Full Spoilers ahead. After a lot of you told me to watch Loki in spite of the MCU's consistent failings... I did. Did it suck? Or was Loki season 2 just as good as some of the best of the MCU? Was it a satisfying conclusion to the god of stories?
I talk about the failing of the Marvels vs Loki Season 2, and why one is what the future of the franchise must be.

I think it was a good move to not focus on romantic love in season 2. Loki’s learning to love and care for people was wider than that.

@@teraxe Which is shame, because she was important to the story and we are dealing with multiverse and a norse god that took all kind of shapes, including opposite gender. There are aslo different versions of female Loki in the comics. I really dislike this fake outrage. We got way past simple crritique into a realm of grifting. This channel is an exception obviously and I can't be more happy those still exist, but it's a dying bred that still values honesty.

@@maiku5723 it is totally in character tho.. Kang created the sacred timeline by deleting his variants, its understandable he expected Loki to do the same. "i made the hard decision, that is why i got the big chair" . also Kang didn't do any manipulation, he didn't even tried to save himself... he presented them a trolley problem - keep the sacred timeline but keep pruning or choose the multiverse and risk it with total assured destruction. Sylvie action is wrong, you cant defeat Kang by killing him. Kang literally said that if the authority got overthrown, someone will take its place.. and other Kang wont be as nice as HWR. she just dead set on killing Kang, that is why at the end of the day Kang made Loki choose to Kill Sylvie... let think this way, if Kang wanted to save himself then he would manipulate Sylvie instead of Loki... Kang didn't want to save himself... *he wanted to be proven right* , he wanted to show that his ideology is the correct one.. this is why i think the end of Loki is amazing, Loki didn't defeat Kang by fighting him, he defeated him by doing the exact thing that Kang did - became the He Who Remains, holding everything at the end of time, but this time with the other side of the trolley problem. I think this is the ultimate redemption, Loki started his journey with the same mindset as Kang - that he was the chosen one, he had a glorious purpose, he is a god that is above everybody, that a weaker being should follow the strong- In a way Loki fought against Kang is the same as him fighting the prefect version of his old-self and now he choose to be selfless and sacrifice himself for others... i truly believe that this is the prefect end for Loki

If the Groundhog's Day looping had successfully repaired the Loom this episode would have been the most Whovian Who that ever Who-ed. When Loki was running around tapping buttons and spouting techno-babble at a mile a minute, the only thought on my mind was "He's the Doctor. I am literally just watching the Doctor now." But then the show said "Absolutely not. You are watching the origin story of a NORSE GOD" and chucked all the machinery into space to plant the roots of Yggdrasil.

Season 2 might just be the best thing to come out of the Multiverse Saga! The acting, the VFX, the action sequences, the consistent character writing! My only complaint is that I would've wanted to see his variants again. Especially Kid Loki since every single member of the Young Avengers are all introduced! Also, Loki and What If make me wonder what other alternate reality spinoffs we could get from different franchises!

lol no, the whole reason why there inconsistent character writing is because of the multiverse. writer dont know how the character is going to be in future movie. so their growth is not "permanent". and why loki character writing consistent (relatively) is because they dont need to care how it will fit into future movie. God loki and tva is out of (main) universe and time. they wont play any role in any conflict due to how op they are. loki can stop time and redo everything whenever without any limitation at all.

Awkward to be around, struggling to have a conversation that doesn't end in an argument, it was to me a very natural subversion of my expectations, and really fit in with the tone and theme Season 2, longing for the former days, wishing we could go back. How sure are you on the Kang being defeated? I remember a vocal writer for quantumania who was fired from Kang dynasty for being so open about how he wanted the movie to be (light hearted, comedy). It honestly feels like they are giving lots of creative freedom to the writers and directors. Look at shows and movies like secret invasion, the Marvels, Moon Knight, Wandavision, she hulk, Thor Love and thunder... All have distinct styles and with confirmation of the commentary from the directors, they got to explore their vision of the characters as either stupid and pandering or well written and performed in the final product with marvel just kind of letting the failure happen.

I think the best part about Loki is when you realize by saving the multiverse Loki isn't just saving his friends at the TVA, but he is infact saving everyone he's ever loved or cared for, including Thor. More than just ensuring their lives will go on, Loki is ensuring they would've ever existed in the first place, if Loki hadn't saved the multiverse, not only would everyone he loved be dead, but Thor, Odin, Frigga, would have never existed in the first place since there would've been no realities for them to exist within. Loki didn't just save his new friends, he saved all those he ever cared for, past, present, and future.

im so thankful they dropped the romance between Sylvie and Loki. at the end of episode 2 of S2, i think he has a realization, and just lets Sylvie go, and moves on from that. and im happy about it. sure, i guess Loki can fall in love with someone. but more importantly, he needs friends. he needs people to love and care for, but not romantically. which is why i thought Mobius's and Loki's little friendship was so sweet, same with his other friends. Mobius saw something in him that no one else did. he gave him the chance to be a good person. and it really worked out. honestly, the entire concept of this show, like the TVA, and every single character in it, i just absolutely love. the writers, composers, actors, just everyone, did an amazing job. in my opinion, LOKI is the best thing since Endgame, and no one can change my mind otherwise

Whilst there were a couple of episodes that did nothing to move the plot forward. I feel Loki S2 was some of the best MCU since Endgame. It's finale was great, but shows that the series as a whole should have been at this level. But I believe that the fact has been that most MCU entries since Endgame have been subpar. But I also have to note that there has been interference from Marvel executives. I saw a pirated version of The Marvel's. My god did that suck more than a Dyson. The only thing that was remotely decent was Ms Marvel, her family and the cats.

I instantly thought of Doctor Who and this channel when the final episode hit, Loki's final adventure was the most Doctor Who thing ever and I absolutely loved it. But unlike Doctor Who, since Loki is a serialized miniseries, it could jump around the timeline of the entire show rather than the kind of isolated timey-wimey scenario you'd see in something like Heaven Sent or Big Bang/Pandorica Opens. As for the MCU as a whole, if there is a "problem" with it right now it is just that there is too much of it. Avengers 4 felt like a proper ending for a lot of people and there is no gimmick that will make people care about the MCU as a collective thing again like we did before 2019. The initial Disney+ shows benefited from the fact that the world went a FULL YEAR WITH ZERO MCU CONTENT. And I think in the short term, that is the only thing that could make people stop saying the MCU is in a slump. Marvel didn't release anything for a while people would be starved for content instead of complaining about it.

When it comes to the doctor who, thing I agree with you. But it comes to the other Marvel stuff, I don't. For me, Marvel's primary problem is just a lack of quality control. Same thing for Star Wars. @TheJadedJames
@TheJadedJames 5 ай бұрын
@@williamburnett3660 I think if you cut the amount of Marvel/Star Wars shows in half the perception of their quality would increase with no actual changes to the content. This is especially true for the MCU. So many MCU shows drop on Disney+ that you can feel caught up with the movies without ever going to the theater. But what if we only got a max of two each year rather than them being churned out to keep people subscribed.

If they do a Thor and Loki movie, I really want to see them finally commit to a more mythic, bloody, old-Norse aesthetic and world. Jason Aaron’s God of Thunder worked so well (so much better than a lot of his later work, even) because it so adeptly conveyed the titanic scale and poetic world of these characters. Virtually all of our sources on the Norse gods are poetry and they really do have a lot of beautiful material to mine for these characters.

I understand that with the passing of the more popular heroes the "problems" that this kind of movies have stand out more but it's not like these problems never existed. Sure, there were some movies that could be considered really good outside of the genre but the same could be said for some of the phase 4 and 5 content only, somehow, these good shows or movies are considered now the exception. For me Loki and The Marvels (or Love & Thunder, since I've watched it) are equa parts of the same universe, if you want the good one you'll have to have the bad one too. Is that a bad deal? As long as the bad is entertaining enough and not corrupting our minds no, that's a good deal!

Love what you said about the Time Loom. For me, the Time Loom started out as a kind of meaningless challenge... but by the time I saw that last show, it was kind of great. It helped once I understood that the Time Loom was a giant meat grinder.

With all the Doctor Who commentary here I do feel its worth mentioning that Loki s1 director Kate Herron has been scooped up to be writing an episode of the upcoming DW season, so definitely on the same page with the similar vibes between the shows.

I finally got around to watching Season 2 of Loki after giving myself a Marvel break for about a year, and I'm glad I did, some of the best work in the whole franchise and gives an original MCU character get a worthwhile conclusion. However I did feel a lot of Who in Season 2 as you implied yourself.

Loki is the only MCU story worth watching after Endgame since it perfectly ties to the Infinity Saga and now the Multiversal Saga. Overall, Loki, Mobius, and Ouroborus are the MVPs of the Loki show because of how fun, funny, and interesting they are as characters.

Years ago, when I read the Esad Ribic Thor comics, I really wanted to see something akin to them realized cinematically, unfortunately the fourth thor movie by taika which was heavily influenced by those comics, at least on the surface, failed at(or rather did not even attempt)recreating even a fraction of their atmosphere or tone, instead that property was sadly wasted on a junk comedy. But I think the last episode of loki came close to capturing that strange eerie folkloric scope in a classic sci-fi setting. it was surprisingly touching and melancholic without feeling cold or unfulfilling, which can often happen in stories dealing with time travel or free will or other head scratcher themes. The project felt like it was handled with care and effort. thumbs up from me

I ended up binging season 2 of loki, after not really being happy with Disney and the way they treated animators, and not really gelling with the tv shows. It was last Sunday, I was bored and thought "I'll try one episode" and ended up emotionally destroyed by the end of the day. At first some of the science with the loom didn't feel super well explained but the characters and chemistry carried me through to episode 4 and jsut wow. Ten years with this character, and I forgot that Tom Hiddleston actually helped produced the show, and I can't but help feel that's why it worked so well. He understood the character and put that connection back to Avengers, and Thor like UGHHHH. He finally got the throne he wanted but had to face with his ultimate fear

Honestly if they had leaned into more of Loki's actual relationships instead of just the new ones in the show I would've enjoyed it way more. Let him get closure with his father and brother, this is a Loki who is JUST recovering from being manipulated by an infinity stone and learning his whole life and everything his father told him was a lie. let him have a tearful reunion with thor and apologize for everything. Let him see Odin and have Odin tell him some of what he said in Ragnarok, tell him he was a true Asgardian and Odinson, tell him that he doesn't need to be defined by what he once was. Have Odin tell him what a lie really is. Tell him that the god of mischief is free to break free from the chains the universe is putting on him That legitimately would've made me love the series way more. I enjoy tom hiddleston, but it's not really "Loki" we see in this show, it's "original godlike character who is humbled #6," and it doesnt even seem interested in exploring his roots.

@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 I also completely agree with this, BUT I think they'll save the Odinson family arc for the films. There's no way we're not getting a Loki / Thor reunion at some point. But I do agree - I loved how Loki's family dynamics tied in with Season 1 Episode 1, and would have been nice to have a few more nods to it, although there were a few sprinkled throughout the series.

Loki especially season 2 was amazing in my opinion. We got to see something that never happened in either of the films Loki has been in,actual growth of his character. And we now understand why he didn't change all this time,it was because he wasn't allowed/meant to.We saw Loki in a new light, making the ultimate sacrifice for everyone,so they could live their lives, breeding life into every other timeline etc. In my opinion Thor the Dark World and this series are the best showings of Loki as a character. In the film we get to see how much he actually cared about and loved his mother and in the series we get to see him first watching it all transpire, his mother's death, his father's and brother's love for him,his own death. His growth began from Ep 1 of Season 1 and I was glued to my monitor. Great work from everyone involved in this series.

5:20 that quote, that desire from the writer to the develop characters is what makes great movies for me. It's why Iron Man, Captain America and Thor are the holy trinity of the Infinity saga, it's why Loki is the shining light from Thor 2011 to this post Endgame mess. Loki is the stand out alongside the Guardians of the galaxy. When characters are prioritised over spectacle and money we get Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, the Gaurdians of the Galaxy trilogy, (Shang Chi an honourable mention post endgame of a great movie for me), Tobeys Spiderman, James Gunns Suicide Squad, The Batman and The Dark Knight Trilogy. When movies are rushed and micro managed for studio interests we get Josstice League, Captain Marvel, She Hulk, Suicide Squad and so many more duds

I don't assume someone is a bigot if they disliked The Marvels. But I am suspicious of people who claim it's the worst film ever. Most people will acknowledge it wasn't a great film, but let's not pretend there isn't a significant portion of the fandom who decries the movie for being woke despite zero socio-political messaging just because it has female leads. People who use terms like M-SHE-U. "Fine, I'll watch Loki," is my sentiment exactly. The multiverse stuff feels too un-grounded to be engaging, and the Loki heel-face arc has gotten old. Loki's sacrifice at the hands of Thanos felt like a satisfying conclusion to Loki's character arc. But I keep hearing that Loki is the savior of the MCU, so it may be worth a watch.
