AWD K20? That's one bad ass civic. Loving the AWD......
@neverknowsbest49949 жыл бұрын
its only partially awd. its the same system from the crv. meaning its fwd until there's wheel spin. then i t can send some of the power to the rear. even if it was locked (or welded) in the center. both front and rear diffs are open. thus under extreme conditions its only 2wd. but this is the world of awd vs 4wd vs 4x4 vs realtime awd
@JohanSalvattore9 жыл бұрын
neverknows best I don't think so.. it's true awd, I have talked to the B&C performance myself, they even sell an awd kit.
@neverknowsbest49949 жыл бұрын
Johnny Salvattore well the way the crv one works is that it has an output shaft going rearward out of the transmission, then at the the rear diff theres a viscous coupler. when both front and rear are moving at the same rate, the viscous coupler isnt actually sending power to the rear diff. but when theres slip in the front, the coupler binds and sends power to the rear diff. im not sure how this one is done. but most awd civics ive seen make use of the oem awd parts from the crv's awd system. if you find out more info on it id love to hear it. thanks man.

Is it a rule that all civic drivers must bounce off the rev limiter?
@Whizzly60210 жыл бұрын
I always ask myself this. Lol! Maybe it's to get more speed? Or something. Idk
@pegalis10 жыл бұрын
In this case (rare exception) Its activating the antilag system.
@freakingcrazyazzhell10 жыл бұрын
all vtec motors get their power off high revving
@casualmanmann10 жыл бұрын
Well most motors in general do. But when you're bouncing off the rev limiter you're no longer accelerating. Respect on the build though
@timcisar10 жыл бұрын
you shift not at the rpm level, but when your tires have spun thru the gear at highest mph for the gear. if we all started shifting when our wheels spun at hit rev limiter, id be in 5th going 60mph lol. dont be a dweeb and learn to drive. rev limiter is your friend, especially in circuit racing when you dont wanna up shift because a corner is coming, stay pinned and then downshift. every raced a motorcross bike? same thing

There are plenty of Honda's running 8s... The holes in the bumper help promote airflow on the drag strip, the bumper is a huge air-trap when going down the quarter mile. Evos and STI's are excellent cars as well, but you have to admire the hard work and customization that went into this beast. Honestly, I don't care what make a car is, as long as it's fun to work on and drive.

Thank you. Just to add some info, theres not an adapter plate in this build. U mention your self, Honda does have some AWD cars so we used what honda had already done. I cant imagine us trying to re-invent the wheel. That would of brought us a BIG pain in the ( I ). Hopefully we can finish a Plug and play kit for all of friends who share the same pasion for tuning...

You did good sir well built. And for those who don't understand saying similar hp rated cars getting better than 10's - ever think that gear ratio is ALSO another factor in the whole equation? (Not just motor output)
@artisticstop11 жыл бұрын
yes. Luckily other than time there wasnt much we had to spend. We are a local auto shop and that made it easier. We've done K, B, and D series AWD but this one is our baby.
@KONTRAone12 жыл бұрын
just out of curiosity, what kind of transmission/differentials did you use? impressive build btw. i usually laugh when a civic wants to run it from a dig, but next time i'll think twice... o.0

The crv is FWD until the diff senses that the front wheel speed is different to that of the rear. It then engages the clutch pack in the diff to run 4WD. Its done by oil pressure and is similar to that of a clutch pack in a CVT gearbox :)
