Oh same here. How did years ago now, but they were doesn’t doubt my favourite species of birds have as a little kid. Zebra Finches have got such a unique voice that really stands out from many other finches, canaries and budgies. Especially the males with their amazing mating call/tune. You’ll remember that tune forever. They are being species that needs protecting.

It is a juvenile zebra finch and that is their "learning the flock call" and "begging for food" noise! Zebra finches learn the flock call while still inside the egg, and start practicing it soon after being born :D

I had a baby finch fly in my room while trying to learn to fly. It didn't seem scared, and I couldn't get it to leave so it ended up spending the whole day hopping around my room before finally hopping back out my open window. The funny thing is it still comes and perches on my window sill when it's open. I think we're friends.

@@kittywizard7777 he was a cool bird. He loved apple and would hop right over to chew on a slice. Also spray millet and celery. He thought we were his mate and would invite us into his nest with his mating call. Alas, we were too large. He'd sit on our shoulder and pull at our hair, putting his foot on our neck for leverage. He'd also nest in our hair and ride around. He would sit on our fingers. A very special bird.

So, back in 2020, I found a baby bird who’d fallen out of its nest, and I couldn’t find where the nest was. It was a common brown sparrow chick. The little guy sat shivering in my hand, hardly any feathers yet but what was there felt like cotton wool. It was getting dark so I brought it in. That had been close to exam time and I was constantly in online classes, and the little birbo would sit in my left hand or on my pencil case, and had a tendency of chirping really loud just when I unmuted, though most of the time he was really quiet, but would constantly jump around and then just sleep for an hour or so. At night he’d cuddle up in his cloth next to my pillow on his own one. Once I was chatting with my friends on my phone instead of concentrating in class and when I set it down he sat on the phone and Left a package Watched him grow out his feathers Attempt to fly Fed him through a syringe every time he started screeching And he loved pets just above the beak I really miss him Twas the sweetest little guy

I used to have a hand tame baby like this, he got bullied critically by his siblings ( lost his ability to fly because of it ) so had to be seperated from the rest of the crew, so i kept him with me but within earshot of the flock so that he wouldn't be lonely. I wish finches could be more properly hand tamed like this without stressing them because it'd be awesome to have them free-flying and friendly! Cute video :D

Its body language shows it was happy. Birds lean their heads when being scratched to guide the finger to the right spot. It also would've simply moved away if the finger was unpleasant. It just wanted scratches :)
