Join Ron West as he shares his experience of being bullied and the positive outcomes which resulted. Incredible story!
Ron J West is passionate about changing the world one company at a time by helping leaders change and grow. After all, the instructions on how to get out of the box we put ourselves in, are carefully printed on the outside of the box. His latest book Corporate Caterpillars - How to Grow Wings is a blueprint for corporate transformation. He moved to Austin recently to launch his executive coaching, consulting and speaking business. When he’s not busy changing the world, he can be found perfecting his Argentine Tango.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

If you could give away a courage for someone, you will have more for yourself , if you could uncourage for someone else you will find more for yourself 👏👏

Inspirational and so very true! “I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what. - Atticus Finch” ― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

Excellent talk! Quite enlightening. Instead of focusing fully on how to gain courage for yourself, encourage someone else which in turn will give you courage! (From a girl who was the smallest in her year and felt inferior and was bullied at a school in Bournemouth!)

I appreciate your perspective - being one's self is what life is all about! I actually define who I am in the last video on my channel - I encourage everyone to do something similar: Define WHO YOU ARE, and then stay committed to stay true to yourself no matter what.

I found that I could relate with helping others but getting helped in the process. Im a coach and sometimes find myself coaching others on what I'm battling with which in turn is a self coaching session.

There is no need for anything like an armour, action or courage etc to be yourself. Simply question & challenge the idea you hold which states “it matters what others think of me”. Then it also wouldn’t matter if there are people you werent able to motivate to be courageous. Because Ron’s idea still makes you dependent on how others react to that which youre offering. Stop that dependency by questioning it, not by fueling it. Peace.

idk why i act different with different people I am my real self in front of my mom dad and sis. because its the way they accept me always and love me they don't question me why i am like that etc etc , but in school i talk with many people but i can't be the same with everyone or even with my cousins. probably because i am shy, or i can't communicate properly so i just force myself to do it. i realised this recently, even if i want to change myself now and I cant be myself , i cant maybe as people are used to seeing me like that, everyone will find it unusual. What should i do?

i'm not agreeing with his message. If you are fully yourself, focus on yourself, have a positive energy around you, you uplift other automatically. Don't 'try' to encourage someone. Everyone needs to do that for themselve! My opinion.

Mike T You're right that courage actually comes from within. His message is about being a source of encouragement to others rather than actually 'trying' to encourage someone. Be the angel you'd wish you had at the time of crisis for someone else, and that'll give you courage for your own. Have a nice day!
