I'm finally feeling back to normal after the ripple the show created in my schedule. Also, I kinda like flying below the radar, when people get too big they seem to always get a bit corporate and I'm trying to avoid that as much as possible.

I haven't used paste wax as part of my finishing process in the past, but I will definitely give this a try on one of my next ones. The project turned out beautifully, Paul. Old houses are fun to renovate; that was our first home and, to your point, nothing is straight, flat, etc.

I for one appreciate all your work for us. I always know that if it's a Minwax sponsored video project by Jackman, it's going to involve interesting use of color. I really need to try these stains out sometime. I normally despise shiplap, but in this case, I'll allow it, since it actually looks like a finished thing and not just a bare wall. Thanks for sharing!
@JackmanWorks2 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! All the dull shiplap makes me yawn, I felt like there was a way to make it boring without it being tacky, that was my challenge for myself on this one at least.

I immediately noticed the pipe clamp storage on the back wall buddy. Some of us pick up on the details!! LOL I love the Mixwax stains too! I use a sponge brush and wipe off and the color transfer is pretty fantastic. A question about the finishing wax though, I use it primarily as a way of keeping my tools from rusting, but I've never used it for finishing. How do you overcome the distinct hydrocarbon aroma? Does it evaporate on its own?
@JackmanWorks2 жыл бұрын
The scent goes away quick! That was one of the reasons I like the Soft Touch wax so much, no aroma compared to the Paste Wax, shame they discontinued it.
@JOATology2 жыл бұрын
@@JackmanWorks Awesome! I appreciate the info. I make a lot of your Adirondack chairs and even copied the oil based spar urethane that you used for finish in your original videos but it's just getting so expensive, like everything else, so I have been looking for a new finish. I noticed you use Halcyon for a lot of your projects now so I looked into it too, but it's even more expensive. I'm sure it's a great product, because it's Total Boat, but I just haven't pulled the trigger on the switch over just yet.

I love watching your builds for your edits, but it would be great to get some insight as to why you do somethings you're doing for people who are not woodworkers. For example, why did you use your pencil on the top of the oak before sanding it, or why you screwed on another piece of wood ontop of the oak before running it through the table saw. Thanks!
@JackmanWorks2 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! I've been trying to add in a bit more narration to explain what I'm doing in sections that might have questions. Regarding the pencil, that just helps me know where I have/haven't sanded yet. Screwing the piece of wood on top of the oak and other tips like that can be found on my IG instagram.com/p/CiVR1Reghvt/
