After 2 years of bedroom DJing I have my first gig on Friday! It's at a sports venue and they just want me to play tracks thru a laptop so I won't even be on a controller or beat matching 😆 I don't care though, I'm stoked man!!!!@@

Everything I know about dj’ing i learned from a small handful of KZbin channels, yours primarily. I’ve watched almost every tutorial and have recently landed a residency at a local club! Really great stuff, thank you for everything

An item I quickly found essential for troubleshooting is a Maglite Solitaire (or similar) on a lanyard. It makes checking sockets and plugs in dark corners behind unfamiliar mixers way quicker and easier.

My drunk ass at a music venue wasn't happy with the music and sweet talked my way to the booth, what a night Now I really wanna get into DJing now, your videos are great.

Hey man! Thought I would come back to this video to thank you, just DJed for the first time in front of a crowd and was like a crowd of 30 (i’m in cayman islands so no covid cases) anyway i have watched i think almost all your videos and i remember watching this one and u saying be ready for drunk people etc. and i thought surely it can’t be that bad but surprisingly there was this one guy who kept asking me for songs and i told him i didn’t have them downloaded and he kept pestering now i didn’t mind too much but it was surprising how much ppl get involved. anyway i wanna thankyou so much i’ve been learning for 3 months and if it were not for your videos i would not have been able to do as well as i did, people gave me a lot of praise even tho i made some many mistakes also i’m gonna write what i could have done better here so i can remember cos i’m a little bit drunk atm which was one issue but it mainly meant i wasn’t as smooth as normal, also if u want ideas to include in any of ur videos this could help my main problems were: lack of popular song choice - this got worse towards the end as i only have a few ‘classics’ and crowd pleaser ones more focused on dnb the speakers i had were not nearly loud enough i was in the red most of the time and so songs sounded distorted was difficult to hear the songs in my headphones, i remember in another video u said turn down before u turn up but i didn’t try that and i am now going to bed with a massive headache and my ears still ringing i agreed to do too long played for 3 hours had a lack of motivation and energy for the end i mainly just looped in and out need to learn more techniques to switch songs in same bpm as well as completely different bpms my main issue i wasn’t prepared enough which you talk about all the time but i think i get an excuse cos i only knew the day before and even the hour before i wasn’t feeling it. also final thing funny story some guy came up to me and said i would be impressed if u didn’t have a computer but i don’t think he understood that i wasn’t syncing? and also that club decks still have screens on all in all i got a lot of compliments was told i was even better than this guys mate he professionally djs and it is geniuenly all thanks to you obviously i put in time, but you provide some amazing free content and had i paid for ur lessons i reckon that would have solved my last few problems, unfortunately cant rlly afford it but even so the free lessons r some of the best on youtube especially with ur genuiness behind it also 2 video ideas: how to get with someone who’s hitting on u while u dj and how to never get bored of the music ur playing (i know u said before to do 3 for them 1 for you but my genre would be in a completely different bpm?!) anyways thankyou so much biggest respects

Good stuff. Playing my first gig on 17th August, this is going to help me a lot. Also can I please know the ID of the track playing in the background ?

Still a question: Do I tell the promoter or any official staff that its my first gig (do I even tell them while applying?), or do I just act like I'm a professional?
@ClubReadyDJSchool4 жыл бұрын
Act like a pro and remember they don't care that much about you and your experience (no offence), they care more about what you can do for them. Invite everyone you know, if you pack the place it assures atmosphere- that's what they're looking for. Are you one of my students already? If not, I am not just saying this but in my course I have a whole section on playing in clubs, the politics, getting repeat shows and industry insights :) This stuff is my specialty.

Couldn’t get used to the delay in a large club sound system. It’s a completely different environment than having two speakers a few feet from either ear in your bedroom.

This for sure. When the monitor has a delay 😣🔫 need a video about mixing in headphones.

Do you need 2 usb sticks as in 1 for each player or are you saying just for backup in case 1 of them doesn’t work?

What kind of speaker should I buy in 2020? I have an LG sound bar with a Subwoofer. Any recommendation for a good speaker for practicing ting at home?

First gig; my fog geyser set off the fire alarm at the middle school and the fire department made an appearance at the eighth grade end of year dance. Good times :)
