+shadowofchaos725 I know why Ike's grunts sound so familiar in the Japanese version. It's because Ike is Link! I knew there was a connection between the two since they exist in medieval times. Combine Link with Ike and you get Like!

It's not. Ike's seiyuu is Michihiko Hagi. He's never voiced Link. Though, the seiyuu for Ocarina Link voiced both Nightmare and Link in SoulCalibur II, and then reprised the role for Nightmare/Siegfried in VI. Play that game if you want to hear what it's like for Link to talk.

Ike's voice acting in the Japanese version of this cutscene sounds like that he needs some milk.

Agreed. Which is why literal translations should stick to being subs. And even then, sometimes it sounds idiotic sometimes. It all depends on the situation.

In English, people usually say their brother's names instead of "brother". Japanese -> English translation is tricky for a lot of reasons. Blazblue went more literal probably because of thew hole NIIIII-SAAAAAAAN thing. It depends on how you want to translate, but you also have to take into account that lip synch isn't being done for English, and they have to modify dialogue in order to fit the mouth movement timings in English.

Mist sounds way cuter in Japanese! I like both voices for Greil though.

this may be how Elise's meme of saying brother came to exist

Next time Ike if you want to attack Greil with his guard down, maybe don't scream at the top of your lungs as you're about to attack him

aw god no, i remember a truckload of problems with localization vs translation on bakatsuki once i'd say it depends on whatever your taste likes
@shadowofchaos72512 жыл бұрын
I didn't say completely throw away the Japanese script. But being literal in Japanese translation DOES NOT WORK. Japanese isn't a Latin based language. The expressions they have have less of a compatibility than other languages. A balance is needed with localization. Throwing away the script just to change something doesn't work, but neither does word for word translation.

so is do you know if anyone has set up a PoR rom yet with japanese voice acting, I wanted to try the game out on dolphin, but would like to play through it using without the english, course I don't know if has bothered with it...

apologies if you felt i directed it personally to you, it was general (i should've added that on a second tought) basically as long as the people can translate it onto something coherent and not add like happened once with puella magi madoka a bunch of emoticons between the texts and literal japanese which made the first batch of subs impossible to understand and sparked several flame wars on translation vs localization.

Sorry, but can I ask how to add subtitles to the Japanese cutscenes like you did in this video?
@shadowofchaos72512 жыл бұрын
That's easily done. Just replace the movie files. I've done that. Here's the problem: There's no subtitles, unlike Radiant Dawn.

If you think that the english voice acting of Radiant Dawn is bad, listen the french one... How could they possibly do worst than that ?
