The floors are in but I still have some badly pitted areas at the front where the floor would join the inner wheel tub section so time to sort that out.
Unfortunately my skills do not extend to being able to form this repair section in one go and to take a good bit out of it is a non starter for me really as the bigger the chunk the worse the curves, plus no point cutting out good metal :-)
So here we have several sections that were rotted cut out and replaced including a lip on the existing foot well that was NOT damaged before I removed the edge, it was easier to just remove and replace.
It would have been fantastic to be able to use the spot welder on these sections it was born for the job, but working myself this evening I cannot lift the handheld welder, it is far too heavy for my shoulder joints to support and would leave me in pain for at least a few days. So while working alone I need to have sensible limitations. Plug welds are not so bad :-)
These things happen, a few too many moments with the spot weld drill and its all the way through. Always far more failures and obstacles than successes on these old cars.
Still, all done now and it will clean up nicely with a skim of epoxy. I usually always leave some of the rough exposed rather than dig too deep with a flap disk, those things can just remove far too much in a flash.
