I think aside from the Repeater Handgun, the others are pretty well done. Other than the fact that Kruber reloads his muzzle-loading flintlock handgun in a couple of seconds, instead of fifteen :D Aside from that, GameSpot has an expert for cold weapons (blades, maces, that sort of thing). Maybe they could have their first video with both experts at once? Now there's a thought!

Aww man I wanted to see Jonathan react to the SVD with an entire longitudinal chunk missing from the handguard, or the S&W 686 with a AAA battery taped inside a corner of the grip that broke off. When I got into the insider sessions the first thing I noticed is that the default appearances for basically all the guns are heavily beaten on, rather than just worn.
@davydatwood3158

Probably reflective of what videos I'm watching lately, but it took me three re-reads of this to realise that "AAA battery" did not, in this case, mean "Anti-Aircraft Artillery." :D Once I grokked that the image seemed much more plausible.

I have to admit that it's kind of cool to see the action on the AK due to the missing top cover and it allows the developers to show that they have modeled and animated it. AK is the weapon of choice for this, since the top cover is not essential to the functioning of the weapon (at least in the short-term) and without it you can see quite a lot of the action while firing. some video games might model occasional malfunctions, but I have not seen an FPS, where cleaning dirt and doing regular maintenance are things that the player has to actually do. there is World of Guns: Gun Disassembly, but that's not a shooter. nevertheless the missing top cover might affect the mounting of sights and scopes. I was also thinking about iron sights, since I'm more familiar with the RK 95 TP, which does have the rear sight on the top cover, while the AK does not. at least the action is essentially the same on both, although we were obviously never allowed to fire it without the top cover, but you get the hang of how it works quite quickly, when you are learning to do maintenance.
@No-mq5lw
@No-mq5lw Жыл бұрын
Metro: Exodus has a gun cleaning mechanic. Also affects the accuracy and damage of the weapon in addition to causing malfunctions. It's introduced about when the more open world-y sandbox portions start to present themselves. Problem with gun maintenance though is that it doesn't always fully compliment the game mechanics that adds to the game experience. If it's a survival or sim type of game, that level of detail might be welcomed into the calculus of the game mechanics, since that's the kind of experience you are playing for, but most other games don't take this approach, so they leave it out. Also, this game uses the traditional Russian sight attachment system, which a rail attached to the side that cranes over the top. A lot of AKs or accessories either improve the fit of the top cover, or completely avoid using it for optics mounting. Only AK family rifle that completely reverses this is the SIG 55X series.

It's made by a dude who worked on CoD (Original MW, MW2) and it does play like an older CoD title. It's just multiplayer only. Characters have special abilities and the characters are from other Ubisoft games : Echelon from Splinter Cell, DeadSec from Watch Dogs, Phantoms from Ghost Recon, Cleaners from The Dividion and Freedom Fighters from Far Cry 6. Though they have abilities they aren't super broken or anything. Also seems like they are trying to push teamwork and they are trying to keep things balanced. So of you liked the fast paced multiplayer of earlier CoD titles you will probably enjoy XDefiant. I enjoyed my time with the Beta. It's also Free 2 Play.

Jonathan's comment on the military-grade MP7 having supposed to be non-existent in the US irks me just a tiny bit, because, the US Naval Special Warfare Development Group, aka DEVGRU, aka Seal Team 6, does in fact use the MP7 IRL. To be fair, that is the only major US military group that actively uses the MP7 as far as I'm aware. Maybe since this game features the Echelon faction from Splinter Cell, and they use the MP7 in recent titles, *that* could be why it's in the US. IDK, maybe I'm reading too far into this.

It’s like why the military leadership likes an AR platform for weapons, or why nato’s main combat rifle ammo is what it is. It’s useful for dozens of situations, not just what it was immediately designed for.

Ok here's an idea, you have a man with access to god knows what prototypes, -Show him Enlisted -Make it multiple parts (country by country), the game has enough for that -Unless you have a press account forget recording stuff normally, the grind takes too long and you could only show him starter guns -Take notes what the higher unlocks are from the progression tree and the premium guns -Load up the editor and spawn those guns in and record them from there

I know there are already loads of requests like these, but I'm gonna throw Cruelty Squad into the list as well. Lots of experimental weapons, even more unpleasantness in the visuals (and sounrds, and everything).

my theory on why CoD have changed their weapons designs and names is to distance themselves from real world shootings, its been blamed for them before so they're probably just trying to dodge blame.

It feels weird to be correcting Jonathan Ferguson on something, but the Mosin Nagant cannot eject its clip. Well, mine can't, which is an M27 Finnish variant, and the general consensus from other Mosin owners is that the clip has to be manually removed from the rifle before chambering the round, because otherwise it will just prevent the bolt from moving forward. I've also never gotten a clip to eject like that. It was a rumor for a while, I think around 2015, when Battlefield 1 was making headlines, that pulling up on the top round in the clip like that can eject the clip, and while I do use that technique, it's because I find that it makes it more consistent to load the rifle, and it doesn't eject my clips.

I believe a US court had made the ruling that firearm designs are public domain, and that videogame companies are not beholden to seek licensing to portray the model itself in videogames, just the name. It is currently unknown why big companies always try to make them legally distinct despite this ruling. Of course I could have misremembered/Misread what I saw but I'm sure someone will correct me.

Did Johnathan Ferguson, the Keeper of Firearms and Artillery at The Royal Armories Museum in The UK, which houses a collection of thousands of iconic weapons from throughout history just call out Micah Mayfield for his Gigachad Mosin?
