As someone from the southern United States, I have never taken the time to think about people from other countries finding full-size pickups as intimidating to drive because there are more trucks here than cars almost. I love that you are enjoying it!

Just purchased a 2012 Ram Laramie. I've owned a few Rams...but never a Laramie. Of course, as we move up the model years through 2022...the 2012, seems to be where it all began in the luxury truck market. Love the truck, has 80k miles...and looks, drives new. Very, very refined inside the cab... gorgeous exterior finish, with a intimidating powerful powerplant.....you just have to experience it's capibilities for yourself to get it....

Finally something that actually has some room, instead of bashing your legs on everything, hitting passengers elbows, not being able to stretch your legs out & can actually have three car seats in the back.

My mate has one of these and it doesn't even do 18mpg....he loves it but why anyone would want a car or in this case a truck that doesn't even do 20mpg is beyond me, he had his converted to RWD though too.

I really don't even consider fuel costs when I buy a vehicle and I average about 18,000 miles a year. At 16 miles per US gallon, that is 1,125 gallons a year. Regular unleaded fuel is $3.40 a gallon, so fuel would be around $3,800. Well worth it for the capability and the comfort when you consider how many hours that you spend in a vehicle(for me 500 to 600 hours per year). That being said, I wouldn't buy a 150/1500 series pickup. They lack the capabilities of the larger pickup trucks and they are build with lighter duty parts and softer suspensions. My older (2011) Ram 2500 diesel would get 20 mpg highway without a trailer and had no problem towing my 30' enclosed car hauler at its full 14,000 lb weight. The 2500 proved to be too small once I got a second trailer that has a 26,000 lb gross weight. BTW: You friend could have just installed a free spin kit with manual locking hubs and had the option to run as a 2wd with the entire front drivetrain disconnected or regular 4wd. It makes about 2 mpg difference when the hubs are unlocked.

Here's some advice on what to look for in a truck, from an American perspective. Don't worry about the HP rating; torque is what you need to look for.

Hi there, just wondering if you have had any problems with the Ram? I'm looking to buy one (sort of waiting for the right one to turn up for sale - 2011-2013 5.7 Hemi Crew cab.) Thanks for your time, and great vids, Brian :)

@GunnerRA1557 ай бұрын
@@ryanknoetgen4044 It was the price range I was looking at, that also had cooled and heated seats, and the face lift which I liked. I ended up having to get a Nissan Armada SUV because the boss told me we needed room for the dogs! I'm still looking at Ram 1500's but wont be able to buy for at least a year now thanks to Ze Furher's Orderz! Never let women dictate your dreams!

@@stuartstuart866 The 1500 has an 8 speed ZF(8HP75) unit now. As long as you don't go crazy on the torque it is good. It's rated to around 550 lb ft/750nm. The TRX gets a stronger ZF unit.
