Third time a charm…love the computer mount spot….😊

My bilge is right in front of my intake at the rear of the motor. My original steering nozzle had venturi bilges and I placed them in the space on either side between the pump and stringers . Since then I've changed to a southern jet nozzle and no longer run venturis . After cracking the bow open on last falls epic recovery I can confirm the bilge location was adequate ! Ha ha ha .

There just isn't enough room to put a bilge any where around the intake unless it is 2 inches off the floor or I cut the stringer.
@HalfCutGarage Жыл бұрын
@MakingStuff I won't fit right beside that rear motor mount ? If not I'd go inside the stringer and drill a couple holes in it to allow the water in
@finleycly Жыл бұрын
I agree with notching the stringer as others have said. Also, when building my boat, I put a bilge on both sides of the intake. You'd be surprised how much water can build up on just one side.
@MakingStuff Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm going to put 2 bilges on it. Thanks for watching!

I mounted mine on it's side to the transom and the side down to the floor working perfectly fine.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Bilge pump off a sea doo sits pretty low- they work off vaccum off the jet but you could probably rig it up if you haven’t done so already

The ones on the Yamaha skis aren't very good.

2 pumps. one big slave pump on the stringer for bulk water if you smash a hole you wont sink... Second pump is inline and has a large gaused pickedup in the deepest corner and will not save your boat but will keep your hull sucked right out for every day boat use

3:22 if that fitting is stainless steel, I would suggest applying a bit of anti-seize on the threads. Stainless and aluminum can result in galling and the results are not pretty.

Thanks, will do!

cut a notch out of the stringer to fit the bilge pump down and flush with the floor, a small notch wont affect the structural ability of the boat
@MakingStuff Жыл бұрын
That's the plan I'm going with so far. Thanks for watching!
@mrgoldfpv7331 Жыл бұрын
Just install venturis and the bilge will be back up pump.If venturis stops working then bilge will kick on.That’s my jet skis setup.

Can you weld a 1/4" thick length of aluminium along the stringer then drill holes large enough to let the water into the stringer?
@MakingStuff Жыл бұрын
Good option, thanks for watching!

Something with a pick up tube would be great, what I was thinking right before you mentioned you couldn’t find anything of that sort. I’ll ask my father in law he’s a boat guy lol looks killer though I wish I could see it in person.
@MakingStuff Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I would really like to find one with a pick up tube. I'm shocked no one makes one, at least that I can find.
@downtoearthconstruction7768 Жыл бұрын
@@MakingStuff I was wondering if a 90* radiator hose would go over the bottom and maybe reduce it down to the pickup point. Maybe a Livewell pump idk I’ve seen some with 800gph.

I think if you make a hole and bracket at your support rails will do much better to zip the lowest part of the floor i think ka-Metal 😁😁😁

Honestly don't know. It was spread out over 18 months.

Could you tell me what you run your welder on with .035 wire for welding mild steel because i just can't find a happy medium with 75-25 gas and i really think i need to be run the the 25-75 gas for thinner steel ???
@MakingStuff Жыл бұрын
I use 75 -25 gas for steel. I'll have to find mind notes for steel settings. My brain has been programmed for aluminum for the past year. Thanks for watching!
@JohnThomas-gj2zg Жыл бұрын
@Making Stuff I love seeing just how you did the boat and I am a welder but the yeswelder is all new to me and I am using the 75-25 gas but just can't find happy spot for welding thin steel .

Could you get away with drilling some weep holes in the stringer? That would be my first idea.
@MakingStuff Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think that's what I am going to try first.

Hea I'm thinking strongly about selling my big boat and going into business and making these can anyone stear me in the right direction our if this is not a good idea because the market is flooded with people that are already doing that I'm in New York on a huge lake and I grew up running a family marina and running it I built a boat out of fiberglass and wood when I was younger and thru a 20 hp high Rev mercury racing motor on the back then I never really used it because I found that building it was what I really liked and I lost everything in a really tragic sittuion so now I have to rebuild my life all over again so I have access to tools wise and stuff like that so I could get everything needed and this would be a good way to I think make money I'm just very afraid of the market if anyone got any info on doing this from ground zero please help also I am a certified welder so that out the way I just would like to no what people think before I jump into this I can run sales thru the marina and do everthing that way
