I'm baffled by the lack of actual competition to the index knuckles, how difficult should it be to make an occulus touch style controller for lighthouse tracking.

I have the controllers but they have horrible tracking with my valve index headset.

It will be interesting to see how well this track pad holds up as compared to HTC's track pad (slipped disk issue), but I would have preferred to have seen the thumbstick version. just curious as to which way Pimax will go, a good quality thumbstick like Xbox, PS3 or Touch controller thumbstick or cheap out with the same crappy thumbsticks as on the Index controllers.

That will be a good test. I think the location of the rings will work better than the WMR controllers, at the very least.

That would be terrible for pimax to not honor yet another Kickstarter stretch goal. I would hope they would understand that doing this will result in a lot of anger; especially since it is not just Backers but also pre orders.

@ludiks Well Backers all paid the same with pre orders only having a deposit. Those who have stayed the course on whether backer or pre order will not be impressed if they wanted Sword Sense Stick. And don't think ppl will want a low ball voucher with extremely limited options to use it on.

If Oculus Rift CV1 controllers and Index controllers had a baby... The missing button would be an issue. I guess the track pad option being an option for those who want it is okay. Not sure how many orders of that model they'll get though. I personally haven't heard of any hardware form Pimax I'd be interested in anyway, but I am looking forward to the next thing from Valve.

Lighthouse tracking desperately needs an alternative to the vive wands and index knuckles. These can't come soon enough!!

These just look like quest 2 ergonomics but the halo ring is at the wrist of your hand instead of at the top of the controller. I hope they work on making a version with a thumbstick and more buttons.

Great video! I wish Pimax had only one variant of this sword controller with just a joystick rather then this touchpad version. Now we will wait for another year at least for the joystick version :) On the other hand if software is good and it is durable enough than looks like Pimax has finally nailed it.

I love the touchpad on the index controller and use it 99% of the time for all movement. My question is how is it on oculus games. Since oculus hates touchpad, I'm curious to know if it would cause issues in any of their games(this is without using revive).

It would work but every game would have to be mapped by yourself so just a pain but it should work as vice wands do

At first it wasnt intended to add that in, in the begining. But then decided to add it in before release. Until now we just got word in the fourms, that the capsense for them are a miss. Which is a complete bummer honestly coz either way i would of loved it to have finger tracking as well. It would of been a good compeitor for the Index for the time being. But now from what been said: "In our efforts to optimize Capsense (individual finger tracking) capability for our Sword of VR controllers we have determined we will not be able to achieve the level of compatibility we set out to accomplish and will not include a Capsense capability in our Sword Controllers. Other prominent requests are to add a “B” button and a version with a joystick. We have decided not to create alternation versions of the Sword controller and will only release the trackpad version. We understand some of you may be disappointed with this decision and we sincerely apologize to those of you interested in a joystick version."
