In this video Eric discusses the various types of actions and mechanisms upon which various firearms operate. This is certainly not a complete list, but hopefully will educate the new gun owner to the basic types of actions used to date. Stay tuned, much more on the way.

I would never make any assumptions about another man's phallus, nor am I particularly interested in imagining it, but any man who is afraid to take responsibility for his own safety and his family's lives by carrying a firearm for defense is clearly lacking in testosterone production. My penis is none of your concern, Capt Trdl, but you might want to consult a doctor about your testicles.

Even if somebody isn't interested in guns, or even hates guns, videos like this are interesting just from the perspective of machine design. Designing a functional firearm is a neat engineering challenge, and the evolution of that engineering is worth studying for its own sake. I really do wonder if something will come along eventually that's superior to the basic semiautomatic action we know and (many of us) love today. Or maybe something will change in how magazines work. Maybe somebody young who finds and watches this video will devise something revolutionary someday.

fakecubed personally i feel the next advancement would be handheld railguns. It completely eliminates the need for chemical propellant and casings and all that. Imagine and AR type gun where it had a magazine/hopper with just bullets that could be fed and fired. Just food for thought.
@baronprocrastination1722
@baronprocrastination1722 6 жыл бұрын
So...how are you going to power that?
@VIDgamesLover
@VIDgamesLover 6 жыл бұрын
Kurtz Marxim batteries, just like they do now. Now granted, the batteries needed to power such a device would probably need to fill up a 10x10 room, but keep in mind the first computers in the 1950s took up like double that and had like 3 megabytes of storage and 2 kilobytes of ram. My point being things get more compact and sophisticated as time goes on, so i dont think its impossible.
@fakecubed
@fakecubed 6 жыл бұрын
As a total scifi nerd, I find the idea of electromagnetically launched projectiles quite appealing, however I think battery technology is really going to have to come a really long way before we get there. There was a time when I thought electric cars would be the driving force (no pun intended), but now I think it's mobile computing devices like phones and tablets that will push the limits of energy storage. Still, I think it's awfully hard to beat chemical propellants. Maybe if we manage to miniaturize energy production right in the gun, perhaps with hydrogen fuel cells or even something really crazy like a tiny molten salt nuclear reactor or even fusion power, but at a certain point you have to wonder if these things could take a hit from a bullet and not cause more problems than they're worth on the battlefield, and what sort of weight savings you can even get. Railguns are obviously the future of larger weapon systems, of course. The Navy is looking into them for surface warfare but right now the only mobile platform capable of generating enough electrical power is a big warship. We've got a long ways to go.

I've never left a comment on a KZbin video before. But I did want to say that I enjoy your videos, I find your information to be extremely correct and accurate, and I wanted to thank you for the information that you put out and the way in which you make your videos. How many people understand the various kinds of actions or types of guns and even fewer know how to identify them including the law enforcement community. I'm a retired law enforcement officer and in my day the kind of firearms training we got consisted of 50 rounds of practice and 50 rounds to qualify twice a year. We were fairly large or medium to large city. Chiraq this to encourage you and tell you to keep up your fine work

Very well done. I am glad you included muzzle loaders. I remember being perplexed the first time I saw an inline smoke pole. I would have included a flintlock in the video. BTW. Do not apologize for providing "basic" information, there are new shooters everyday. I love that Greener.

Great video. I suggest you do more of these types. Videos maybe on each type and their variations. Informational videos, informative, educational or whatever you want to call them, they are definitely worth your time and good for people to watch... keep up the good work!

Eric, splendid job! Thanks for the Rifle action types explanation. I'm not an avid Rifle user, I do love my Colt LE6920. I've had one for years, but I'm not all that familiar with the other various action types. Thanks a lot!
