My first impression is: the game doesn’t even launch

Yea, not a problem! Everything has its hiccups and this one of them... pretty painful hiccup at that, lol. But this morning I was on the Sim at 4 AM EST and was loading fast and felt great.

In controls there is an option on the keyboard to use the MSFS 2020 layout, which works. Unfortunately the mouse doesn't seem to have one only the MSFS 2024 layout which seems to take all focus away from the joystick and cause you to lose control. This is the most overly complicated binding system I have ever seen and Asobo needs to fix this ASAP.

Honestly, after loading in, the sim was great. Loading time was quick, & graphics were peak. Just a shame I couldn’t get back in after I restarted. Trying again today, and I hope it is the same minus the login queue

Lol I have the Velocity one flight stick too and my joystick and mouse are acting soooo weird. I’m thinking its on microsoft’s end. Nothing makes sense.🤷🏻‍♂️

I finally got on...I didnt get blown away with the graphics. It seems on par with 2020. I flew the dreamliner which was more of a nightmare because the nav hold and alt hold couldn't be turned off and throttle kept cutting out. It took me most of my time mapping controls and getting rid of all of the dumb nav aid markers on my screens. I couldn't delete mistakes on mapping controls either. Pressing x did nothing. After that..I flew the bonanza v35 and was a bit impressed with its performance but all in all ...I like 2020 much more.

Give it time its a new generation of flight sim and it will have its issues. I was more impressed that my frame rate was stable at 120 fps and that I had no studders.

I agree msfs 2020 is 10 times better than this. The graphics are good when they finally load in but there is so much texture building going on it looks awful.

Good to see it working at least. Was in that queue last night, FINALLY loaded the intro screen, but eh...it was a buggy mess. Went to load an Airbus, the whole thing just froze and I had to shut to down. I DID see a video on X...some guy took his hot air balloon way....WAY up into space, apparently much higher than Darkstar / 2020. No idea if thats a bug...I say MS shouldn't fix that one. 😆

Yea I was in the queue for hours yesterday and I gave up on it after 4 hours, lol. I was just waiting for this morning hoping overnight would fix some issues. Luckily, I was able to get on this morning and create this video before work. Ive only been in a couple planes and planning to do some reviews and startup process here soon

Man they do have a lot to fix. I was having trouble with some of the photography challenges and the helicopter training is completely broken

My first impressions were bad but I've since tweaked a few things and it is a beautiful sim. My FPS is much better and it is visually stunning, especially at dusk. I'm a fan.

My understanding isn't that the logic is streamed but that unlike 2020 which installed a tone of basic world date, all the addons (including world updates), and planes locally, the new sim only brings over what you use and puts it in the cache. That helps with install sizes as well as with load times which the latter were very bad in MSFS 2020 the more addons you had. So, as an example, if you set your cache to 1 terabyte and didn't do any "house cleaning" of the cache over time and then flew to every airport and used every plane you had access to the used size of the "cache" would be equivalent to what you had in 2020 (and your load times would be similar).

@@StevesSimStation Yeah - you were basically in a stall the entire time, that’s all. It’s funny when sims act up like that. I was going through a recurrent a few months ago and the simulator was acting absolutely crazy - it kind of reminded me of that.

I havent even got to fly yet, i have got into the main menu but get stuck loading in after i press start flight. I left it for 45 minutes and it still wasnt having it.

honestly, try leaving it for hours, ie wake up early turn on pc launch game, make breakfast, go for a hike, go to work come home and eat dinner andbitl be ready sometime in that period hahaha. It is getting better but. First load for me was 8 hours.... no joke.

I tried doing the bishplane kinda thing in Newzealand at milfor sound, in a pc21, it threw me intot he mountains in the pitch black night. Wouldnt let me take off from the ground. Ah well. Cheers for the vidjeo

2020 is still an incredible game, far better than this so far... Microsoft are terrible on launch, forza Motorsports was awful when it launcher last year , tried again for the first time yesterday and it's actually great now

I spent 11 hours attempting to get in. Once I did get in like you said it's visually impressive, all I could say was WOW! Look at that, ohh gee LOOK at that! Hey honey honey, come here and look at the Grand Canyon! Also like you said, it run better compared to 2020 on my PC (ryzen 7 5000 series, RTX 3060) it runs soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Much better!

Yea it's 10 times more optimized. I still cringe at the thought that the content being streamed and not being on the local drive. But in time we'll find out if it's beneficial or an issue.

yeah, if you are fortunate enough to even get into the server, it does run buttery smooth mini in the aircraft are deeply flawed, which can be expected for a new release however, if you pay cash for this, you’re not a happy camper, I spent the last day and a half trying to get back onto the server. Really dropped the ball on this launch putting a flight simulator online was a really stupid idea and it’s backfired now you have lots of very upset flight simmers that paid money and are pissed.

yeah its obvious it will be better than 2020, but its gunna be a few weeks/months. I mean i spent 3 hours hot air ballloning before, got her up to 37,000ft. watched the sunset, and there were moments i took photos with my phone and i was like woah that looks insane, i collapsed the baloon, saved it and watche dthat flame burning and holy heck i lt was beautiful up high, its just down low its shithouse with blocky buildings bad ai cars etc. but its geting better.

Flight stick controls are inverted😢 and free look doesn’t work with a mouse on console. Deadzones on controller are messed up. Also I keep getting and error message after the first flight in career. All and all just a mess. So disappointed that I bought it😓

@MrDiamondRacing it's an all new sim nothing from 2020 will migrate over. You'll need to resetup everything. But freelook is broken for me too hoping that's just a bug.

My controls were inverted on the hotas one joystick. I had to change a setting for throttle axis and elevator axis. Next to each, click the setting button and select "set inverted axis"

@@StevesSimStation It's obvious that you stalled the plane... Though MSFS has never been very good with stall physics. You went into a wing-drop stall and then it went into a flat spin. It is not the sim's fault, you didn't have enough airspeed and your stall horn was blaring the entire time.

It may take Microsoft a few days to iron out the services that's needed to accommodate the stress that their severs are getting. Once they get an idea of the stress levels with this new system then things will start to level off and stabilize... I'm an IT person and worked in a datacenter environment so I understand the things that they are going through. I'm sure in their datacenters it's all hands-on deck to get the necessary resources.

A real fiasco! 8 hours to finally download, planes missing, switches on my Bravo work with some planes and not others, in cockpit freelook doesn't work and graphics are not much better than 2020. This is the most unpolished game I have ever seen.

Forst load, 8 hour WAIT.... then Crashed. Second load 4 hours plus. i just left it and walked away. Then i left it running, i aint waiting fucking hours again, it should be allowed to load offline mode ffs. Its also badly documented. Ie heres the keyboard shortcuts for this aircraft. I bought the aviator edition and theres fuck all aircraft in the library... for $300 AUD thats a HUGE HUGE WASTE OF MY CASH. Yeah mb partners gunna murder me when she sees ive spent that on our credit card, but yeah. I dunno i did several hours today and buildings are blocky, etc and i have 1tb fibre. I hope it gets better.
