I spent 10 yrs in a closet in Boston with severe back pain unable to stretch or exercise all i could do was sit and watch TV not until recently have i been able to move around since moving to Colarado, in the short time i have been here i been able to stretch and exercise and i have noticed an immense change in the severity of my lower back pain i am able to sleep better and move around without being in as much pain as i once was and can see how this is a life change not to mention the weight lose that comes with being able to move around looking forward to the warm weather when i can get out side. only 3 months in to my new journey.

As Bre says, there’s no 1 thing to fix your back, it’s a combination of many things and making them ‘a way of life’ to enjoy rather than thinking it’s something you have to do and then stop when you feel your back easing, only to have the pain keep reoccurring. I have been with this channel since our first lockdown (March 2020 in England) and felt I have ‘arrived’ in yoga, helping my back pain and general well-being in mind and body. Stick with Breath and Flow, Your search is over.... 🙏🏻

Hey all. I've a herniated disc and been off work for 2 years. I've tried so so many therapies and have had two epidurals for pain. Due to covid I haven't been able to start yoga or more physio. This video and your words have given me so much hope. Thank you so much ❤️
@autoinjuryhelpme Жыл бұрын
Did the epidurals help your pain or were they only temporary. Thank you for sharing. I have heard mixed things but on average that epidurals are needed every 6 months which I dont want to do. I am also terrified of getting an epidural.
@Mister_kipling Жыл бұрын
@Tuberose hi there. Gosh that was 2 years ago. Feels longer. I only had temporary relief with the injection. From what I can recall, it was about 3 months. The game changer for me was regular physio and most of all patience. Once I allowed my body to heal naturally and trust the process. It still isn't 100% and never will be but you manage the pain. Physiotherapy for the mind not only the body. Do some research on retraining the brain to manage pain.

I'm a yin yoga sleep specialist!!! Thanks Bree for this beautiful video. Yoga helped me hugely to strengthen my back but I still have days when my low back is still sore or painful. I will have to sleep more on my back. Big challenge for me but you gave me a good reason. 3 hours supine twist is not helping ;). Love you guys. Litterally doing 2 classes of yours a day. One Embark in the morning and one intermediate/strong class during lunchtime.

Thanks a lot guys for this video. I would like to add one aspect which is the stress reduction. Even I was never overweight and I was moving a lot I have been having back pain since I was 14. The main reason for 2herniated discs I got was the family situation I grew up in which was very unpleasant. I my opinion, reducing stress is a crucial thing we can do to protect our spine and to improve the overall health. Yoga has become for me not only the physical exercise to fix my back pain but also an amazing possibility to take my life easier, to forgive my family and to connect myself with my inner wisdom.

Hey there, YES, this video is definitely useful. There's only one point I'm missing and it's the importance of core strength plus how to get there when you're already in constant excruciating pain. My own back problem was brought on, among other things, by doing a lot of advanced yoga with zero core-strength by simply falling into the poses; hyper-flexibility didn't help either... So, visiting this channel is the first time after over ten years that I'm cautiously trying to go back to any kind of yoga practice at all. But now, after years of planking and doing a lot of other strengthening stuff, all the muscles I need are strong. The difference for any daily practice and every day life in general is simply incredible! I'm still not free of pain but I can already see that a strong muscle corset is absolutely necessary if I'm ever to get out of pain... + following all of Bre's recommendations of course :-)

Rather than buying a hard mattress i find the quickest way to relieve back issues is to sleep on the floor. there are lots of people describing it here. I don't sleep directly on the hard floor, but use a camping mattress and duvet for a base or something, whatever i have available.

This video was perfect. I stopped being able to bathe myself and walk without pain. I would do nothing but lay in bed. That is the way to keep having back pain. I started doing small walks and started doing little yoga stretches. I see an improvement in my quality of life, although there’s pain still, I have started to be able to do more! Like cook or little by little longer walk times. Good days and bad days. I changed my language, the way I speak to myself and express that I can do things. The brain is very malleable and can keep learning new habits. Another important factor is to see a psychologist if you’ve had trauma. Trauma stays trapped in the body and can create things like fibromyalgia. (Read The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk. It explains what happened during trauma and what keeps occurring.) Good luck, all. We’ve got this

Greetings from Tbilisi! I've recently found your channel. Thanks for all the great videos. I'm here to say that I've been struggling with back pain, for years now actually. It has never been so bad as to hamper my walking, however, it is constant pain. I can't sit for long, walk for long, stay in one pose for long. It is extremely draining. I have scoliosis and a small hernia. I've tried so many different exercises, but so far I'm still in pain. bearable pain. I knew that forward bends were not so good but didn't realize backbends could be tricky as well. I was wondering if you are planning to make a video with a handful of exercises, combinations, that are safe and recommended for the lower back, to strengthen it. Sorry for such a long message and thanks!

You guys have been an awesome addition to my life! But you (or Flo really) often finish with reverse bridge, and it seems to crush my sciatic nerve. I've had to ease off a lot of poses because of my sciatica and I miss the deep practice. In this video, you mention reverse bridge as therapeutic... Maybe I'm a weirdo.

@BreatheAndFlow3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s a backbend and asymmetrical which puts it in the “be very careful” category. Ask yourself why you practice it and if you can get to that functionality in a different pose or movement.
