending. While I'm not fussed as whatever people prefer, hopefully this sheds some light on it a little 🙂

For the love of god how do people think is teeeeeedus? There’s a book of the Bible with almost the same name Titus, and it’s pronounced Tie tus just like how tidus should be Tide us…

Funny story, it's only pronounced Tie tus in English. Every single other language in the world who uses the name calls him Tee tus.

From a purely linguistic standpoint, in many languages (including Japanese) the letter i is pronounced as "ee", with English being the exception in this case due to long vowel rules. So whether you say Tee-dus or Tie-dus depends on which language rules you are adhering to: The original Japanese, or how you would read it in English.
@wristcontr0l3 ай бұрын
1. Because that's the natural way of pronouncing that word in English, and 2. Because the katakana makes it explicit.
@davewebster51203 ай бұрын
Why do they call the MC "teedus"? There's clearly an I and not an E in his name. Tye-dus. Like Tide. Learn how to read.

It's the pronunciation they use in World of FF, in addition to being (as others have said) different vowel sounds in different languages. I was team Tye-dus for a long time, but I've had to accept the reality of Teedus.
