I was a little put off by the sparkling wounds at first, but in hindsight it'll probably be necessary. In the first trailrr we saw that we'll be fighting monsters in really dark and stormy environments. Searching the body of a monster while its attacking you for a small wound will probably be pretty hard, especislly for larger more complex monsters. Thus, the sparkles are good i think, albeit very video gamey.

I like how they made the Great Sword completely assume its status as the hit & run weapon with that quicksheath, but it still has the heaviness of the hits. I love it. Also, it seems the wounds do disappear when hit by the big focus attack at 31:08 so I assume it means, as they said before, that the wounding mecanic won't take too much importance in the hunts as tenderizing did. It would be a good change if that's true. On a last note, I hope the auto tracking would take place when you have an advanced ecology reaserch level on individual monsters. Like you have maxed your research on Chatacabra so he appears on the map from the start an the Seikret just has to follow the scoutflies.

You hit the monster too fast, stole my wound attack, and made us do less damage. ME GS, ME DO BIGGER DAMAGE!!!!" None of that shit, you each can make a wound to focus on. That also means that some can focus the head while others wound the tail to cut it, and a hh user can just make a wound anywhere else while they are busy exhausting the monster for you guys and buffing you.

Something I am a little bit uncertain about is how important the Seikret seems; so far we've seen it can be used to (on top of everything you could already do with Palamutes) access areas you otherwise couldn't, pick you up off the ground after a hit, and track the monster for you. It was also used in what would appear to be the introduction to the Balahara in its quest, seeming p necessary in getting through that first segment. My questions lie with what a hunt might look like without it, and whether or not that's even possible Granted, I'm sure I'm gonna use it anyway, but like in past games you could hunt without Palicoes or the Shakalaka kids or Palamutes and all it would really cost you is some extra damage and support. Here, though, it seems like the Seikret is pretty integral to the base experience of the game, which I'm not like outraged against or anything, mind you, but I am a little bit wary about

You have to tackle then press right face button to perform it. Though it retains a charge from a prior charge slash. Even a TCS. Though you have to tackle. Another neat property of leaping wide slash is that it gains multiple hits the more charge it has and even has a small element and status build up multiplier. Pretty neat.

Slight correction at 23:11 , Palamute didn't introduce this. When they brought in the ability to call in a nearby small monster in Iceborne to ride to your target, that allowed you to use items and sharpen your weapon, plus also go directly to the monster if you knew where it was. Civ 5? More of a Civ 6 man myself. Quite curious about 7. It's a minor thing, similar to how gl's wyvern fire can do the same thing when it's charging or hbg wyvern ammo. For something like s&s or db, you still have to have them in reach of your weapons so those ones may struggle to do this more, depending on how the monsters move. Those weapons are kind of infamous for their limited reach. My question is, can we alter angles vertically or not? This is all well and good but the real value of focus mode letting you "aim attacks" is those moves that have very limited animations that are prone to missing. Things like ls final spirit slash only being able to hit the feet, lance high thrust not being able to hit a leviathan or fish that's low to the ground, cb's axe double swing having the same issue as ls, etc. If my hopes are what they are doing with this, focus mode will be a lot more valuable and beloved by hunters of most weapon classes. Depending on the monster's color scheme and things like that, in the heat of battle, wounds may be a little harder to see for some people. I personally6 love that this is an option to have them highlighted. Nice accessibility feature built right into the game mechanic, if you want to use it for that and if you don't it's not that distracting. I hope hunters notes are more like Rise, this system shows us where the weak point is so, for the hunter notes to be useful, they kind of have to provide more deteailed information like hit zone numbers and the status chart that Rise had.

Focus mode literally just looks like an "aim down sights" mode for every weapon, which is interesting. I'm sure it'll be a neat mechanic to use. The gameplay so far looks overall good, as I would expect from this series. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the Seikret just automatically escorting you to the monster. That's honestly pretty lame. It won't ruin the game though. Capcom are the kings of gameplay in several genres, so I'm confident this game will be amazing.

@mallow29025 ай бұрын
@@cr-volcanic I guess if it can be turned off that's fine, but my problem with the response to criticisms of mechanics with "just don't use it" is that it's often really not that simple. You could "just not use" the auto tracking, but what about when you're playing with three other people and they're all automatically tracking the monster? That's gonna be annoying to them if you're always showing up late because you took the long way around, and therefore you're extending hunt times. An example I can think of in another franchise is Armored Core 6's smart targeting system, which adds a Souls-like lock on to the game that automatically aims your weapons and controls the camera for you while it's active. Technically you can just not use it, but you're honestly just shooting yourself in the foot by not using it, especially against bosses. It didn't ruin AC6 (well, at least not the single player portion of the game), far from it, but it's a pretty drastic change for a mech shooting game that previously asked you to aim your weapons manually, and the game expects you to use it, and is designed around it in multiple ways. It lets you control your boosters and fire all four weapons simultaneously because they assume you're going to use smart targeting, meaning your thumb isn't on the right stick and free to press other buttons while the game handles aiming for you. If you don't use smart targeting and would rather manually aim yourself like in previous games, then you have to juggle aiming on the right stick, and pressing the face buttons to either use your boosters or fire your second set of weapons, depending on the control scheme. It did add some cool and appreciated new mechanics, but the addition of a lock on mode to facilitate them means the game kinda lost a core aspect of its gameplay that had always been there before. Game mechanics don't get added for no reason. It's why I'm hesitant to call things like walking while using a potion in Monster Hunter World and Rise "quality of life" because it is a big change to the game that affects game balance. I'm also not saying that change was bad, but it definitely goes far beyond what I would call "quality of life". Sorry for the long winded rant, just kinda wanted to explain why I think "just don't use it" isn't really that simple, and game mechanics don't exist in a vacuum. Again, auto tracking won't ruin the game though. We'll gain a lot of really cool things in Wilds that we will appreciate alongside this addition that we may not be crazy about.
@yourdad57995 ай бұрын
@@mallow2902 Hard lock on in AC6 is situational and sometimes actively makes the expirience worse. It literaly makes your bullet tracking worse. I get a lot of what you're putting down, agree with pretty much a lot of the video. I still think we might have some implication of tracking the monster, better than in Rise I hope, but if it's just you already know where they're at then I guess that's fine too. I try to look at it as a way of them trying to streamline the game so they can get more eyes and consumers on it. World/Iceborne always had a split when it came to the new mechanics they introduced so we're gonna have some people glad and or mad that they took out a certain mechanic. Focus Strikes seem to be primarily focused on weakpoints and wounds, and it seems when you use that strike the wounds disappear, not sure if it's going to do that with the monster's natural weakpoints but you do have some kind of buffer on using them which is good. Overall this game seems to be a middle ground of World & Rise when it comes to how flow of combat, prepping and tracking the monster. I'm really enjoying what we have so far and this looks like another massive seller, hopefully it does and we have a solid game with it.
@emblemblade92455 ай бұрын

I don’t know how I feel about GS being able to full 180° turn during a charge. MHW brought in like a 45° turn which felt good and a bit more forgiving, but I feel like this full turn infringes on the identity of the GS a little bit. It will feel good to play, I’ve played Dauntless and that’s how their big beefy Axe weapon works, but imma need to sit with it for a bit. GS is meant to be the big commitment big reward weapon, but we keep taking steps to make the commitment smaller like spinning during the charge or this massively increased sheathing speed we see. I think we’re getting to the point that GS is not the biggest commitment weapon anymore when you compare it to the other heavy weapons. It’s QOL that maybe we could have toned down for GS specifically. To contrast that, I think the SnS combo adjusting mid-combo feels very in line with how SnS already played and just pushes it further. I like that implementation a lot more.

May be coping a bit here. But on the topic of the auto tracking, part of me really hopes that in the full game you'll have to level up your research level with a certain monster until it allows the seikret to auto track it. If the foot tracks and stuff are removed, that's fine, but still kinda sucks imo. I just really, really hope they don't do what Rise did and show the monster at all times. Granted, you do make a pretty good point about how big the maps are, and more involved tracking being reduced is just the compromise for that. Overall I'm really liking how the game's shaping up so far, tho!

I never really cared for the old school tracking compared to world, because once you’ve fought the monster a couple times you already knew what number it spawned in. It was also annoying having to use/reapply paintballs because it made no sense whatsoever. If they got rid of the scoutflies showing you right where the monster was on world, and instead gave us like footstep facing or tips (like on Evolve) that would probably be better.

I imagine it’s translated from Japanese right? So that might be some of the confusion with the weak point wording. I do agree that it seems a bit op with weak points included and I also hope they aren’t spammy. They also show lbg in the focus gameplay I think but we also saw hbg rapid firing before. Again I agree that the seikret auto track is lame. Yet another edit, the game looks really stable and I assume it’s tested on consoles(most likely ps5) while still looking great which is really refreshing from dragons dogma 2 but idk if that was on a different engine. P.S greatsword users we are so back

How tf is focus mode working for bowguns? It would be super easy for them to wound if they just gotta use a couple bullets

You don't wound parts in focus mode alone. You wound them by hitting them in general

You don’t wound through focus mode. You highlight through focus mode, and do wound punishing attacks. Wounding happens naturally through damage to the monster

I feel like the evolution of the Clutch Claw tenderizing to the new infliction of the "wounds", is a classic case of "they thought so much about wether that could improve it, that they forgot to ask if they should". Yes, it's definitly an improvement. But why? Nobody asked for tenderization before World and nobody would miss it now. While the wound mechanic is realistic and could improve immersion (i guess), i think it's only a downside gameplay wise. If you're hitting a spot thats already a weakpoint then... well then what? It doesn't matter because you would've focused on that spot anyway. But if you're attacking a non-weakspot then you're just rewarded for playing badly (although i'm not a DPS-elitist, just pointing that out is warranted from a gameplay perspective). So whats the point? This will just further increase automation while hunting. I feel similarly about the focus mode. Attacking where the camera is facing makes MH look like a hack&slash JRPG but... anyway. I would like to hear other peoples opinions concerning wounds. And if someone can defend them, please do! I'd love to hear

This, while I’m absolutely excited for a new game (only having played Rise and then world circa 2022) I also love the thought of the simple, modern, monster hunter. Just weapons and weak points… wire bugs were very fun to learn, but being spoiled by all the movement, I found clutch claw to be an awful mechanic that I couldn’t grasp.

Making a previously bad hitzone into an acceptable one sounds great. I would totaly go for the safest place on the monster, create a better hitzone and not deal with it's bullshit. In World I often tenderise Rajang's back because I don't have to deal with as much bullshit if go for the back. Focus mode exclusive attacks just look cool and that's the only thing I need honestly.
@Armbrust2105 ай бұрын
@@yourdad5799 Well yes that would be a good point, but in actuality it won't work like that. Let's say you inflict 10 damage a Hit on the head and 5 on the body. Creating a weak point on the body might increae your damage by 50 percent, making the difference only 2,5 points of damage. However, you can also wound weak spots like the head, so then if we apply the same boost of 50%, we're back to twice the damage. So if it'll work like this, they cancel out. If anything, your playstyle will get punished as you now would need to Hit a lot smaller target to inflict the needed damage, as they will surely adjust the health pools like they did in Iceborne to require frequent wounding, decreasing the benefits of these non-weak points that are usually much larger than just the head if we take the example from before. Players that already Hit weak spots will therefore not be affected as much.

I'm not as happy to see that it looks like everything that's gonna be throwable is gonna be used through the slinger. It does slow down the pace a little, especially when you're swapping between flash pods and other slinger ammo. It just adds more steps than what's really needed and can lead to missing a prime flash point if you have the wrong ammo loaded into the slinger. I was hoping to have some items be thrown by the hunter and then have some dedicated slinger ammo, especially when you have as much access to your inventory as sns does. The majority of this has been really cool to see.

- As someone that has loved the gimmicks from the "Between Mainline" games like Generations and Rise, I will gladly enjoy whatever fun wacky things they can add to a mainline game 😆 - I'll agree with the tracking method. Traversing the map and in-between zones and suddenly finding a big ass monster after who knows how long of finding it was a nice feeling like "Oh shit!". So hopefully they have a "Hunter" & "Casual" Tracking method option - Imma miss swinging around like Spiderman tho 🥲
