‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣ THIS EPISODE ‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣‣
If you have been following us for a while, you know that we have visited Mount Rushmore twice before this trip, but our reason for coming back to this very special place in South Dakota was to share the experience of seeing the faces carved on the side of this mountain in the Black Hills with Jess’ mom and step-dad while they were on their first big RV trip across the country!
This entire journey for our family began after we lost Jess’ dad, so seeing her mom’s life come full circle and being able to share these incredible experiences and places with her was indescribable.
The first time we visited Mount Rushmore, we had the rig with us and spent just the evening checking out the sculpture and the night lighting ceremony. The 2nd time we visited the monument, we stayed in Custer State Park. For this trip, we decided to stay in the cute little town of Keystone at the only RV park with a view of Rushmore, very aptly named Mount Rushmore View!
It was the perfect location for all of our adventures with Jess’ parents and some of their friends who were in town for Bike Week in Sturgis. We got to check out Mount Rushmore including the new Visitor Center that was recently finished and the hike around the Presidential Loop. TIP: Be sure to hike the loop clockwise. You’ll have less stairs to climb!
We headed out to Sylvan Lake and the Needles Highway which we had never done before, because it was closed the last time we were in the area. It is tight, but you can drive a dually through all the tunnels on Needles! We couldn’t wait to take Jess' parents up to the top of Iron Mountain which has one of our favorite views of Mount Rushmore.
After flying around the pigtails (literally what the spirals in the road are called), we headed back to Keystone for some dinner and a walk around the town before heading back up to Rushmore for the night lighting ceremony.
For those who have never been, please make it a priority. As beautiful as the magnificent faces are when they are lit up against the dark night sky, there is nothing more touching than all of the veterans and active duty military walking up on the stage and being honored for their service to their country. Corey has had the privilege of standing with these other amazing men and women twice now, and we are all moved to tears each time. 🇺🇸
Stay tuned for next week as we stay at an extraterrestrial location that has been on Corey’s list for a long time! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new video!
Don’t wait to live your life, find your 🔆SOMEDAY🔆 now!

South Dakota holds so very very much that is worthy of visiting. I went for the first time in June 2023. There are sights and experiences I didn’t have time to enjoy, but what I did, I did well. I remembered the whole time I was there your advice that I shouldn’t stress over not being able to do everything. Instead, I departed SD feeling like my time was truly well used. I camped in Custer State Park and I think it must surely be the most beautiful State Parks in all of the USA. I LOVED it!!!

This has feel good written all over it. Getting to introduce your family to a National Treasure that you can't wait to see again and again. I'm not sure there is a better feeling than seeing your girls show their Grandparent's places that you have shown them. Pride for Corey and yourselves getting to participate in the ceremony again. Never gets old. ❤

My best days were on a Harley and Sturgis when I was a young pup all of 18 years old was the most fun I've ever had. I was in the first month of pregnancy with my now 43 year old son and knew it so just being around the rolling thunder must have been made a part of him because that's what he wants to do next year, Sturgis. I do miss the thunder they make though. Family road trip for sure.
