I just took a screen capture from the video and changed the color of the car in photoshop. Then over laid it back in the video. But...I am seriously considering green. 🤘

Been through all this many times. Don't confuse "Restomod" with fixing up an old car.....there is a LOT of difference there. What you learn on one like this makes the next one soooo...much easier! Keep at it.

A lot of it is tedious. Always have to keep a positive attitude. Sometimes we have to step away and regroup. Enjoy driving it.

I like the matchbox look with the slim tires, they’re not to heavy for a v6 at least 😊

drive it.. it will bring back the excitement... plus you can just cruise... not worrying about nicks and rocks etc.. since you will be doing something to it later... you will have the most fun. I had a friend meet Carol Shelby and when he said come look at a car at the track he didn't say the trailer queen he took him to a beat up race car... cars are meant to be driven

To adjust the hood up and down, just rotate the hinge on the apron. If you think about how the hinge moves it will make sense to you.

@@GreaseRookie Oh and by the way the green paint on the fingers was absolutely perfect lol. After the green finger paint and the reveal the hook was set deep lol. When I was in high school back in 80 my sister had a 66 almost the same color.

Looks great in black. I would love to powdercoat everything that can't be painted black if it were up to me...I like a blacked out car. If the hood hinge doesn't move up enough just shim between the hinge and the hood.

You should show the car to some of your Dad’s friends. I bet he talked about it a lot and kept them up to date on the progress. It would be like getting his reaction. You may have hit an emotional wall on the Iron 6 because a son always seeks his father’s approval. After my dad passed away I would reach a milestone and feel a little empty. I was missing that affirmation from my Dad. I may be way off base, but you just don’t seem to have the feeling of accomplishment that I would expect. Your Dad approves and is very proud of you not just about the Iron 6, but about the kind of man, husband and father you are.

I appreciate the comment Jack because you hit the nail on the head. I haven’t been able to put my finger on it but something along this last home stretch hasn’t felt right. I’ve been blaming it on exhaustion but I knew the milestones I’ve been hitting should have been giving me more motivation than what they have.

@@GreaseRookie Andrew, I felt the same way after my parents passed away. Let me tell you this story from my perspective as a Christian. All of a sudden I didn’t like my business, life was not fun anymore it was just a blah. Remained active in my church and thought I could pray my way out of my funk. I made some career decisions I later regretted. My wife ask me to go to see a psychologist and I got a referral from my doctor for someone that did not try to over psychoanalyze me, I wanted a Dr that worked on Brain Chemistry and was a Christian. (Not because of faith healing, but so we had shared values). I believe God can heal, but I also know God uses his people to help us, that is how God answers prayer. I will tell you that you can’t pray your way out of depression. But do keep praying. Within a week I saw the psychiatrist (the one with an MD) and started on an anti-depressant. For me it was like turning on the lights and I was thinking much more clear. Most people need a few days to get a benefit. Usually after the right dose is found you can start taking less and less and then quit. Depression affects the Brain Chemistry and does not make enough happy juice for you to get better. The good new is that in the vast majority of cases the brain returns to making it’s own happy juice and can take the function of balancing your brain chemistry over again. Your doctor will need to talk to you about what is going on in your life and how well you are dealing with things. This is how they know which brain hormones are out of balance. But if the start out with “Why did you hate your father” get up, pay your copay and leave. Find someone who understands this is a not a live long deep rooted problem, and they are out there. You probably don’t need deep psycho-therapy. Later on I was talking with a church pastor I was doing business with and in the conversation I mentioned that both of my parents had passed and I missed have them pray for me everyday. And he ask me when they stopped praying. Hmm, I guess they haven’t. Then he ask when did their prayer expire. Hmm, I guess they haven’t. I realized that they were still giving me encouragement. Just so you know, both of my parents died of long term illness. Dad was diabetes and mom was kidney failure. They were great parents. So I hope I have convinced you to talk to your doctor about a referral for someone who approaches depression from a brain chemistry point of view. Follow the plan and put this behind you. You will enjoy your wife and kids more and be more creative again. I am not ashamed of having had depression and do not consider it a weakness. I believe the fact that after my wife ask me I took a proactive approach. God let me experience depression so I could encourage others. As a high school teacher for 16 years I identified two teens that were suicidal and they were able to get help. I also referred many students for help from our intervention counselor. So feel free to ask me anything about my experience, it is one way I serve God. STAY DRIVEN

If you do get new wheels and tires consider doing a 5 lug conversion. 5x114.3 are much more available than 4x114.3

@RealJerb 2 жыл бұрын
If only that was a cheap endeavor. Will have to replace the whole rear end, and front spindles. That doesn't include the brakes and rotors themselves. I would know being someone stuck with 4 lug drums rn on mine.

I’m sticking with for lug for now. Someday I’ll probably go 5 lug. I may have found a decent set of 4 lug rims that will work. We’ll see.

For sure getting a new set of wheels n tires will help. I had my 67 mustang in just gray primer while I was restoring it and when I upgraded wheels n tires, it got me excited and gave me a boost to keep going. It was also a safety issue as old tires were dry rotted.

Hell yeah man! Looks alot better, runs MUCH better, you seem more relaxed now too!! LOL For this being your first restoration going this deep, you've done an excellent job thus far. Time, patients, and money. (you never have ALL 3 at once...hahaha) So.... brutal honesty... the wheels and tires suck. Aren't those 13s or something? I guess could be 14s, hard to tell. But- need to be at least 14 or 15 inch dia and 6-7 inch wide. The lug bolt pattern is 4 on 4.5" so your choice of wheel is kinda slim. Nothing off a Foxbody or Mustang II will work as they are 4 on 4.25" bolt pattern. Falcon, Comet, Maverick, Mustang, and even some Datsun and Toyota I believe. But will have to be basically Ford 4-lug stuff prior to 1974 for Domestics. Not sure what a Fairmont or LTD II uses but I think its same as Foxbody. The good thing is, is that when you do find a set of wheels they are usually cheap since nobody usually wants them. So happy for you Andrew! You need to get through that inspection so you can get out and really stretch its legs out!

Do you drive it where the big green dot is on the gearshift? Where second gear normally is, is actually drive ,the small green dot takes off in second gear. Not trying to sound like a smart ace, was just curios. Keep at it you’re doing great.
