FINALLY Buying a Lamborghini? Huracan Performante or New STO!

Is it finally time to add a Lamborghini to the Shmeemobiles? The Performante is already quite a car having broken the Nurburgring record, but Lambo are still working on going further with the upcoming STO! A road legal Super Trofeo is inbound, and perhaps it could be the first raging bull in my garage...
Lamborghini have twice broken the Nurburgring Nordschleife production car lap record in recent times; both with the Huracan Performante and more recently also with the Aventador SVJ claiming it back from the GT2 RS, and with the rumours the AMG GT Black Series is on the cusp of breaking it right now, it would be a safe bet that we'll see Lambo back at the Green Hell with the upcoming Huracan STO to continue the fight for the title! With these cars so specifically created for this kind of driving, and my love for lapping the Ring, perhaps it's time to think much more about this and look to make the move to add one to the garage.
To date, I have not owned a Lamborghini despite considering it on multiple occasions. In fact, when the Performante launched, I did think about it back then but with the arrival of both my Ford GT and McLaren Senna on the horizon, a 3rd similar mid-engine supercar wasn't going to work out, not to mention the financial element contained within. Some time has now gone by, and with the GT Black Series soon to arrive itself in my garage, wouldn't it be quite fun to look again to add another Ring Record holder to the garage?
During the GerCollector Track Day at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, join me for some laps aboard the 640hp track-focused variant of the Huracan, to see what it's like jumping straight in and going out for some laps. With a huge variety of cars attending the day, we enjoy the company of GerCollector's Ferrari F40, a trio of BMW M4 GT4 racecars, and even some Porsche 911 Cup cars too.

Im almost sure you're buying the LFA and not this. There is tons of lambo content but nothing on LFA. So I think you'll go for the LFA.

Don't forget how expensive an LFA is, and it's not possible to do anything like the same thing. For interest, an LFA is 3x a Performante, or Performante + STO together.

​@@gcscr lol if you think that's relevant you completely miss the point of Lamborghini in Ferrucio's time. Ferrucio had zero interest in taking his company racing. He made grand tourers and sportscars for superstars. People who were someone. He didn't want to make racecars. He even sued his engine designer because the V12 engine he designed was too high revving and racy, and just barely allowed his employees to build a prototype race spec car in their spare time. It wasn't until after his retirement from the company before they supplied F1 engines.

Such a classy move by Ger Collector to set up a track day with Pirelli. Good to see you're having fun. Luckily you can get tuners to dial out the understeer and set the car up as a Ring toy if you get one...but the STO will most likely be just RWD.

The Performante has already progressed through a bit of depreciation, so if you're on the fence then I'd just go for a mid-mileage Performante. Not sure how the mileage (KM-age) range of Huracan Performantes is in your region but in the US, it's about 7k Mi, or 11k Km, and there's actually one which is close to that mileage and listed in Wisconsin for $270k. Interestingly, there's another unit with over twice the mileage at 16k, which is listed at $264k. I'm not sure how it is where you're willing to shop from, in terms of market values, but it seems in the US the market bottoms out at 270k USD / 228k EUR. Even if one were to leverage the 7k mileage unit to negotiate aggressively against the one with 16k mileage, the depreciation is still not too bad. If the 16k mileage unit's value did hold during negotiation, it'd kind of an interesting proposition because unless you're looking for something to keep for a long time, buying a unit at 11k KM would be a "broken-in" (...do you have that phrase over there?) unit where the depreciation would then be relatively tame. I'd like to close by (a) acknowledging I'm way out of my depth and have 0 say in this decision, and (b) if depreciation isn't a concern then the STO is a super awesome proposition. Also, this comment was partially inspired by a comment you made about a Bentley (can't remember the exact model) and trying to imagine how much it'd depreciate. Rationale comments aside, the F40 shot at 15:24 was gorgeous. Awesome day and thanks for posting!
