Hey dansg08 I know these videos are couple of years old and I don't know if you still check the comments on them but I was wondering if you ever got Yojimbo to do Zanmato by himself? It happened to me yesterday. I'm going through playing Final Fantasy 10 again and I just got Yoji. I pulled him out to fight Belgemine's Bahamut in Remieum and I paid him 10 Gil and he did Diagoro. Then I paid him 100 gil and without a full overdrive guage he did Zanmato...thats never happened to me before. Then against her Anima I paid him 100 gil, he did Wazishaki(sp), and immediately after did Zanmato again without being paid. Just curious if this ever happened to you. By the way I love the walkthrough, man. You taught me a lot that I didnt know and Ive been play FFX since it came out.

Yep, he can use Zanmato at will (he won't do it against enemies with a very high Zanmato level). Against lower level fiends if you have high compatibility you can get free Zanmatos sometimes.

Quick question (Jumping ahead a bit), would you bother maxing the Magic stat? I don't really see a need, plus I don't really want to have to grind Jumbo Flan as it takes a little bit. Thank you :)

No need, healing is done via items/trio of 9999/Auto Regen if you have 99999 HP. You won't be using Magic to damage the Dark Aeons anyway unless you for some reason have a rule that you can't use physical attacks :P My final magic stat will be whatever is available from the sphere grid, I think I ended up with around 160.

I only saw this series now... but i enjoyed it and played it aswell (PS2 Emulator, the old version, to speed some things up, around 3 times normal speed,. But you said something about the wellknown tombery trick. I don't really understand why every guide refers to this, but there are only a few guides who talk about the "Cactuar King Trick". I figuered this out for myself in my first playthrough many years ago, so maybe i am a bit biased, but i can't figure out why the Tombery Method should be better (and since nearly every guide mentions it, it probably is). With Tombery I can do something around 4 attacks, let it be 8, if you are extremely fast... but thats only 800k of damage. And you have to attack with one character and wait (if you have auto phoenix) with the others. Then you have to start all over again, pay again and so on.... And you have to have enough kills before, to get 99k damage from him.... at the moment i only get ~50k. With cactuar king you only put every character on the Overdrive mode, where it builds if another character is hit, put on a auto phoenix armor and sit there, pressing triangle until cactuar king flees. that gives you much more AP. Sure there are some 10k attacks in between, but since you only press triangle, you can easily do other things meanwhile. So, can you (or someone else) explain, why all the guides only explain the tombery method? what is better?

Peacem4ker because you arent supposed to kill the tonberry. Customize overdrive->AP onto your weapons and set your overdrive modes to the one where you get overdrive from taking damage. Make sure your characters have auto phoenix. Keep attacking until gets close or whenever you want to stop. And then run away. Youll get AP even if you run. The Tonberry is stronger than the cactaur

I understand how it works. But I don't see how Tombery ist stronger. Tombery has the advantage, that I can direct the attack to the right person, so all three get the AP, when he attacks. Cactuar King is more gambling, because he attacks random characters, so only two characters will gain with every attack. But Tombery is limited, until is is near (4 attacks I think, maybe more if you use haste), while I can be attacked from Cactuar King until he runs away. On average I gain 80-99 Levels per fight. With Tombery I find it hard, to get more than 60 levels .

auto-phoenix is totally cheating ahahahh man you are awesome but is not funny to play with that...i can understand auto-protect and auto haste but auto-phoenix on every character no ahah... you throw off so much strategy

Well some would argue that auto haste is broken too, it's all relative. If you love strategy so much then how about just playing without the sphere grid, or maybe even have no customization and no items? For some even this is difficult, for others even no sphere grid is a breeze, everyone's different. This is a platinum walkthrough designed to give people the smoothest run through the game, and for that auto phoenix is very useful. You won't find any guides out there that have ultimate armours (without break hp limit at least) that don't utilize auto-phoenix. In most cases not having auto phoenix just makes the battle slower, not necessarily harder, you just have to waste mp/turns doing it manually. Not really a huge spike in strategy by not having it in a playthrough like this one.

ok but in my opinion you need the sphere grid a little bit to go on in the game (i really don't kow how somebody can do without) what i'm trying to say is that every body can play with everything that they want, but auto-phoenix is definetively OP, i had it only on auron and was really difficult to beat the dark aeons... I understand that it is a guide, but I wanted from you the strategy because I know you're capable of it!!! of course is not a critic! I love the series and I really enjoy all you walkthrough

Well, that's the point, having auto phoenix IS the strategy here. If you purposely want to make it more difficult and less efficient, then that's a whole other kind of series, not what this is designed for :) If you want to see more strategy, check out my no sphere grid videos ;)
