I am 75 years young and adopted a miniature poodle puppy at 2-1/2 months old …..the Best decision ever as I’m no longer lonely and am so enjoying her every day! Thanks for sharing your story. I lost my husband of 46 years in 2021.

Congratulations for your decision. They bring us such a joy. After my last dog Pantufa departed, the pain was so profound that I said to my self never, never again. Five months passed and one of my nieces brought me a little, little white puppy. I was in my 70s and I couldn’t help but think about the consequences of adopting such a tiny puppy. The peeing around the house, having to educate him not to chew carpets, shoes, all the work that a baby dog requires. But he looked at me with his bright eyes and I couldn’t say no. But God was good to me because I never had a dog so clean and so polite. Even though he was so little, two months or so, he never did anything wrong, it seemed like he already knew everything. He runed to the wipes and relieved himself there. He never chewed anything. He is five years old now and he is a blessing in my life. He is my shadow and my only companion. And I love him so much.

I just found your channel. I just turned 51 I haven't had any family My grandmother died when i was young and my mom was only able to be there for me for a few years as a baby up until 5th grade brcause she struggled with trauma and mental illness stemming from an abusive childhood. She did the best she could. I enjoy listening to you. You're someone i wish was my neighbor, and i could have over for coffee or have lunch with :) You talk about a lot of things i wish my friends knew and talked about. Im alone a lot because i dont have the finances to go out. I've been single for 8 years now Im happy to see how you're living your life. It's very encouraging. Thank you
@babygrizwold7 ай бұрын
I'm 53 and I'm in a position close to yours but different. I have a pretty big family with five siblings but we are pretty dysfunctional. I'm not really close with my mother even though I do see her from time to time, I'm not close with any of my sisters only one pretty much. But we don't go out we don't do anything we just kind of text back and forth and that's about it at each other's houses and we live in the same town I have a sister that lives three doors from me and I barely speak to her. We are just not close. I can understand the feeling of loneliness when you don't have anybody. Even though you are alone physically you really aren't alone😊
@lilajtblue7 ай бұрын
Wow, it's unfortunate that my relationships with relatives is as yours. I haven't spoken to my mom in 3yrs, I have 2 sisters. One that calls me maybe twice a month but has bipolar depression and other sister I don't speak with or text. We're strangers. 😢I'm the middle sibling and 64yrs old this October. I'm a grandmother and great grandmother. My only child has nothing to do with me. Bc of my narcissistic mom. I spend 24/7 alone. Days run together. I will be next week seeing a new PT, physical therapist. Broken my wrist last December 2023.😢 It is so hard to stay positive in life. After my fingers start moving again, I've got to get moving physically again. Dancing, line dancing. BTW way also divorced and single 8yrs. Not at all I thought I would be experiencing. But that's life. I'm from Louisiana.
@lilajtblue7 ай бұрын
My relationship with family is the same for me. My only happiness is my grandchildren and great grandson's. I do get to see them twice a month. They work and my DIL babysits her grandchildren, my great grandchildren. I live about 300 yards from her. But our homes are positioned in a way we cannot see each other which is okay for me. I'm 64 in October 2024. I was a teenager having a baby. Mom wanted me to abort him. But I was so angry 😠 I wanted to be on birth control, but she wouldn't have it. Then I got pregnant. She wasn't around, she left us girls with our alcoholic father who either was past out or gone. Sadly she's been disrespectful ever since. I have 2 kitties that love me and I get lots of love from ❤. I get cabin fever. So I visit my Aunt which is 91. Amazing woman.

As someone who has adopted 16 dogs over 49 years, seeing them all through their lives, I thank you for your heart Sandra. 10 months ago I lost my 'final' dog, my 6th Great Pyrenees, and at 69 and not that well, I wasn't going to adopt another dog. 3 months later on Kijiji, I saw a litter of Great Pyrenees pups who needed help and long story short, I adopted one. He has been such a challenge, mainly because for the first time in 8 years with a pup, I am not healthy, plus these pups gain 10lbs/month and now he's 11 months and 100 pounds but still a puppy. He's a handful!!! But after years of laughing much less than usual, his antics find me belly-laughing. I kiss him and hug him. I no longer live alone. The challenge is huge given his size and exhuberance, but I, too, am in love again. So I really related to what you have shared with us today. God Bless! And congratulations on finding a new love Sandra.

A week ago I just put my dog of 11 years down due to his illness. I never realized I would be so heartbroke the loss of a dog. Oh, how wonderful this is! I had a similar experience, twice! Both puppies came to me at sad times. The first was when my house felt so empty after my husband had to go into a nursing home. And a few years after that, my stepdaughter was dying of an incurable disease and I felt so depressed. A few days before she died, my daughter and I saw a little puppy running through traffic on a busy Houston thoroughfare. We were able to save her and she brought so much joy into my life during this dark time. Since then my husband has also passed away and these two little dogs have kept me going strong! I walk with them every day, meet people on my walks, and enjoy their company every day! I know exactly how you felt when you looked at that little dog's face. It happened to me as well!!! ❤🎉

I'm very happy for you. Chewing is necessary for their teeth. Just like babies like to chew on things when their teeth come in. It's natural and important. I put together a little basket close to the floor filled with the safe things our puppies could chew. This really helps. Another thing I did was hang a bell on a string on my door knob and the puppy learns to ring the bell when he wants to go outside. Having learned these tricks from other puppy parents, I've found them to be incredibly helpful. Congratulations on your new love.
