There is very few things more pleasurable to watch than an expert fishing lures. Weed is a pain this time of year - just gotta try fish through it. Weedless lures are useful. Finally, next week, I'm off to Pembrokeshire for some lure pleasure. Big cliffs and drop offs there so looking for your Spro extendable landing net (you know, just in case I catch a fish n all). Tight lines sir!

You must be referencing a different channel 😄 weedless SP's work well but, for me, they don't make enough noise in coloured water, even with an added rattle. Hope you have a good one in Pembs, I'm down there at the end of the month for the Bass Festival and can't wait. It's a great place to fish. Try predatortackle.co.uk, they've got the net handle in stock at the moment. Great service too. Hope you have a great trip and tight lines

Slow your lure down to a crawl in turbid water, it works in the Bristol Channel where visibility is often poor. The bass can zero-in on buoyant worm/senko type lures fished weedless and weightless on a very slow retrieve in coloured water just as they would if you fished the technique at night in the gin clear. If you're over sand or mud, try slow rolling a weighted paddle tail along the bottom, seen it work in coloured water in the upper reaches of the Bristol Channel recently, the bass will take the lure when it passes them as they nose around for crabs etc.
@SlippyLimpets2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. You guys must have nerves of steel fishing in that coloured water all the time. I bit of murk and we think we'll never catch fish
@derigriffiths3222 жыл бұрын
It's definitely not sight fishing! You need to pick marks with pinch points like estuaries, back bays, coves and inlets where you can search the water methodically by casting and moving. Casting into the murky abyss on the open coast isn't really an option.

I am looking to go on a Fishing Holiday in the Penzance area this summer. What is your strategy for finding good marks on your fishing vacations?
@SlippyLimpets2 жыл бұрын
I normally choose my locations based on fishing rather than trying to find fishing whilst on holiday. But, even then I'll decide on the species I'm going to target, once I know that, then I know what type of ground to look for using Google maps and navionics. Structure, current and depth are the 3 main criteria. Hope this helps

Dirty water: some spots like near certain estuaries, I don’t mind the water being a bit murkier, otherwise I’d just move. Conditions like you’d got, I would just move. With the drone you can send it up to see if there is a tide line or how far the brown water goes. Sometimes it’s just a case of moving around the corner. If murky water persists, a white paddle tail or something very loud. Edit: then you go and catch 👌 Nice start to your season
@SlippyLimpets2 жыл бұрын
Aye, I don't mind a bit of milkyness, I think the fish can feel more secure, but chocolate water is another thing. Seems a loud topwater was enough this time round, but not always the case. Had any joy yet this season?
@Oli.Brown.2 жыл бұрын
Yep got off the mark a couple of weeks ago. Was hoping for an early May start but the sea temps got stuck around 9C for weeks! Then the temps go up, but sadly along with that nasty loose weed! Word of warning: there are folk about that aren’t keen on anglers fishing around ‘nature reserves’. I’ve had my run ins of late, but unfortunately for them, I know that there are no bylaws in place. Worth noting if you go up that way.

@markrichardhall90892 жыл бұрын
Very, very difficult to take one off the top in coloured water, you must be blessed. Bass normally switch to grubbing about for crab in such conditions as the crab are emboldened to come out of their hidden holes thinking it’s safe. I doff my cap for even trying, god bless the rogue headbanger that saw your lure. Nice vid as always.

I think you're right, that bass was lost and I got lucky. Thanks for the comment and tight lines👍🎣
@barlow29762 жыл бұрын
Yes, but if you are fishing a shallow mark what bass wouldn't investigate if it heard/felt vibrations from something on the surface? I caught two fish in really coloured (less than a foot vis.) and weedy water on a Savage Gear TP minnow, a floating soft lure. Just cast out and twitched occasionally, and the fish find it. Only schoolies, but it was impossible conditions for anything else. If you want to cheat put some fish oil soaked cotton wool in the cavity, and it gives a chum line for fish to pick up on. Or try bait :)

It's going to be a grind this year i think. Had first one off the top in April but everywhere seems to be the same, just odd fish on marks/stretches where you would expect more, especially given water temps way up on same time last year early on, 3 trips in and only one 60 plus so far. You could have fished one of those areas til the cows ;) come home and just one would have been a result. It's definitely a year to get away from the usual places, best session numbers wise was on a stretch i had never fished before. A session on a known mark then two on new ones is the plan. Good start getting some fish on the board,no matter how poor a year it is it can only get better from here on in.
@SlippyLimpets2 жыл бұрын
It has been a late start but got admit, I hope you're wrong about the season buy it is looking that way. Defo right about new marks though, it's well easy to get stuck in a pattern that you think works but then each season is different. Keep casting and moving. Tight lines Rab👍🎣

When I was at Uni on Anglesey used to fish the point at Bull Bay, nice depth of water, plenty of structure, gullys and rock islands, very nice tidal rip through that area, usually always clear and plenty of good bass (4-6lbs class with my best a 9lbr) to surface and sub-surface lures. Give it a go next time your down that way mate. Looking on Gmaps you can actually see the tidal rip in that area.

Thanks for the info Andy, I keep driving past Anglesey but I keep hearing the fishing is good, so will need to stop by next time I'm down that way. Thanks again👍🎣

@@SlippyLimpets Bull Bay on the rocks near "The Anchorage", plenty to go at over a tide, you have the points, island rocks and a good boulder section further to the south. had some cracking sessions there. As with all marks it can fish at different times of the tide and here I liked 3 up 3 down. Your new long casting lures would be perfect here.

Why do you never say where you are fishing?
