We went here 2 years ago We camped in the Devils tower campground and we were right at the base of it in our camp next to the prairie dog town We had a perfect view of it right out of our dining window We also went on the trail all the way around The Indians have hung prayer sacks in the trees along the trail It was such a sacred feeling being there

Ok. So I went in June of this year. Got into my campsite, drove the truck up to Devils Tower, hiked around, took lots of photos, got a t-shirt and hiking pole medallion and drove back to my site just in time for the deluge of all deluges to begin. I’d hoped to go back to the Tower the next day, but it rained all day, was misty and foggy and made things super soupy outside. I stayed inside almost all day and, honestly, it was awesome! Turns out I needed a day to rest. My photos may not be as full of Milky Way as yours, but isn’t it great that a photograph really does speak volumes to the person who took it? I look back at my images and I remember exactly where I stood, how I setup the shot and what it felt like to see the size, texture and … weirdness of Devils Tower. It is so excellent. Im glad you got both your Milky Way shot and your donut sunrise. 😁😁👏👏

We went to devils tower, on our way back to the PNW, from a family reunion, at The Palmer Gulch, KOA. At Mt Rushmore. It’s funny that we did our trip in 1999, and they Still are showing Close Encounters. I wonder how many DVDs of the movie they have blown thru all these years.😅 we love your videos. Keep up the great trips. We will miss you off the road now. We were hoping to run into you somewhere. But we understand.

Yay!!! Glad you got a few shots of the prairie dogs. We were at Devils tower almost a year ago today, so October 2022. We had finished a job filming in Deadwood for a client, and stopped at the tower on the way out. We stayed at the KOA but since it was October, there was our camper and 3 others. However because it was so empty it made the trip to the tower just amazing. To walk alone through all of the prayer ribbons was a spiritual moment. The place really was amazing. We also go out of there just in time, as it was staring to snow as we were hooking up. Great video guys, it brought back some fun memories.

Always great photography! Thanks for showing the hike around Devil's Tower. I was there last summer, but it was 100 degrees. Way too hot for hiking. I thought the whole area around Sundance and Devil's Tower WY was gorgeous. I camped at Routte Campground for 4 days. First time I ever had Black Angus wander through a NF campground! It was so weird because there were no other animals or birds. Not even a chipmonk or a crow. Nothing at all. The aliens must have got them all!

The one day that we were able to spend at Devil's Tower was the one day that summer that it was socked in by fog. As we were walking around it, some guy coming the other way said it was clear on the other side, so we practically ran around it only to find he was full of it. 😂 We're definitely going back again.

Next time stay at Belle Fourche River Campground there in the park. You can hike from the campground, past the Wind Circle sculpture, through the prairie dog town, across the highway and up the side of the mountain to the "outer" loop trail then to the parking lot area for the main trail you did. It's nice hike with about 650ft of elevation change. If you want more than the paved walk around the Tower, there are more primitive trails to enjoy with some amazing views.

We’re planning on going back there & hopefully stay at that campground. We only went to the trading post when we popped by in 2016. It was so cool seeing the highway we traveled on! BTW porcupines do climb trees…they’re huge! When we lived in the country we came home from church and found one in our crabapple tree munching away. I was so that the deer hung around while humans were nearby. We have deer in our city (we have a provincial park within our city limits) and they run when they see humans!

East of Devils Tower, (few miles) is a place called Stone House. Good Burgers (well decent) but a very popular stop. Only open during rally though. Vanocker Canyon also a nice ride/drive. Also west of Rapid, but very close is Dinosaur Park.
