Look up the Gold Prospectors association of America (the GPAA) on Google. They are a club organization headquartered in Temecula. Join the club and the local chapter. Buy a couple gold pans and go to one of their club outings. Have fun and learn to find some gold!

What clubs would you recommend I join in socal that have access to claims in randsburg
@ChrisRalph2 жыл бұрын
There are a number of clubs in Southern California, and I dont really keep track of all the clubs that have claims all over southern California. Here is my recommendation: The GPAA is having a gold show in Pomona at the county Fairplex on July 23 and 24th. Come to the show and all the clubs will have booths at the show. There, you can ask them in person about their claims and where they are located. I will also be there.

Acton was never a large producer - It had some mines that produced gold, but California has many districts - even in Southern California - that produced a lot more gold.

@@ChrisRalph well I think differently definitely other places produced far more gold gold was first discovered 15 mi from Acton in Santa Clarita before Sacramento and the 49ers the gold rush really started down here 1800s at the oak of the Golden dream. The governor mine produced quite a bit of gold 5 oz per ton that's what I get do you have the Red Rover mine the mount Gleason mind the eagle vein the Monte Cristo in about 80 mi from there in San Bernardino East fork were there still good placer gold today it might not have produced as much gold as other places in California but it sure pays the bills.

I’d add Mindat shows a gold occurrence in Orange County next to Trabuco Canyon, and I’ve personally taken a small amount of flake gold off of Ortega Highway in Orange County. Still living in Orange County myself .. the problem now is gas, in the mid 90’s I regularly went out to the El Paso range, and it cost me $20.00 to fill up my Jeep XJ .. and I usually went through about 2.5 tanks of gas per trip .. only to usually end up coming home skunked, now days 2022 with gas prices what they are it’s just not worth it anymore, I figured out for what it would cost me now in gas for just a couple of trips I can buy a nice thumbnail crystallized gold on quartz specimen from Kristalle. I swung my loops connected to my Goldmaster V-Sat all over the El Paso’s .. from Gohler to Last Chance to Bonanza Gulch and everywhere in between and have nothing to show for it but vials full of birdshot, wire bits, boot tacks, tiny pieces of rusted cans, etc., you can only get skunked for so long till it just ain’t fun anymore. I finally said screw this, packed my XJ with my detector rig and sluices, and headed up to my brothers in Folsom, I used his house as a base and went up to the old hydraulic pits above Nevada City .. and started actually finding real nuggets .. now that gets you excited! Anyway great video, really brings back memories 👍

chris have ypu seen tjis. All mining operations (location of mining claims, prospecting, and mining, including panning, sluicing, and dredging) under the 1872 Mining Law are prohibited within withdrawn areas of the Angeles National Forest. Public Law No. 578 (1928 withdrawal) withdrew areas from entry and location under the mining laws. There is no provision in PL 578 which provides for even a limited right to enter the withdrawn lands to prospect. Therefore, National Forest System lands within the East Fork of the San Gabriel River are not open to prospecting or any other mining operations.
@ChrisRalph Жыл бұрын
Back in the day the east fork was still open. The government of the socialist republic of California asked the feds to shut it down. There are parts of the Angeles National Forest which are not withdrawn.

@@comptongoldminer I go up by the Monte Cristo campground in the Mill Creek area. It’s a hard rock mining area but you can find and get into some mines like the Black Cargo and the Lucky Strike. Be careful, these mines are old and dangerous. I have a patented mine in the area (private property). I’ve spent 3 years clearing the adits and will soon start re-timbering. There are no nuggets in my mine, only fine gold. Metal detectors don’t find anything. East Fork is known for nuggets but I do not know how strictly the National Monument laws are enforced.
