In Japanese, they’ll usually get entirely new voice actors to do younger versions of the male characters. Its typically a female voice actress that will probably have an easier time producing the sound of a prepubescent boy. In English, they don’t bother changing it up. The difference really shows imo. Kakuma Ai does the younger version of Ephraim, and she’s also Edelgard in Three Houses. Kobayashi Yuu did the younger version of Marth, and ironically enough she is the voice of Lucina in Awakening.

At least it wasn’t as extreme as young Zephiel a few years ago. Mark’s voice at least can go really meek and Lyon is that way. Ephraim’s more confident so.. greg’s delivery is pleasing to the ear, but it’s a more fitting for a middle teenager at the very least.
