Great vid. I'm moving from an AirSense 10 Autoset that I've had for over 5 years to a new 11 next week. My doc had previously given me verbal permission to adjust clinical settings as I see fit and this was the vid I was looking for! I adjust the ramp to zero and minimum pressure up from the prescription of 6 cmH2O to 8.6 or so. [My normal pressure at rest is about 11.5]. At the lower start setting I feel like I have to suck in air harder when I start the machine. The DME provider will only set it per the typical prescription settings so I wanted to know how to adjust it when I get it home. Just a preference and your vid showed me how access the clinical menu PLUS some other features that are not part of the AirSense 10. Thanks! PS - if anybody has problems after the warranty period - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use one of the three Resmed approved vendors for repair (if you are in the US). They know what they are doing. I had to have my blower assembly on my AirSense 10 replaced about a year ago and it was at a reasonable price and warranted for another year. My insurance is covering a new machine so on I go. I'll keep the 10 as a back up.

Thanks for this information. I've had the AirMed 11 for over 15 months. My CPap setting was at 12 and when it blows at 10 it begins to blow my mask off of my face and leaks. I talked with my distributor at least 4 times and my Dr at least 3 times and got nothing done to lower this setting. This is the first time I was told I could do it myself. I suspect my Doctor's people didn't even know how to do this, because they kept telling me they fixed it and it was not changed at all.

Finally! Many thanks for this. I have been looking to adjust the pressure as it goes bazurk in the middle of the night with super high pressure. The ResMed team in France would not help - only referred me back to the doctor... only, I am not in the French system (where I would have to pay 60 euros/mth to be monitored... ) so it's an outside firm (like ORKYN) who controls the system. Very annoying... BUT finally, super happy to have control. And I can finally sleep well.

Great video with functionality details, something that the Dr. or ResMed refuses to give to CPAP users. Switched over from the Airsense 10 to the Airsense 11 as the former's cellular connectivity was disabled since it was old/outdated. Getting dry mouth so will discuss with my doctor, but do have the humidity on ~4 while too much is uncomfortable, despite living in a dry area during the cold seasons and humid during the hot seasons. No one could explain why sometimes it's hard to breathe with a nasal mask, similar to gasping for air, yet the Airsense 10 is on the low auto setting ~7~8 while anything higher feels like too much air is being pushed. Saw a pulmonology and take 1 breath test and he says my lungs are normal, fine as well as a chest x-ray which came out negative, showing no abnormalities. Just have to keep the bedroom clean and tubings washed. Update: Gravity is the culprit so nasal passages and turbinates are closed when side sleeping.
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! If it is difficult for you to breathe from a nasal mask, you may have a deviated septum or some nasal congestion. Try a full face mask and see if this makes it easier for you to breathe. Also ask your provider to turn on your EPR for some exhalation relief.

I am a retired physician and my son is a pulmonologist sleep doctor. Your videos are among the best I have seen. They are informative and well-done. I have moderate sleep apnea, and my son arranged for me to get the Airsense 11. It is my first machine and I have had it for less than a month. My response to CPAP is complicated by a history of nasal polyps, which seems to make me an ‘outlier’. For example, I could not tolerate the Auto settings but things improved dramatically on “Manual”. High humidity settings makes my dry mouth worse. Right now everything is either ‘off’ or set to the ‘lowest’. I am ready to ‘test out’ different settings. Any suggestions for initial settings for people with a history of nasal polyps?
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. Nasal polyps can be tricky. Suggestion would be to try a full face mask, increase your humidity and use a climate tube to assist with max moisture. Settings are based on sleep study and not around the Polyps itself. You may benefit from a titration study at the sleep lab as well. Thank you for watching! Sure glad that this video and others like it are available because the Lincare representative didn't cover anything about the machine other than turning it on. I guess it's going to be trial and error until I see the pulmonologist on the 30 day follow up visit. I'm going to start out on as many auto settings as available, note any side efforts and adjust accordingly, but make notes on what settings have been changed for the Dr. to review.
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
I also do suggest not making too many changes your first 30 days. Your body needs time to adjust to treatment and making too many changes to quick can cause your brain and body to become confused with what may work. I always suggest the auto pressures, the device will provide what you need and plenty of practice while awake. Wear the device while watching tv, listening to music or even while reading.

I had my first sleep study in a previous century, and have had success with CPAP therapy for years. When the dreaded "motor life exceeded" message came up at 22k hours on my AS10, my general practitioner set me up with an at-home sleep test, and had an AS11 ordered for me. When I got it from my DME supplier, the prescription was for auto 5-20. I immediately changed it to constant 12cmh2o, as I've been using since the start. The DME wouldn't deviate from the (unqualified) prescription so I took control. I also installed my own SD card to use OSCAR for compliance reporting.

What is Oscar? I have an AS11 and have the myair app. How does Medicare know if you are in compliance?
@jonathanvoth2479 Жыл бұрын
OSCAR is an acronym that stands for, "Open Source CPAP Analysis Reporter". OSCAR provides for the viewing of the high-resolution sleep data that is generated by the CPAP and stored on the SD card. OSCAR converts this data to graph form allowing the user to view this data down to a breath by breath level. OSCAR is free to use and is compiled in formats that will operate on Mac, Linux, and Windows. OSCAR can be downloaded from www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/. It is this information that enables you to provide data for discussion with your doctor and/or to view and optimize your personal therapy. OSCAR is also used by many physicians and therapists who consult with patients, and by medical researchers comparing patient/machine responses across multiple platforms. OSCAR provides visual and statistical data details and enables comparisons across machine types and manufacturers, that are not available from proprietary manufacturer software and data products. Professionals who rely on OSCAR to provide research and to serve patient needs will lose this valuable resource if data becomes inaccessible, or only available through the manufacturer's data products.

This video got me thru the menu basics, and I've saved it. Also liked and subscribed. Been using CPAP therapy for over 20 years. I'm a bit of a tweaker, with most of my settings set manually. I have a great working partnership with my Sleep Apnea Dr. and we stay stitched together on what I've adjusted and why. Very supportive. Thanks again!

⚠ QUESTIONS PLEASE ⚠ - WOW! I just discovered we can change the pressure with this auesome video! Thanks. An appt with my doctor I need to set appt, takes to much time, wait, pay the fee. And it may take a week or 2! I have the P10 mask and air keeps leaking out of mouth no matter what I do. Suction with mouth and tongue even tape does not work. Chin strap. At the moment of drifting off air leaks out and I awake immediately. It was at 11 they set it to 10. Way to much pressure. I would rather set it to about 5 and make adjustments myself. Pain in the butt having to keep setting up appointments and pay to have them adjust pressure "grudgingly." Sleep is so important and I am struggling bad. I need more mouisture and heat than I do pressure with my apnea. Comments greatly appreciated. What would you do? Thanks. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Hi, thank you for watching. It sounds like you feel the pressure set by your doctor is too high. Since you're just starting therapy, we suggest letting your doctor know your pressure feels too high and have them adjust accordingly. If you drop the pressure too much, there's a chance the machine won't deliver enough pressure to prevent breathing events. If you're struggling to even use your machine because of the high pressure, try an auto CPAP range of 5 to 15 cm H2O. That way the machine will increase pressure up to a max of 15 if needed. It'll lower the pressure if you don't need that much pressure. But if you choose to do this, definitely make sure to follow up with your doctor so they can assess how you're doing on that pressure setting. Also, you can try enabling AutoRamp if it's not turned on. That'll make it easier for you to fall asleep at a lower pressure. And you can also increase your EPR level to make it easier to exhale. We have videos that explain both in detail. Ramp video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYLanJ6ObsSfesUsi=iRzgtNvAJ0nWf8SC EPR video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4PJdKh_ht57g8ksi=vxPyGo3cut_EVMTZ

Thanks so much for this video, as I have a new Resmed Airsense 11 machine prior I had the Airsense 10 and prior another Resmed cpap. the 10 and 11 I received from the V.A. The airsense 10 was in autoset mode but for some reason the airsense 11 was set to cpap mode, and was very uncomfortable for me to use. I have changed my settins thanks to you and am alot more comfortable and the some of the sleep apnea results are the same. I am sure once the figure out that I changed the mode i will get a chewing out. Oh well life is short.

I am sure you can give your provider a call and advise them you changed your pressures to match your previous settings. They can remote into your machine and confirm your apneas are maintained. I believe you can also push power button on and then off and it will blow air through hose to help dry it?

Some patients after washing their hose, do connect their hose to the CPAP and have the air blow through it to dry it quicker.

It’ll better if your description of the setting value means at 4:11, for example EPR Level 1, 2, or 3 means 3 is easiest breathing out effort, instead of “you can adjust the level to the most comfortable to you” since people have no idea what the number means that why they rely on instructional guide their decision like these

Thanks for the video I'm going to try manual. I was sick a couple weeks ago and woke up with real bad ear ache like there was fluid in there. I looked up if a cpap can cause that and it said it could be from to much pressure so I'm going to try adjusting that.

Thank you for watching. Please ensure to discuss pressure changes with your sleep specialist first. Changes to CPAP therapy can cause health issues such as untreated OSA or increase in CO2 levels due to patient difficulty in exhalation.

Try a heated tube and reducing the humidity. If that does not work, try switching your mask type, if you have a nasal pillow try a nasal mask or full face mask.

Thanks, learning on behalf of my partner! What is significance of the blue flashing snowflake please? I have this when I’m trying to adjust pressure etc. is it a warning? When does it go away. Thanks for your help. Jo in France 🇫🇷
@RespShop Жыл бұрын
The snowflake just indicates the machine is in cool-down mode after you have shut it off. It can take anywhere from 5-25 mins for the cool down process. Let the machine cool down before unplugging from your wall outlet.

Thank you very much for all the information. Is there a way you can make the machine produce cooler? I know you can make it produce warm air but I like the air I breathe being cool. I'm having trouble sleeping because the air is a little warm for me. Is there some type of setting where the air can be cool?
@RespShop2 жыл бұрын
Hello Cody, you will have to make the bedroom cooler. Start with turning off your climateline tube and maybe opening a window. When the heated tube is off the machine will be providing room temperature air. Please don't forget to Like & Subscribe for more CPAP and Sleep apnea related videos.
