@@christianmaxey6719 to be fair plastic engine parts seem like a terrible idea. Everybody knows that plastic has a very low melting point, now I'm not saying it can't be done. As It probably can but only if the plastic is treated with maybe a heat resistant coating or it was polymer base instead of generic plastic. The original point still stands though. Handguns made of 3D printer plastic will work, as it had before, but it has been proven that plastic cannot contain the pressures of 7.62 or 50.

"An entire reciever made of PLA is not plausable" I wouldn't be surprised if he's seen it already but Jonathan should check out the "plastikov" design for a fully printable AK reciever, or the "Amigo Grande" design for a fully printed G3 reciever, there are also printed AR lowers that can handle .308 proven to function well, and entirely printable AR15 upper and lower reciever system called "The Orca". The 3D2A community is doing amazing things.

I believe what Johnathan was elaborating on was that anything bearing a significant amount of weight or pressure, i.e. a receiver for a general-purpose machine gun wouldn't be feasible as depicted in game. Jonathan Ferguson probably won't see this but bolt action AKs are a thing without being a custom piece. At least here in Austria and probably also in Germany. Interordnance R94: Basically AKs without the gas-system. They don't even have a special handle or something, just the normal AK charging handle that you need to pull back after every shot and they're chambered in 7.62x39. Might have gotten a bit less popular after they changed the law in Austria a couple years back, making normal self-loading AK variants easier to obtain.

There are so many changes to MWIII from the beta, Three examples being the "Longbow", "Striker", and "SVA 545". The least noticeable difference is the SVA as it was just the damage that got tweaked. The Longbow and Striker were most noticeable, the Longbow in the beta was chambered in .224 valkyrie instead of 7.62X39MM,the striker in the beta had the LWRC bolt and charging handle but now it has the UMP 45 bolt and charging handle.

Bolt-action AKs were (or are) actually in service in the Armenian military. They are called K-11 and K-8 chambered in 5.45x39 and 7.62x54R respectively

7:24 does Jonathan know that Activision are deliberately moving away from more realistic weapon models? It’s a shame but it’s been that way since 2020 and is unfortunately a political reason. It’s the reason we had the “Lachmann Sub” instead of the beautiful MP5 from MW2019.

Unpopular opinion but I sorta like the differences in firearms. The SVA-545, while it takes aspects from the AN-94, but by not being an AN-94, makes it unique. The slight differences are interesting!

I keep hearing/reading this but have yet to see any compelling evidence. I know Dave has tried to research it and hasn't really got to the bottom of it either. If they are legally compelled to change designs, why did they put a gas block on the 2019 FAMAS and then make the gun *more* realistic in 2023 (or actually for Warzone I think?)?

THe SVA seems to be more like a mix of AK-107, and Sagia MK-107 that feature the counter balencing recoil system, and have been quite popular in competition shooting circles in Europe. But then ingame performs like an AN-94.

As someone who does 3d printing and Injection molding for a living. Just a heads up PLA probably wouldn't be used for 3d printing gun parts by any sort of professional company, if it was 3d printed (and not injection molded) it would use something like Carbon Fiber, Nylon, or something of the sort, I also know people tend to use Annealable PLA's or HSPLA for gun parts. I think it would be extremely possible from a government funded production.

Just a slight detail, I believe that the gun the KVD is based on is actually the Chuvakin SVCH. I believe it might be the western name, SVK, but I know that Battlefield 2042 called it SVK so I think that might be in Jonathan’s mind.

Interesting point on the AN-94 I hadn't considered: if the magazine is canted to make feeding easier for the 2 round burst, would firing a single shot and then switching to burst cause that system to malfunction?

Modern warfare games (classic & 2019) were very accurate with their weapons, they looked correct and also had the real world names. MW2 seemed to change a few things such as the P90 being given a different name and the the hand grips changed design. Playing MW3, so far I am yet to spot an accurate real world firearm that I recognize

The “SVA 545” is definitely based on the French AN-94 but so loosely that I could only tell because of the two round hyperburst feature and the barrel. The mag is not canted, and the rest of the gun is cobbled together from the other AK knockoffs in the game.

With the bolt action AK, I'm curious whether the lack of gas bleed-off is enough to increase the velocity of the projectile significantly. No gas system means no action for the expanding gases to operate, which has the potential to change the ballistics significantly. Thoughts?
