Nice to hear all your enthusiasm! It also gets me enthusiastic :-) I tried different foils past year. Also High aspect ones. I really like the thin MA foils that are there nowadays. Much easier for gybing and just a bit slower. I sold my High aspect foils, and decided to stay with my thin MA foils (1550, 1250, 1000 cm2). Greetings from the Netherlands!

Thanks so much bud! Yeah it’s been quite the foil journey in the past 3 years. I am heavily considering the 1225 and 800, but I think I can get by with just the 1000 for now and I’ll keep all the HAs. I think I can do more with the HAs, use them more aggressively. But I also wanna try 360 jumps this year and the MAs are a lot less… pointy. I’m gonna try my friend’s 1225 before I make any decisions. I wish you and your Netherlandish peeps an awesome weekend!!

Hi Jeremy, foiling the MA1000 for some time now, both prone and wing, I am on the FG surf 4.5 and FG Sup 5.25 with the 72 mast and tried the HA195 with shim and no shim, if I leave the shim out the tail is not giving me more lift but way more drag which makes pumping much harder. The nice think about the FG boards is, I can use the same setup on both boards (prone and winging) mast at position 10 and the blue shim (not sure yet if I like the red shim more). The best thing about the MA1000 is that it has almost the same lift as the HS1250 but more speed and no problem if you breaching. Did you had to positioned the new mast different? All the best from windy New Zealand (Cyclone Gabrielle is getting closer, looks like its to windy for winging today my local weather station in the Far North already shows 50+ knots)

Sup bud! great to hear your thoughts on this. I've had 4 sessions now on it, and since session one (this video) I'm riding it at the same I ride the HA's at, which is 8. and that's what I put my 72cm mast at too. It all seems fine. I haven't added a shim yet to the MA, I'll probably go right to the red next session and dial it back if that feels weird. I ride the HA's with the red at all times. good to know you think it pumps better with the shim. I liked the pump on it, it's hard to tell if I'm getting better at pumping, if the 795 is helping, or if the MA1000 helps the most. prolly all three are factors. have you been on the 1225? I'm curious about that one and if it's worth getting it if I end up keeping all the HAs. Dude I hope Gabrielle sends you some epic conditions to ride! Let me know how it goes!! I can't wait for the next swell sesh with decent waves. my last wave sesh was good but nothing clean or consistent about it. I can't wait to have a peeling down-the-line day on some overhead conditions :P

@@OCEANBOUND1 No haven't tried the 1225 but I am thinking of selling all my HS and get the MA's (and the new 205 stab) this front wing just feels right to me. Gabrielle is crashing down the east coast, I am on the west coast once the Cyclone is more south the wind usually change to south west and we can get some nice surf.🤙

Yeew awesome superstoked for you I knew the M.A would be amazing right in the sweet spot of aspect ratio sure looked like you where ripping its so lively under your feet . Love the fact that when you started sending it that's all you wanted to do . Love the Oceanbound cap and top black looked good 👍. Keep them coming bro it's my favourite drop of the week .
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
oh wow thanks so much Chris! yeah the MA's are a refreshing change. I hope they get me into good habits where I consistently start cranking some tighter turns and then when I go to the HA's, maybe I'll start to push my turns to be more like the MAs. cause honestly the HAs can do better than what I've made them do, I know it. so I just need some inspiration. but yeah the MAs are nice, my last session was a wave sesh and it was such a fun and playful session.

Great initial review! When you get the 205 Surf stab, be prepared to move the mast back a few cms, especially if no shim. I run a red and blue and am around 1cm back from ha settings. Really dials up the front foot pressure and takes away pitchy-ness at high speeds over 20mph. Stoked on the 100 and 800. 800 can be tough to get out of the water with 195, 205 helps. Similar to 725.
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
Ok this is great info, thanks! Good to know you ride it back with the 205. I’ve had 4 sessions on the MA1000 yet and o my the first one (this one) I put 1cm forward, the rest I’ve been putting it at the same as my HAs and digging that? How is the 800? Does it feel a little like the 725 or more sturdy under foot? I can imagine it needs more speed and power. I’m not sure if I need to go there yet, leaning more toward the 1225 for some lighter wind. So you are riding 1.5 shims on the MAs? I’ve shimmed all the HAs but decided to try this one at zero and haven’t changed that yet. And do you think these are pitchy at higher speeds? I’m not sure I’ve noticed that yet but will try to notice the next couple sessions. Fun to have something new!! Good to know you are digging them. Still not selling the HAs. I still love them. Always great to hear from you,I wish you an awesome weekend!!
@grahamreed8443 Жыл бұрын
@@OCEANBOUND1 yeah the 800 is a tough call when you have a 725 in the quiver. Definitely some overlap, but the 800 does have a more stable underfoot feeling and more confidence inspiring turning on swells at higher speeds. Plus breaching recovery is mental. Will not dive deep like you mentioned with the 1000, so it will take acclimation, again like you mentioned. I was riding no shim or one blue with the fv200 and 195 I think. I really only noticed the pitchy feel with the 195 when around 21mph. I was able to tie my best speed (22.7 I think) with the 800 and 205 tail and it felt more comfortable compared to the 725/195. My HAs aren’t going anywhere either. If I’m covering distance or DW riding, I’ll probably be on the HAs. If bump riding powered up or wave riding or prone, MAs for now. I ordered a 6’3” Armie DW board, so that should be interesting! Have a great weekend as well. Nothing better than a ocean bound vid while having lunch!! 🤙🤙

Hey Jeremy, what gloves are you rocking? Fun looking session!
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
Sup bud! If I wear gloves I always prefer to be on the NP 1.5mm Neo seamless gloves. They are light and comfortable, and I’ll wear them until it’s freaking cold. They are good for winging cause they aren’t super sticky but the only thing is they aren’t the warmest option, but the forearm fatigue is minimal. Any warm day I’ll rock them if possible. Our water still goes colder, it’s around 40F now but can get down to 34-32 if we get a cold winter. When the air is like 36F and the water is 36F, that’s when I’ll prolly go thicker. I’ve tried open palm mitts recently. I’m not super sold on them and it think these NPs are better. I’m not sure if I do a video on those though. I have no desire to try them again, especially for anything colder than the day I wore them.

If u have a chance to try Mike's Lab, u gotta!

Why would you change you footstrap position if your on Armstrong FG? Just move it forward 1,5-2cm compared to where you ride HAs. Just rode MA1225 yesterday with 93,5. Running out of tracks (North seek board) so had to move my footstrapps back 1-2cm. Anyway its a great foil, big range, slow stall, fast enough, very easy and forgiving so you can push your limit. Liking it more and more, still keeping my HAs tho, think they are better but would love to try ma1000
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
sup bud! I've had 4 sessions on the MA and turns out I'm just riding the MA at the same as the HA and it feels fine to me. the only reason I'd change the footstrap position is preference for jumping, but no need at this point. great to hear you dig the 1225, I'm pretty sure I'll go there. I really want to start trying some 360 jumps and whatnot this year, and I've love a foil that was easy to get up after repeated fails but wasn't as pointy on the ends as the HAs. but the 800... I'm not sure if I need that. it's prolly a little more stable than the 725 but I'm only on the 725 when the waves are big and fast or when I'm totally LIT on my sinker. the 1000 is really nice, you'd def like it, but not worth selling the 925. how have you been digging the 935 mast?
@Stefan-Foil Жыл бұрын
@@OCEANBOUND1 Yea I totally dig the 935 mast. I thought it would be too long on the wave and not as direct but totally the other way, feels more direct. But not sure I actually need that extra length, 85 was perfect but still. New mast goes better upwind, less flex in the chop, never breach, feels faster, better glide. Im a bit heavy at 95kg wet so it makes a big difference for me. BUT first time it felt weird with the rake, nose rides higher but got used to it after one session.
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
@@Stefan-Foil awesome to hear. Same, the 795 was weird at first but all of that weirdness is gone and it feels totally normal now. My friend has a 936 so we are gonna switch one of these sessions. Going from 72 to 79.5 was totally weird at first so I’m thinking the 935 will be even more awkward but maybe not. New stuff is so much fun to figure out and explore!

He Jeremy, great work on putting this review together. Love your work and know how much effort it is to do quality videos (was cool to see you had two cams going, was that gopros?). Keep up the great work. i have been riding lift gear but the performance masts and MA wings have frothing to get back onto Armie...such great gear that I have missed. Okay enough fluff :) Was keen to know what size armie board you were riding and perhaps i missed something but I was sure you were on the new mast also, how did you find that? Frothing to get back on to Armie gear and thanks heaps for your feedback.
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
What’s up bud! And thank you! Yup, I use 2 cams every session if possible, sometimes 3, depending on my setup, and all GoPros (10’s and 9’s). I ride a 75L FG board. If you haven’t ridden one, it kinda feels more like a 68L in my opinion. And yes, I switched to the 795 about a month ago and it’s been great. It was a little hard at first, I think mostly cause of the conditions and I was coming from a 72cm mast which I used 100% of the time, so the extra few inches were a little wonky at first to get used to. If you were coming for an 85cm I bet you’d feel no weirdness, unless your pitch control was off. The MA1000 is great and I’m stoked to have it in my quiver, and considering the 1225. I’ll try it first and see before I buy it. Y’all will totally hear about it :P don’t worry. Let me know if you have any other questions and if not, I wish you an awesome week!

@@OCEANBOUND1 sweet thanks for that. I had the 75L and was a great board and rode like a much smaller board. I am riding a 63L 4’8 now and have 4’4 52l which are great and pretty easy to get up on even for my 80 KGS. Got the 63l for lighter days but might go back to an armie board or two. Up to what winds do you ride the 75l in and what sinker board do you ride and is it full standing sink or just knee start? I ride my prone sometimes 37L but still knee start that one but need to to work on a standing start. Cheers mate and have a great week!
