I have always loved how this incredible team of animators manages to exactly capture all the nuances of cat movements and behavior! And an extra kudo to the Foley people! Ah, so that's why despite how much the Kitten annoys the Cat, the Cat will never get rid of him. He brought the Kitten home himself. He adopted him before Simon did.

@catscan2022 It's been ages since I've seen or read anything related to Garfield, but from my vague recollection, Garfield hated Nermal simply because Nermal was cuter and more well-liked than him. I believe Nermal was also a tad arrogant because of that, if I recall. They're also not related. Nermal's just another cat that I believe belongs to one of the neighboring houses. Again though, this is me trying to remember from probably over 20 years ago, plus occasional Garfield references I've seen here and there in other cartoons and such. I could be completely misremembering.

I always thought he didn't like the kitten. I mean, remember their first episode together? And besides, what about that time he put the little guy in Simon's suitcase? And now I'm finding out Simon's cat is the one who invited the kitten to stay in the first place? This isn't the Simon's Cat I know.

@@elisaastorino2881 I haven't read the book, but maybe it's simply a case of Simon (the writer, not the character) coming up with a different origin story after the fact that he likes more, or just thought would be fun to explore. Either way, continuity hardly matters with something like this.

All along I thought it was Simon who adopted the Kitten, but no. The Cat turned out to have found him first. You can really see the Cat acting a lot like a Father in this video, which is cute. Feeding the Kitten and trying to teach it to use the litter box, while trying to hide him from Simon.

That’s how it was when I adopted Elsa. My oldest cat, Figaro, cuddled with her, groomed her, and even attempted to carry her one time. It was the sweetest thing I ever saw ❤😊

My sister brought home a ginger tom kitten back in the 80's. When we put him on the litter, he would just sit there and eat it. So we had to use shredded up newspaper instead. LOL.

It was clean, they tried different litter (it was his cat in college, ultimately had to give to his mom☹️). Unfortunately, that cat just was terrible. Wasn't a companion, just a burden 😔 Not saying cats suck, just that one.

@@gohawks3571 That's sad. This particular cat doesn't do this all the time, just sometimes. Although she does have a bad habit of peeing outside the litter box. And unfortunately she doesn't just limit this to the floor.... She does it on furniture too. We're not exactly sure why she does it. She just does it. I know, sometimes cats will do this because they have a medical problem. And they're trying to tell you about it, but there doesn't seem to really be anything wrong with her. We think she just might have a few screws loose.

@@SirSonic900 No, I get you. I guess it was before I was around (IDK, maybe I did meet him before he was put down - was old). I think that particular cat was just nuts. Was never nice. My MIL, on the other hand, is super sweet and amazing. She just dealt with that cat until it was time to put it down.

So we discover that Simon's cat has known how to get the cat food and fill the dishes himself, yet he takes pleasure in making Simon do it. Also, the way he potty trained kitten was just what Simon did for him. Adorable!

My parents used to have a neighbor with a very cool cat named Charlie. He would spend most of his time in different neighbors' homes. He brought home not one but two different kittens he had found at different times. they became best friends, but the kittens remained wild. They were only close to Charlie.

I have two orange ones (brother and sister) that are barely a year old in Germany - I took them over when they were 6 months old and Mama cat was no longer willing to feed them. So far they have been good and lovely friends. They can also go out but they know for sure where their food truck (me) is. Only trouble is when I travel. Then I always need friends to feed them and clean the toilet. Luckily I know people who do that. Of course I also had them neutered, chipped and registered. It's always sad when a cat disappears just randomly, that happened to my last (inherited) cat and I was very sad for quite some time.

Well this kinda negates Kitten's first appearance, which is a shame because that's my favorite Simon's Cat video. 😔 I liked the realism of Cat not liking the kitten at first but eventually bonding with him.
