A quick comparison of Final Fantasy 16 on the Sony Playstation 5 VS the PC port of the game. The PS5 footage was captured in graphics mode. The PC footage was captured on an RTX 3060 with all settings maxed out at 1440p with DLSS enabled.

Since uploading this I have made a new and improved FF16 graphics comparison. Link is in the description. Unfortunately I didn't have the settings on PC optimized correctly which resulted in the PC footage in this video coming out much more blurry than it should given the hardware it was played and recorded on (RTX 360). The new comparison fixes this issue with fully re-recorded footage for both PC, with the settings properly optimized, and the PS5 in "graphics" mode.

Lighting and color grading on PC looks much more natural. Skin actually looks like skin and isn't overly yellow like the PS5 version.

the ps5 version shows exactly why i can't stand newer games without reshade. the colors are all drowned out and it looks like the whole scene is covered in dust. idk how the devs think that shit looks good

Yeah, myself.Personally after noticing quite a bit of p c releases that it's just not worth it having to Constantly Adjust settings to make it look Like it does on the p s five which is crazy you have P c costing into the thousands versus A playstation five console More or less six hundred dollars or less, Just to have a horrible PC experience.I'm just gonna just stick with the Ps five on this one

use fsr and disable dynamic resolution for better better sharpening, ffxiv dawntrail have the same problem

Than you for the comment. You and someone else actually said this same thing so I went and gave it a try except I stuck with DLSS instead of FSR since I'm using an NVIDIA gpu. But setting it to quality and disabling dynamic resolution fixed the blurriness. It looks significantly better now and almost identical to the PS5.

@@indominus_B Even with a Nvidia GPU - i got an 4080 - use FSR it's far better than any other upscalling, DLSS is completly broken

*Best Graphics on PC with these or similar specs* - After uploading this I tweaked the settings based on a response someone left me about how to get rid of the blurriness. In most games on PC, default settings maxed out gives you the intended image from the devs. However, as I and many of you probably noticed, the PC version looks significantly more blurry considering the power of the computer specs in relation to the power of the PS5 - the hardware the game was built for. I was able to get the game looking almost identical to PS5 while targeting 30fps (like the PS5 graphics mode does) by turning on Super Resolution just like before. Choosing DLSS (FSR or XESS would work just as well depending on your hardware), choosing "Quality", and turning Dynamic Resolution off. I didn't discover this until after uploading this. If there is enough interest then I'll gladly upload a comparison with the settings adjusted appropriately. Until then, I figured I would at least pin this comment to let others know. Hope this helps.

I own the PS5 version and played the demo on my 3080 also. Noticed the same thing here that it almost seems too fuzzy on PC at times? Certain in-engine cutscenes and the fight with Murdoch particularly comes to mind. Why is it so much sharper on PS5? Kind of bothers me.

Yea I couldn't help but notice while working on this how much blurrier the PC version looked compared to the PS5. It's not like I had changed any settings either. Just maxed out at 1440p with DLSS enabled and all other Super Resolution settings left in their default state. However, someone else commented here on the video and suggested a way to tweak the settings that may help. I gave it a try and sure enough, it got rid of almost all blurriness and looks almost identical to the PS5 version. I pinned a comment describing what I did for anyone interested in eliminating the blur. It's odd though that by default it happens. Typically you only have to tweak settings to get better performance, not a clearer image lol.

So the texture quality is the same. The biggest difference is resolution and it runs really bad on a PC. I seriously don't get those developers its always the player community that will try to fix this game with mods at the end

It's def got something to do with the upscaling (dlss, fsr, xess). The ps5 also uses dynamic resolution for both of its modes, and it doesn't seem to have the blurry environment problem the PC encounters. I noticed they released an update a couple of days after I recorded this. I'm curious if that helped any.

I just went and adjusted the settings according to a response someone left me on this video. It looks almost identical to the ps5 version after changing some settings. I pinned a comment describing the changes made. It cuts the framerate from targeting 60 to targeting 30, but it does look significantly better now.

I don't know what low end system you are running it on but texture do not look that bad unless on very low with no details set. I enjoyed it on ps5 but the pc details and much higher frame rates is a blessing. I had to start completely over however

To this day, it baffles me how a game that is developed and optimized for a specific console can run so badly. 40fps max out of battle at 1080p, and 60fps in battle at 720p... while in performance mode!! We don't even talk about resolution mode. 30-40fps is just unplayable for a modern game like FF16. If we were talking about some pixel art game from the last century, you wouldn't notice sh*t, but this right here gives you motion sickness from hell. Just take some time to optimize your games, dammit...

Square must not have any interest in Xbox these days. It's been a minute since they've put an FF game on there. I can't really blame them, though. I'm glad to see this game at least going to PC, so it's not stuck only on PS5.
