I have some of these and I find that when I turn the striker around the other way, so that the serrations are facing me, then whip it down the rod firmly and quickly, I can produce quite a nice shower of sparks.

Thanks for showing this cool buckle! Maybe removing the striker and using the narrow end produces better spark, will make the rod last longer and keep you from hitting the buckle prongs.

cool looking forward to seeing what you come up with..... I did try a washer to scrape a ferrous rod but cold not get it to spark I was thinking of using a dremel to put teeth in the washer. some good buckles incorporating a hidden handcuff key doing the rounds on ebay😉 got a pair said buckles for under 10 usd

I've had one for a while but my wrists are quite thin and to be honest the length and the fact that they are flat makes the fit uncomfortable. I've tried several different weaves and also adjusting the size of the bracelets to get a more comfy fit and the best I've come up with is the Wide Dragons Tongue woven quite loose but I'd still prefer some "bend" in the buckle!
@TheWeaversofEternity9 жыл бұрын
+MrShockleader For sure, the bend would make it much more comfortable.

@TheWeaversofEternity8 жыл бұрын
+bear Mitch It should last for quite a few strikes, I'm pretty sure you could get a good 50 or so out of it, but I might be wrong, I'm not very experienced with this stuff.
@joshua31348 жыл бұрын
I would say about 300 - 800

Is this allowed to bring as carry on in plane?
@mariazucchero91235 жыл бұрын
You can put it in your luggage with all of your other extra clothes and wrap it. I don't think you can carry it in your hand carry bag.

The silvery striker can be pulled out from the buckle.

Yes, I forgot to mention and show that. It does come out and it does make it easier to use the fire striker.

@TheWeaversofEternity8 жыл бұрын
I'm not exactly sure how many strikes, but it should last for quite a few, I'm just guessing but I would think at least 100? I could be wrong.

Not sure i would trust that flint in a survival situation, id much rather have the full flint and steel then that.
@TheWeaversofEternity9 жыл бұрын
+Mr Moose For sure. I'd still go with a dedicated flint and steel. I think this makes a great last ditch emergency tool to have though.

No matter how many times I strike it, I can't draw a spark.
@TheWeaversofEternity7 жыл бұрын
You sometimes have to scrape off the black protective coating first before it will spark.
@mariazucchero91235 жыл бұрын
yes It did spark and create a fire you have to learn how to use of striking it many times, I did mine work. I use a dryer lent it works for me!
