AFRICAN TIGRESS

Күн бұрын

South Africa is the most Developed country in #Africa. Finally we are visiting this beautiful country. #CapeTown is the oldest and second largest city in #SouthAfrica, after Johannesburg, and also the seat of the Parliament of South Africa.Colloquially named the Mother City, it is the largest city of the Western Cape province and forms part of the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality. The Parliament of South Africa is situated in Cape Town. The other two capitals are located in Gauteng (Pretoria the executive capital where the Presidency is based) and in the Free State (Bloemfontein the judicial capital where the Supreme Court of Appeal is located). The city is known for its harbour, for its natural setting in the Cape Floristic Region, and for landmarks such as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Cape Town is home to 66% of the Western Cape's population. The city was named the World Design Capital for 2014 by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design. In 2014, Cape Town was named the best place in the world to visit by both The New York Times and The Daily Telegraph.Cape Town has also been a host city for both the 1995 Rugby World Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup, and annually hosts the Africa leg of the World Rugby 7s.Located on the shore of Table Bay, Cape Town, as the oldest urban area in the Western Cape, it was developed by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) as a supply station for Dutch ships sailing to East Africa, India, and the Far East. Jan van Riebeeck's arrival on 6 April 1652 established the VOC Cape Colony, the first permanent European settlement in South Africa. Cape Town outgrew its original purpose as the first European outpost at the Castle of Good Hope, becoming the economic and cultural hub of the Cape Colony. Until the Witwatersrand Gold Rush and the development of Johannesburg, Cape Town was the largest city in South Africa.

Love your content. Continue with your positive portrayal of Africa and its people because if we don't nobody will. Please don't make a mistake of delving into SA politics it's a minefield, ask Wode Maya and his side kick Miss Judy. South Africans will reward you generously with new subs and huge viewership if you respect them. I like your coverage of 🇿🇼 and 🇲🇼 and I'm waiting for the coverage of Mzansi before I subscribe and persuade other Sans to do so. By the way your president is here to cement relations with SA. The next step should be us the ordinary citizens that ensure that their ideas are realized. Thanks again for visiting our country and hope you enjoy your stay.

It will be very difficult for her to be objective. South Africa has a complex political system, which very few non South Africans can fully grasp. For obvious reasons, our political system transcends tribe as a first point of reference. As former lecturer I have seen the mistakes made by many African academics of equating SA politics with those of conventional African states and that is where they make a critical political blunder. There are striking similarities and there vast differences. Firstly, SA is multiracial and multi ethnic society where there is a plurality of dimetrically opposed interests. Secondly the structure of SA economy is more similar to the west where corporate shareholding is a norm, hence you will see most Africans mistakenly argue that black Sans play no significant role in the economy and that makes me to really really laugh. Third, SA is a highly industrialised and urbanised country on the continent. This brings with it advantages and disadvantages such unemployment, high crime rate, enequalities, environmental degradation, factories, new technologies, societal mobility and so on. For an example 71% of Sans live in peri urban and fully fledged urban areas, contrast that with most African countries where more than 80% of the population lives in rural areas and the state is a major source of employment and patronage. Politics becomes entirely a zero sum game and various ethnic groups constantly vie to capture the state and its machinery. It will be very difficult for African Tigress to make a nocontroversial comment without fully understanding the underlying dynamics that underpin the SA society, hence i cautioned her not to veer towards that direction. I like her she is doing a good job I hope she will understand my advice. You know Sans are very sensitive and they gaurd jealously the strides that have been made by the country thus far.

I read that "back in the day", a Cape Town newspaper claimed that the coastal city was the only city in the country, at that time, that could be referred to as a metropolis. "Metros" in Greek means "mother", and "polis" means "city", and so the term "Mother City" came about.
