He's acting his part and I'm sure the director will make whatever happens happen like it's supposed to happen, or there will be many many many retakes, and it will be great....or we can all use our imagination and make of it whatever we want to. There are lots of goofs people point out in movies and in the end, it doesn't matter. People that look beyond the goofs still enjoy the movie. People that focus on them can either step up and do it better or go find something else to do, in my humblest of opinions.

Yes, for sure, he is. Specifically I think the title relates to both Finn and Rey. It 'awakens' in both of them, but the 'awakening' Snoke and Kylo sensed was of Finn. Another point to prove that the awakening they speak of is not of Rey is because Kylo seems genuinely surprised when Rey shows signs of using the force - he wasn't expecting it.

I love the Finn character, and Jon Boyega is one of the most likeable actors I've seen in a long time. He better be force sensitive at least. His character is perfect for new fans and would be a great role model for young fans. I know race is important to some people, but I think his charisma and positivity transcend race. So I hope they give this character some proper weight.

Originally Rey was suppose to join kylo in the second movie then finn would lead the charge on horse back weilding a Lightsaber in the 3rd movie. Ben was never suppose to turn to light. I feel like it'll be Fin because Rey is the one who found Luke and I assume she will be the one to be trained by Luke. And since Fin didn't go with her he is more susceptible to being tempted by Snoke/Kylo Ren. But I find it more likely that Snoke will come to him in a dream or vision.

Wow. I never thought of that. I'll have to check out that video. I was kind of hoping that Snoke was actually really tiny, tho. Like Yoda sized. I like it when uber-powerful characters are in unconventional shapes and sizes. I loved how Jabba was so powerful but was a totally sedentary slug who had everyone waiting on him and doing whatever he said. I was REALLY upset when Lucas did the re-do and they showed Jabba slugging around talking to Han Solo. I wanted to believe that he didn't HAVE to do his own "leg work." I also loved how in Star Wars, we knew Jabbas name when we heard Greedo and Han talking about him, but we never really knew who they were talking about. We just knew that he was someone dangerous. But I digress...I want Snoke to be tiny and all powerful like Yoda is tiny and powerful. Thus following the whole "Size matters not" thing in the world of the force. You all probably already know the answer to this and how tall Snoke really is...but I'm still going to wish that my theory comes true.

In Finns background story he actually was very sensitive he never left any his soldiers behind, and always cared for his teammates and try to never let any of them die; Even back when he was not a stormtrooper.

Actually, the reason Finn could use the saber so well is because he was in the FN corps. The storm trooper that he kills with the saber was also from the FN corps. Finn was actually trained to use that baton. That is why he is FN-2187. He is in the FN corps which is a group of storm troopers trained in close combat.

I want so badly for Finn to be Force sensitive. I loved his character and I feel like it'd be the best twist ever if everyone was focusing on Rey being the Jedi only to find out that Finn is one too! Not to mention the fact that Kylo and Finn are narrative foils, and I'd love to see them face off again when both are better trained. Side note: I heard a theory that Rey might be a gray jedi: not good not bad, just morally gray. I'd love that for her.

Me too. It makes sense to explore greater bounds in a new trilogy, which could include making more than one Jedi. My theory is that Finn meets up with Luke at the end of episode 8 somehow, probably because Leia figures it out, and the Jedi get together as a team and the battle goes to Snoke in episode 9, which takes place a number of months later.

This may be speculative, but notice that FN-2187's name has been changed, which has happened before in Star Wars. Dooku is Tyranus Palpatine is Sidius Obi-wan is Old Ben Anakin is Vader Leia SKYWALKER becomes Leia ORGANA imediantly after her birth. FN-2187 is Finn What do all of these people have in common? They are Force sensitive. Also Finn's personality is almost the EXACT opposite of a stormtrooper, which is basically more robotic than a droid, but Finn consistently defies authority in both Episode VII and VIII. He should not have happened. It is next to impossible to reject every aspect of how you were raised as a child by yourself. The Force healed his mind and wiped all stormtrooper out of him. Plus, Maz stood crawled on a table to get a better look at him. She's looking at the eyes of a man who wants to run? I don't think so! He literally just said that he wanted to run. As you said, Maz senses the Force in him. One last thing. Finn was taken from a family he will never know and raised to do one thing. Do you know who else have the exact same childhood? Every single known Jedi in the order except for Anakin and Luke.

don't forget that if the kyber crystal does not except the person using it (i.e a force sensitivity individual) the crystal becomes corrupted and turns the lightsaber red. even if the person welding it is considered a "good guy" so the fact that Luke's lightsaber (a Saber that's been connected to one of the strongest force users) excepts finn as a weilder is almost definite proof. otherwise the writers are going to have to deal with some continuity errors.

I've said all of this when the very first trailer of SWTFA was released years ago! I told everybody that the force awakens is going to be based on FINN two years ago and everybody laughed at me. And it was obvious because the very first line of the very first trailer released was a voice saying "There's been an awakening have you felt it?" THEN FINN'S HEAD POPS UP......daaaah. I get what you're getting at but believe it or there's more BLACK JEDI if you're only counting Episode 1 thru 7. The only white Jedi were OBI-WAN and Qui-Gon the rest turned to the darkside. If you were paying attention you would have noticed at least 5 or 6 BLACK Jedi. Mace Windu, The Jedi woman that got killed in order 66, The Jedi women that was fighting in the arena in Attack of the clones, The Jedi that tried to help Windu arrest the Palpatine and now FINN(whos not a jedi yet).The rest were Alien Jedi.

One thing that would be pretty cool in episode 9 is that if they reveal that snoke is mace windu and also Finn's father. This isn't that crazy an idea because like Lucas in the prequels JJ wants to make this trilogy mirror and rhyme the original trilogy. If Snoke was Finn's dad (Mace Windu) it would connect a ton of things. 1. First of this video's theory that Finn is force sensitive with his dad being a very powerful jedi and all 2. Gives Snoke a connection to a character we've seen before, like a lot of fans want to see 3. Connects Finn character even more to the Star Wars saga 4. What happened to Mace Windu after the fight with Sideous if we're saying he survived the fall, and I think it would be pretty cool to establish why he left the jedi council and founded the first order becoming a sith lord 5. That maz kanata line about his eyes and how he has the eyes of someone she's seen before that runs away would make a ton of sense if what happened was Windu survived the fall and hid away like Yoda and Kenobi because of order 66 except he didn't tell anyone of his survival I think making smoke finn's father makes a ton of sense as so much cool stuff can be done with it and it would make for a crazy reveal in episode 9

I actually wish Rey joined Kylo Ren and Finn became a Jedi. Just imagine, Rey struggling to meet with the expectations of Luke. Luke tries to train her to be a good Jedi, but she continues to feel the call to the darkness. When she chooses not to heed Luke's warning, she goes to Kylo Ren, trying to turn him from the darkness, but joining him in his prospect of letting the past die. Meanwhile, Finn and Poe goes on a spy mission, discovering Phasma managed to infiltrate the Resistance eventually, and in the battle with Phasma, Finn loses his weapon. He strains to reach his weapon, and it moves the rest of the way to his hand, and he cuts down Phasma. When the Resistance gathers, Luke who is still alive senses the growing Force Sensitivity into Finn. In episode 9, Finn starts feeling more sympathy for even Kylo Ren, and he struggles to redeem both Ben and Rey.

This is why he can use a lightsaber : The movie shows us that all stormtroopers are trained in using a Z6 Riot Control Baton, which can be swung in a similar fashion as a lightsaber. Mads Andreasen: It was a misdirection to introduce Rey. But, the misdirection also was used to hide Finn's Force Sensitivity in plain sight. Why was it done this way, I am not sure but it really created a significant amount of interest.

Mads: When a dying Slip wiped his bloody hand on Finn's helmet, Finn acted like he was punched by some unknown entity. He stood up and acted like he had awakened out of a trance. A very distinctive Force Sound was played and confirmed by a Force Sound Analysis Video on You Tube. This happened to a cadet who was in the top 1% of his class in everything. It would be incredibly difficult for them to explain that he is not Force Sensitive. You are correct that they could decide not to let him be trained to become a Jedi but Finn has significant ability which mirrors that of Obi Wan Kenobi's prior to receiving any training. I know Obi Wan was trained as a child. The dead give away was Finn hearing those screams from the Hosnian System before they happened.

Wow...so many holes in your theories. You're seriously reaching with some of these. I'm not saying he's not force sensitive, but come on. He threw down his blaster when he was chasing after Kylo taking Rey onto his ship, he didn't throw it down so that he could use the saber instead. He's decent with the saber because he was trained in using those vibro weapons that the other Storm trooper was using, and he got his ass whooped by a non-force using Storm Trooper. He came up suddenly on the one Storm Trooper he killed, it's not like he used any skill with that. Again, he didn't do so well against Kylo...WHO WAS INJURED BADLY while fighting him, and his one hit on Kylo was lucky. And the thing about him coming upon the village...you mean kind of like how C3P0 and R2D2 came across Luke? I guess they must be force sensitive too. Hey, Poe and the rest of the group took their helmets off too...I guess they must all be force sensitive.

+Lee Senden I agree he threw down the blaster because he was chasing the ship. Finn was trained to use a baton. Never trained to use a lightsaber. A lightsaber is very different than a baton. Even master swordsman found lightsabers very difficult to wield without practice because almost all the weight is on the hilt. Without the Force, they could accidentally cut off a limb in battle. Pre-Viszla is an exception since he is a Mandalorian, which were known as great at close quarter combat as a species. And he trained with the darksaber for a long time. Finn used the lightsaber for the first time against TR-8R. Read "Before the Awakening" and it shows that Nines was pretty good with the baton. He was using a weapon he trained with all his life, while Finn used a weapon he just started using that is different than what he trained with. He did pretty well against Kylo for parrying as many attack as he did. Finn parried a stab by Kylo then immediately countered with a strike to the shoulder. Kylo wasn't expecting it. Shows some skill. Kylo was injured, but even Rey was having a difficult time and always running back until she let the Force guide her actions. I agree with the village thing. It could be a coincidence or the Force guiding him to the village. Poe was shown without a mask when first first see him. While I don't agree with what he said about all the force sensitives because of Snoke, notice how Finn, Kylo, and Rey (the main characters) are all shown with masks the first time we see them in the movie, then they all take off their masks.

Okay guys....Finn being a Skywalker though would be seriously the best plot twist ever! Cause everyone's so concerned with Rey being a Skywalker that they forgot about the possibility of Finn being related (and the obvious skin tone difference which is easily explained but totally unexpected for most SW fans). I think it would be rather awesome if Rey turns out to be a Kenobi somehow and that little crush that Finn has grows to be something bigger (ie. a Skywalker-Kenobi romance that Obi Wan and Anakin would be proud of). Of course this is just the writer in me loving all the crazy fan theories that probably won't turn out to be true but liking them anyways. Still think Finn being a secret Skywalker would be the best.

The reference is way too obvious when you place the other hints of force sensitivity provided throughout the movie. Lets explore it with what happened in the movie. 1. Finn's helmet received the bloody hand print from a dying Slip and Finn has an awakening including a distinctive Force sound. A Force Sound Analysis video is on KZbin that compares this sound to the Force Sound of Kylo mind raping Rey, and Rey persuading the Storm Trooper to free her. This made it pretty obvious Finn is Force Sensitive. 2. Finn refused to fire on and slaughter innocent villagers breaking 20 years of intense conditioning. Finn risked at a minimum being reconditioned and could have been shot for insubordination. 3. Finn and Kylo Ren have a stare down. Kylo did not notice Finn didn't fire his weapon, Kylo was boarding his ship and stopped suddenly and turned toward Finn. Kylo sensed something which was probably a tremor in the force. 4. Finn rescued Poe (he needed a pilot) and miraculously walks through all the security without being noticed. Finn is chanting as he is walking with Poe, don't be nervous and it seemed to create an invisible Force Shield that prevented them from being noticed. 5. Finn shoots Tie Fighter weapons with little instruction and causes major damage. 6. Finn finds his way to Nima Outpost without food or water (miles in a desert) with no map and avoids all the dangers such as sinking sand. 7. Finn makes a move to help Rey when she is fighting but sees she can handle herself. He stops and looks at her as if he senses something. 8. Finn grabs Rey's hand and pulls her to safety when the Tie Fighters attack. If Finn had of asked Rey to run she would of delayed and been killed. By grabbing her hand he saved her life. Finn somehow sensed that the Tie fighter was about to shoot before it happened. 9.Finn and Rey joins forces and destroyed Three Tie Fighters with Finn having no training in Falcon weapons. They both say at the exact same time "I can do this, I can do this" It seems they share a Force Bond. 10. Finn tells Rey that he is a Storm Trooper and wants to leave but Rey asks him to stay even though he lied about being a Resistance Pilot. Rey is very independent and doesn't need anyone, the fact that she asks Finn to stay reveals the continued Force Bond. 11. Finn hears Hosnian System Screams before the beams hit the planets. Those screams were the same sounds the people on those planet's make. It was a clear indication of significant Force sensitivity. 12. Maz gives Finn the Lightsaber instead of Han who she has known for decades. Maz also really likes Chewie so why did she give it to Finn who she basically just met and said a moment ago he looks like someone who wants to run. Maz then tells Finn to use it as a weapon. Maz must have sensed something. 13. Finn comes back facing his worst fear of the First Order and goes to rescue Rey as well as help destroy Starkiller Base. Finn persuades Phasma who is third in Command without any kind of torture to lower the Starkiller Base shields. Phasma acted as if she was Jedi mind tricked. 14. Finn fights an injured Kylo Ren and wounds him with no Light Saber training and almost gets killed trying to defend Rey who was force pushed into a tree and knocked out. Without Finn's help Rey would have been taken again by Ren. Finn turned out to be the most courageous character in the movie. He also appears to have enough Force sensitivity that if trained could become a powerful Jedi like Obi Wan Kenobi.

I think the reason Finn was pushed to us with the lightsaber before the film came out was because Rey being force sensitive was a twist. It was simply to avoid spoilers. But I think he could be trained as a Jedi later.

Oh, come on. Just look at all the stuff he does, how freaking lucky he always is; I mean, he even made a no-look stormtrooper kill shot in Episode 7 before he even saw the trooper. All the "bad feelings" he gets are probably evidence to a certain amount of force sensitivity as well... Justin Deselva: Finn could easily be Luke's grandson. I have seen the the grandparents and great grand parents of some dark skinned people and were shocked because they looked white/Caucasian. It is very common due to what happened during slavery in the US. Have you ever seen the late Strom Thurman's illegitimate daughter. Her skin is pretty dark. Star Wars is science fantasy but it could easily be portrayed. That would probably be a way to subtlety educate people.

Also the only reason why that the Hosnian Cataclysm was seen across the galaxy is because of the effect of starkiller base, while it runs on the raw energy from stars, quite a bit of it’s energy is generated from Kyber Crystals which obviously have a deep connection to the force, (starkiller base was constructed on Ilum (where Ahsoka takes the younglings to get kyber crystals during the clone wars)

6:41 Those screams are from civilians on the ground around Finn, they're audible. They have direction. Usually when a sound designer wants the listener to hear a voice as disembodied, they'll make the voice non-directional and give it some reverb or a similar effect. Those voices are definitely not from the Force.

I read somewhere that Rey will be a new type of force user (no light side no dark side just the force) there's been stories written about these force users existing before the Jedi/ Sith (that light and dark originated there), I think that is why the next movie is called the last Jedi, not because Rey is the last Jedi but Luke is. Rey and Finn are both force sensitive, she is not a sky walker but I think Finn might be.

The reason Finn is so good with a lightsaber is because in the book "Before the Awakening" it explains the new training programme that the storm troopers have, they have to fight with close range melee weapons, blasters and bare fists. In the book Finn was always better with the melee weapons than he was with range weapons like blasters, this explains why he is good with the lightsaber.

Yeah, plus Kathy Kennedy is too obsessed with strong female characters (white females really since she keeps hiring white women that all look the same to lead roles). I don't think she would let anyone overshadow Rey or even be equal to her. See how much they downplayed his stormtrooper training and kind of made the character incompetent who can't fly any ships even tie fighters, can't talk to droids, etc. I just don't think they care about Finn that much.

I like this theory that Finn is a Force Sensitive and hopefully in the next one, it'll show that Finn will become a Jedi. I know Rei obviously is based on whats seen in the movie and she seems to be more in touch with the force and maybe Finn is too a Force Sensitive, just not just discovering his during the a bit later in The Force Awakens movie (when he uses said saber in battle).
