That was incredible! So so soooo good. A story, world, lore, characters, summons, combat AND slapping Soken theme song magic trailer! Square Enix continuing to prove they are the masters of trailers. Here is as condensed a highlights of our FF16 trailer reaction as I could make. That totally transcended me out of my body and my excitement for Final Fantasy 16 just severely cranked up. It dropped in the dead of night for us over here in asia so our reaction to this trailer masterpiece is on the later side. Ambition is a fitting title for everything I just saw. The ambition of what FF16 is setting out is truly magical. I'm so damn pumped by that trailer!

Square Enix once again stepping us as the kings of trailers, this one particularly may be one of my favourites of all time. I mean what else could you want!? All bases covered and Soken just god levelled the entire vibes. So who's landing on this being entirely connected to the FF14 universe beyond just references and aesthetic similaritys? WOL looking Barnabus/Odin coming out of that dark portal with some Ascian looking mofo in the mix. The ether/crystal and eikon ties.Trying to get in Yoshi-P's head here 😆 That cosmogony work is pretty epic to. If that does end up being the final Clive summon we control... I mean just the fact we are controlling any summons. It's been a few hours and I'm still ascending out of my skin suit 😌 Smack that likeroo if your on this game day 1 and if your happy for me to create a tsunami of story speculation/theory surrounding this game 🥰

Everyone's talking about how Clive is the dominant of Ifrit, and while I'm on the bandwagon, there's something of a theory that came to me: what if Clive is like some sort of Eikon conduit rather than a full on Eikon? Anyone heard of a game called Infamous 3? The guy could absorb other people's powers. Looking back at the previous trailers, the first Eikon's powers he absorbed was Ifrit's and that's why a lot of people assume he's the Eikon and he, being framed and banished, goes on his journey to get revenge against the actual Ifrit Eikon all while gathering the power of the other Eikons for himself. That's my take, anyway.

@@d.sack2727 good point lol, but what i mean is based on what we've seen so far this seems like it could be one of the best ff's. Obviously everyone has their favourites and own tier lists etc. If the story revolving around the summons is written well it could be quite unique. From the ff's I've played the summons always play a key role in the story but i feel like this one is going to take it to another level. Ffxv seemed like it was gonna be like that but sadly wasn't. So we won't know until it comes out, but one can hope haha

So on the page with the icons What I'm seeing although I may be wrong are : Bahamut : Odin : Leviathan : Titan : Garuda : The lord of lightning (using voice to text and did not except his name XD) : Shiva And the one at the top seems to have wings like phoenix And horns like ifrit meaning might be an amalgamation god possibly even something we've never seen before But that's just my take

Hey pez, in the summoner tapestry, the being at the top is probably ifrit and phoenix combined as one being. Further backed up by the fact both are absent in the picture. It’s probably that 1500 years ago before the fall of the founders, whatever they are, ifrit and phoenix were one combined being. Which is why everyone is shocked there’s a second eikon because the entity has been split into two. Also it looks like leviathan is in the background of that tapestry, which is super juicy if true because they’ve never been mentioned once yet.

Afaik, it is Maehiro, the guy who wrote Heavensward and worked on FFT, Vagrant Story and FFXII - a large amount of the people working in CBUIII worked on Matsuno's games and Yoshida is a huge fan of Matsuno, so the vibe checks out. :D

Are you guys seriously excited for this game? I don't mean to be negative or rude, I'm genuinely curious. To me, compared to previous mainline titles, this looks uninspired. The character designs are weak, they look like generic NPCs from FF XIV, they seemed to have went out of their way to not show exploration and I fear it won't have any romance. I Final Fantasy without a melodramatic and wholesome romance isn't complete. I would like to hear the opinions of other FF fans

People have been desperate for a medieval looking FF for years, people are sick of the Nomura stuff. A grounded, political struggle with iconic summons as the motivation? Sounds fucking amazing. It's like if FF Tactics was remade in the modern day. Yoshi P knows how to deliver a story well and will make it feel more FF than ever before.

​@@wolfspledge1762 I understand and I share the sentiment, specially when it comes to Nomura being a hack. I don't know anything about Yoshi P since I don't care about MMOs, but it was the first time I heard of people talking about the story of an MMO as one of its most important aspects, so I suppose it must indeed be good. I guess my problem with XVI is the art direction. It just seems weak. And I'm confused about the political stuff because if I remember correctly, one of the reasons people disliked XII was because of it.

@@Rivershield I've always seen the opposite, people saying (correctly) that MMOs have an advantage when it comes to storytelling because they have far more time, FFXIV just ended its FIRST saga after 10 years and are now going for another long saga, when Chains of Promathia released for FFXI years ago people called it one of the greatest FF stories ever. I think a lot of people also prefer the political aspect of FF, it's the sole reason Tactics is regarded as one of the best stories. It's far more mature, less 'anime', and often darker in themes grounded in a more realistic tone, especially when Empires and such are involved, basically the anti-Nomura style.

@@wolfspledge1762 The most popular FFs are FFVI, VII, VIII, XI and X, and none of them feature the aspects you describe. Tactis is the exception, not the rule. As for the MMO, i never heard of anyone playing an MMO for the story until A Realm Reborn was released. Storytelling in MMOs are usually garbage compared to single player games. Nomura is a hack but FF wasn't defined by him at all, it was defined by Sakaguchi, so I don't think it's approppriate to analisy the series through the lens of what Nomura did. Lastly, personaly I don't centering the game around politics will make it more "mature and realistic". Realism specially is not a term that should be used with final FANTASY. When I play Final Fantasy, I want to see fantasy. I'm not saying having it centered around politics is bad, but I think it's a secondary or tertiary factor. What should be more important are the fantasy themes, not the realistic ones. I suspect you might be a zoomer who didn't play the classics.

I'm honestly curious to know by what metric you're using to describe "most popular" because it really seems like you mean your own preference. And again, the MMO stuff people have raved about story in them for many years, I'm not sure how old you are but I lived through the FFXI boom, used to go on all the websites reading its lore, Chains of Promathia heavily focused on its story, this was the early 2000s. And Sakaguchi is actually obsessed with FFXIV funnily enough, he was on the last XIV livestream the devs did, posts about it all over his Twitter, and wants to write for the game himself. I suspect you might be a zoomer who has a short attention span for storytelling.

well this time yoshiP is in direction of the game, so we can expect an final fantasy full of story again. not the mess ff15 was dont get me wrong, 15 is my favourite by far but it had so so much story content cut out, even after the royal edition. you couldnt even explore tenebrae without glitching out of bounds 🫤. when you glitch out of bounds you notice how much fucking content was cut out and it did hurt so much to see that. i hope ff16 will get enough love
