I have no regret spending my time with you and our little family. I could have had a career for myself, but I will always choose you and Chloe/Totoy and now Leana too. I will always choose to watch movies, sports and talk about life with you. Not everyone is the same, we are blessed to have an option of not working and still live a decent life. And I thank God everyday for the life that we have. I know how blessed I am. ❤

Willing the good in others is the definition of love. Therein lies, not mere "contentment," but joy, because we are in conformity with the Divine will. Your idea of doing with less is a wonderful start. "Give what thou has to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven. You're not far from Heaven.

I'm so happy to know your cancer is in remission. I had a scare back in 2015, couldn't get my breath after walking a city block or so. went to the doctor, and at the doctor, I was told I was having an attack at that time, according to the ekg he did. I was immediately sent to the hospital and the next day, I had 3 stents put in around my heart to help me. Ever since then, I exercise, walk, and try to eat healthy (try but not always successful, lol). I agree, dodging a bullet, cancer or heart issues, is an eye awakener. makes you appreciate life so much more. I spend most of my time with my grandkids and my son. I'll be moving to Iloilo this november, with the encouragement of my son and his filipina wife. they too want to come to the philippines, just waiting on the older kids to graduate high school, then they'll make the move. Lately, I don't walk, even in the morning, its over 90 at 630am here in texas. so I go to the gym and use the treadmill. then I work on my arms, which I blew out my rotor cuff years ago and my right arm is limited in movement. sucks getting old, lol. I'll see you on the flip side.

Thank you my friend. Our experience that we went through, changed us forever. We have gotten a second chance. We value our loved ones and health more than anything now. Exercise and eating right was always a priority for me; but more so now. There is not a day that goes by that I don't exercise and work on my mobility. Cancer survivors will tell you; our body functions are just not quite the same after treatments. It's daily work for me; to get back to normal. We definitely have to get together when you get to Iloilo City. Maybe, walk together at the Esplanade. We enjoy going to Iloilo City. It is one of our happy place. Take care my friend. See you on the flip side.

I found out too late in life that there are two types of retirement. Those with pensions and healthcare versus those that have to work until their 62 for early ss and 65 for Medicare. I can not imagine the peace of mind that comes from a pension after 20 years and the free or cheap healthcare. I had to work at a big box store for a few years for the healthcare, it was a horrible place to work. I tell young people to get a job with the federal government, they look at me like I am crazy. I tell them they don’t want to be an old man working a crap job for the healthcare
@dazeltv13512 ай бұрын
One of the best decisions in my life was joining the United States Air Force at 17. And then serving for 20 years to receive a pension at 37. I am so grateful for the life that the military provided for me. I would advise young people the same; work for the federal government to get a pension someday. It is such a peace of mind knowing that no matter what happens, you have a pension coming in every month. And having medical insurance in the Philippines is such a blessing. Take care my friend.

Well said Dazel, especially on the pursuit of rank and that perception if an airman does not do it, they are slug of some sort. I did 30 years and made it to Chief. I do not miss EPRS and Annual/Quarterly packages, LOL! 😆 Looking back, it was very stressful and also we were all very underpaid. Today, thankful for the benefits we/I have and hope to keep as with this toxic political climate we live who knows what could happen. Anyway, my beautiful Filipina Ghen and I have 5 weeks left here in the US before the big move to the Philippines. Contentment and balance of life as well as daily walks like you do, we cannot wait. There is a trap within contentment, and that is what limits personal growth. You have to keep in mind that you also want to become a better version of yourself. For example, when your body took the toll from chemotherapy for your cancer, you have to exercise to recover or else you will remain at your weakened state if you stayed content. There has to be a motivation that helps you get up everyday, something to look forward to. It’s all about balance. People who pursue those items that you mentioned will not find happiness in those items, but it gives them a purpose of something to pursue. People who are just content of the state they are in, will remain stagnant, unchanged and unmotivated. That’s just my two cents in this topic.
@dazeltv13512 ай бұрын
Exercise was always important to me; but more so now. There is not a day now that goes by that I don't do a workout. Cancer survivors will tell you it's a daily grind. It's taken a lot of work just to get to the point where I can run 3 kilometers. I have to be careful with overdoing it though; energy comes and goes now. But, really happy with my progress. We are all different. We all have to find what works for us. In my 13 years in the Philippines, I have never felt stagnant, unchanged, and unmotivated. It's been a constant learning experience for me. I found my happiness when I was not chasing material things anymore.

@@walter.s8145 We bought our 2019 Toyota Wigo automatic for 620k pesos (around $11k) cash. The cars here in the Philippines tend to hold their value well compared to the U.S. I could probably still get at least 400k pesos ($7k) for our 2019 Toyota Wigo automatic today.
