NVDA: PE ratio dropped while share price was going up… because earnings were going up even faster Companies during recession: PE ratio often up even tho share price is down… because earnings are down even more

I like the fact that u emphasize on the followers count and likes on tiktok right at the start. In a subtle or inherent manner it creates a physiological analysis on the legitimacy of data shown there (not saying its bots or synthetic tiktok account creation)

I tend to use pe ratio on companies that analysts don't cover, I looked at past 10 years eps and whether the average of last 3 years is > average of first 3 years,also cash flow and asset to liabilities must increase over the years. Reading the annual reports during crisis also make sense since we know the outcome of the crisis but the management in that company doesn't

I think you are correct in your analysis, but not about value investing. I know the technical definition is low metrics like pe or pb, but I like Warren's and Charlie's definition. Value investing is getting more value than what you pay for 😊

I tink PE ratio can still be consider and use when comparing multiple companies in the same sector. This will help u determine the valuation between the companies and let us know which company is price at a lower valuation. 😊

Right but then you dig a little and find that the one with the higher valuation has a higher growth rate, the one with the lower valuation has a lower growth rate, and it’s unclear whether one is a better buy

Or you dig a little and find that the one with the lower PE ratio has a lot of debt relative to its earnings and it suddenly makes sense why people are less willing to pay much for shares if he company

Not all companies can be valued using P/E ratio. For example, cyclical companies using peaked with low pe, growth companies have low or negative earnings and hence dcf maybe better to value, assets heavy companies can be better off valuing via pb ratio as compared to historical pb, and mature companies with consistent earnings growth perhaps can be more effectively valued with P/E ratios.. etc etc.

With cyclicals just make sure you’re buying when everyone is saying that it’s a good company but now is definitely not the time to buy. That’s right around where the bottom will be.
