Me and my friend replaced the turbo intake pipe with a silicone upgraded version and cut the end down a bit to allow room for the maf and air filter. The other option is a carbonio air filter which mounts down in the bumper
@SuperRon11 күн бұрын
I did think about the silicone intakes with them being a uniform size they'll be easier to cut back. I think that's the route I'm going to go down 👍

Found this today! Now following as I wouldn't mind doing a 1.8t conversion on my MK3 in the future. Looking forward to seeing how you get around the air filter conundrum as I wouldn't want to put it in the boot either.

Thanks for watching, a plan is in action for the air filter 😁

I would relocate the battery into more of a MK2 position and trim & fit the TT air-filter. The OEM filters look better for the factory look and often perform better as well with a K&N inset or similar.
@SuperRon11 күн бұрын
The airboxes are massive on the TT, I have incorporated airboxes in builds before using the origional cars airbox. But it's on the opposite side in this unfortunately
@uncensored510411 күн бұрын
@@SuperRon I have used MK4 Golf one in a MK1 before, with trimming to the lower section before the filter, that's on the same side and I would presume its very similar to the TT seeing as its on the same platform 👍

It's pretty in depth as you've got to take half the car apart, get in touch with Autoshack for a quote.

For those bus bar plugs, you can rip one ear off of a 2-ear single prong plug and it'll fit.
@SuperRon11 күн бұрын
I would like to find the plugs, would make a super tidy install

Great vid lad, you could try sizing a mushroom filter for it on silicone hose. The diameter would be wide but length is usually shorter.

My battery is in my passenger side footwell iv got an audi tt rs intake no getting around it even in the mk4 I can have 2 inch piping but that means ur restricting the intake mines 3 inch all the way to the turbo intake then 3 inch on the way out 1.8t is such a lovely car to work on

I've a 97 Vr6. If I bought the mk1 TT as a donor car, what sort of pricing am I looking at roughly for the conversion carried out. Thanks
@SuperRon11 күн бұрын
The vr6 has a different bellhousing to the 4cyl so the gearbox and everything will have to be changed too like I had to on this. I'm not sure on prices really, I just do the work
@soranrix12 күн бұрын
An obd2 16bit vr6 would that not have the drive by wire( the last off the vr6 97 model)?? Regards sören from denmark 😉
@soranrix11 күн бұрын
But really nice made bracket for the gaspedal 👍 the pedal cover from the newer one's also fit, not god in the right hand drive ones, but the foot rest also fit's on maby left hand drive cars, i have tt foot rest in my skoda fabia(velcro it on😉
@SuperRon11 күн бұрын
I'm not sure about the VR6s, I've found the later mk3 TDI's do have dbw, um still new in the mk3 world. I do have the matching foot rest but it didnt look like it was going to fit, I might try chopping it down a bit then stick it on. Thanks for watching over the water 😁
@soranrix11 күн бұрын
Well you made a nice braket and its fully reversabul so ,super i do wish you started crimping,even though you solder very nice🫣😉 and rumor has it that up mrk 4/5 ,all engines where tested in mrk 2 golf around Wolfsburg, that could explain alot 😎🫣😉
@soranrix11 күн бұрын
My idea projektet is a mrk 2 with mrk 2 gearbox (5e eco one) and 1.0 tsi engine😉
@Chukito11 күн бұрын
@@SuperRon MK3 tdi's do have drive by wire throttle pedal. It's almost the same as the one you showed on that modified mk2 pedal box. But that potentiometer with the cable is on the pedal itself. The SDI and TD models are with cable driven throttle pedals. I believe the TDI is the only MK3 with drive by wire throttle
@naserihsan375912 күн бұрын
What's the rough price for this conversion?
@SuperRon12 күн бұрын
Lots of factors effect the price, feel free to get in touch with autoshack 😁
