It's just an entry if you can' t finish someone with it. And even if you can cause someone to stop for a moment its very important to follow up until the enemy is out of order. Peace

It's self explanatory that, when you miss a target, you follow up. But it's a totally different story, when you actually train to touch slightly the target as a fake attack, in order to trap afterwards, instead to destroy the target in the first place. When you can touch it, than apply force, and not doing some stupid fixed patterns.

Probably the people,who use these as entry,have never heard of single direct attack.In addition Bruce said:JKD is the art of simplicity.

Although, Ted taught JKD as sport, no main targets, eyes, groin, knees, just kickboxing

Well, yes it is, in his own words, "This is more for sport fighting". Multiple witnesses, including Jesse Glover. Not really shocking, when you look at twjkd application.

@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO Everything he taught can used for self defense it may not be a stripped down version and method of JKD but everything he taught can be used for JKD self defense. There's multiple videos on youtube of Ted teaching groin strikes and kicks and also kicks to the knee. I never trained with Ted Wong, but my brother trained with him 3 times in seminars and he never taught kick boxing but self defense. I learn a lot a lot from your methods and practice of JKD especially the emphasis of eye strikes, but I don't agree with you saying TW taught kickboxing. Last thing I seen what TW taught works on the street because I saw it with my own eyes the lead punch alone is very effective in stopping a person.

Note that >faking< an eyejab to close the distance or set up another attack is something completely different than >doing< an eyejab to close the distance. Just like drawing the guy by leaving a hole in your guard somewhere is not the same as just having a hole in your guard. Might look very similar from the outside (which is the idea, or the deceit would not work), but the difference in your own perception is enormous. When you miss thr target or you hit it but the attack didn't have the desired outcome of ending the fight, no playing around, just go for the next main target that is available and end the fight as quickly as possible.

The one is a fake hight attack, outside of the reach, the other one is the idea using eye jab as entry, to then patty cake, also you can see people actually training placing the foot on the opponent knee, to then patty cake.

That's why you should train not to telegraph. 99,9 percent of martial artists can't do it...

Good lesson. What about in case of missing the key target or when their adrenaline is very strong? Would you practice follow up technique or reset to onguard?
@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO
@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Of course you would follow up, if you fail. But follow up by using same principles, simplicity, directness, and efficiency.

Believe it or not, the subtle points you cover here perfectly contain the core of late JKD is the simplest way I’ve ever seen. So simple it’s easy to miss
