With trucks it’s towing, payload, and off road ability. Handling for trucks is like towing capacity for a sports car.
@littlehippo5004
@littlehippo5004 2 жыл бұрын
For people who drive trucks all day everyday, some handling is greatly appreciated. Just makes the driving experience a lot better. The vast majority of truck owners don’t tow frequently, and many fewer off-road that often. A nice balance in the middle is perfect considering the use case, and leave the super off-roading capabilities to more specific models
@matrinezkevin11492
@matrinezkevin11492 2 жыл бұрын
@@littlehippo5004 I own a truck an no. No it doesn't. I want my truck to handle well enough that it controls its mass but if you want a sports car you get a sporty car or sedan. I don't want my truck to ride like crap and sacrifice a single pound of its 12000 pound towing capacity so that it has tighter steering. I'd get a miata for that and have the best of both worlds. No one complains that their V8 Vantage doesn't come with a transmission cooler capable of handling a small 1000lb trailer so why should anyone care about a half ton needing to do non truck things at the expense of being able to better do truck things?
@rich7447
@rich7447 9 ай бұрын
@@matrinezkevin11492 Half tons don't handle all that badly. At legal speeds they can easily deal with any corner that they are likely to see on public roads. I daily drove a 3/4 ton with a 7" lift on 37s for 12 years with no issues and have moved up to a 1 ton DRW (crew cab 8 foot bed). Still no problem cornering at the speed limit, but now I can do it with a couple of tons in the back. I completely agree with you though. You don't sacrifice capability for handling. All that leads to is no handling once you hook up a reasonably big trailer.

That power is perfect for the dunes of Southern California, the brake are fine in slowing down in the sand, but on UK streets, probably not the best place for it. Also note, the computer on the truck registers US gallons (3.8L), if you want a UK conversion (4.5L), you need to add about 20% to the US number on the trip computer.

Best place for it! When anyone in a SUV thinks its absurd you can point out their own cars look absurd to the Estate or Hatchbacks they could be using, especially with the way fuel prices are going. Instead of questioning why they are carrying more weight in less aerodynamic cars, that are less safe in dynamic terms its easier to just complain instead.

Yes it fits. Don't be fooled. TV shows always like to find the smallest most quaint village and narrowest street to make this look funny but it's getting boring to see. The fact is UK main roads for the most part are exactly the same width as in the USA and I've driven extensivly in both countries. Two, four, six and eight lane roads have lanes to accommodate an artic (semi in US money) and they're the same width in both countries. Also little villages in the UK all manage to be served fine by 7.5 tonne trucks and things like Sprinter vans which are all in the same size bracket as this thing. With around the same footprint.

@nicholasminter4044
@nicholasminter4044 2 жыл бұрын
I think that's why they put the most powerful rather than the fastest. The r1t has 908 ft lbs vs 960 for the Mammoth. Official figures for 0-60 for the Mammoth is 3.2 seconds, the figures for the r1t is 3 flat. Figures I've found for the 1/4 mile are all over the place for the r1t but generally around the mid 11s, official figure for the Mammoth is 11.4. I would say a drag race between the two would very much come down to the drivers.

My boss went to a event where you get to drive Super Cars on a track in Pennsylvania, their was a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi, Porsche a Corvette and my favorite the McLaren, he called me said which one should he choose, I told him of course the McLaren would be my choice, it won’t be available because it will be broke down, he called me and I was right the beautiful McLaren had lost the transmission the day before. I listen to all these Britts make snide remarked about this crazy over the top truck and what they’ll be like 250 made, don’t lose any sleep over it, people that can afford it won’t be a bit worried about the fill it up cost and people that can afford a McLaren don’t worry about it’s dismal quality because they can afford to get them fixed. I’m just tickled to death to know there is Hennessy’s and McLaren’s out there on the road even if I’ll never ever get to drive either of these absolutely insane vehicles🫤

The standard 5.7 hemi with e-torque is the best of the bunch - if you want the off-road look then get a rebel Pretty sure my mate regrets chopping his 2021 5.7 in for the TRX As he does a lot of towing he particularly misses the air suspension My old 2015 5.7 hemisport was the best vehicle I have ever owned - 80000 miles in 3 years and only 1200 quid spent on maintenance a jeep main dealer

The best Rams for towing have the Cummins. I had one of the first 5.7 Ram 1500s (2003.5) and it was okay for power, but quite thirsty. Trading for the 2500 with the Cummins was only a mistake because I should have gone 3500.

C’mon someone spent a ton of money getting that truck to the UK and that’s all you did with it? Prove that a huge truck doesn’t fit on small roads and that a 1,000 hp supercharged V8 truck on 37in mud tires gets poor gas mileage? The truck is meant to be ridiculous. So much more you could’ve done with it I hope there’s more videos to come.

Proper machine, UK reviews always bias towards US cars. They said automatic cars was no good and now All Euro marques make auto's. How big are Range Rovers?? How Wide are Some Ferrari's and Lamborghini's. If this Truck said Audi or BMW badge the size would not be an issue. Euro cars very pricey and they never moan about fuel on Supercars and maintainance costs. Yank iron stand out not blend and look boring UK cars and Euro cars do.

The old TG, captain slow would have mocked the Truck as being too American, loud and impractical, Hammond would have loved it, for the same reasons and Clarkson could have loved or hated the truck but would have been witty about it. They were great because depending on your personality, you agreed with one of them and maybe all of them in some cases. You cant review a special vehicle lie this as if it was a common car, it's not a Kia, it's not a BMW or a Ferrari,, it is unique and people will buy it because if is unique and exclusive and in your face.

Just be happy that whoever let you use the truck didn’t leave the tow mirrors in the upwards position. I usually drive my RAM 1500 with them up, and granted in the states I have plenty of room, but every once in a while when I have to drive into NYC, it’s heart attack central trying to avoid semi trucks or the bus. And my truck isn’t even as wide as the TRX. But damn do I want one!
@rich7447

I have driven my (now gone) Ram 2500 with 7" lift on 37s in Manhattan many times with the mirrors up. That's the only way that you get decent visibility with them. New Yorkers aren't used to seeing a 7.5 foot tall pickup coming at them and tend to get out of your way.
