Finding the equation of a circle given two points

​@alvokamau5868 this goes into super advanced math already, but for basic math, we are taught that we can only find the eqn of the circle only if the points lie on its circumference, so we can derive its specific x and y, then radius²

nonethless a question should state that they lie on the circumference of the circle, and that can infer that they definitely pass through the center, which the eqn can actually be applied, if not it is a poorly worded qn

yeah, it was not stated if the points were the endpoints of the diameter. how could we know if that points were passing through the center. there's a possibility that it's not the diameter.

It’s possible. Find the normal of the tangent of 2 points and equate them. Let’s say the 2 points given are x1,y1 and x2,y2 Find eqn of line of tangent of circle at x1,y1 (do the same for x2,y2) Find the normal line equal of those two tangent line equations Substitute them into each other We will get x cord of centre! Of course p, this can only be done if they give you eqn of tangent of the 2 points

Can't you find the tangent using both points though? You can find the equation of the line with 2 points, then you can take the tangent from there and just -1÷tangent to get tangent of the normal
